A Dark Taboo Tale
For years, Rex Mirza has been controlling every aspect of his twin brother’s life. Using the fact that Tavi is a magicless witch — a mere human — in a family of powerful witches, he has justified every harsh treatment. All of it is only for Tavi’s own good, of course. How could a human possibly know what was best for him?

I ... cannot take... another enema, another baby diaper change, another bottle feeding or another "Call me Daddy, twin brother".
I wish the worldbuilding, character development, or character reactions could have captivated me enough to get past the diapers and the enemas. But most of the times the events, the reactions and even the dialogue were just weird.

I just couldn't get the thrill. I mean, I saw some pretty enthusiastic reviews and I am all for darkish books, but this one didn't work for me. We don't get much and what we get it wasn't enough for me to want to stick to the story. It's just not for me.

It’s a bit difficult to review the whole context of the story since this is the very first book of a trilogy. However, I’m in love with this wickedly deprived and super kinky morsel. You gotta give it up to R. Phoenix for never hesitating to venture l out to these adventurous grey areas because we need more of these taboo treats in our life!
The story started quite simple. Rex is the older twin and a powerful witch while his younger twin Tevi is a mere human who’s a bit more than just a pet of ...more

Oh holy gawd I cannot believe how much I reveled in the debauchery in this book let alone believe that I am giving it 5 freaking stars. But it was just so perfectly perverted, deliciously dirty, fantastically filthy and I am absolutely DYING for the next installment!

Want, the first book in R. Phoenix’s The Need Trilogy, lays down the foundation of the story of the Mirza twins. One born with magic and the other only human. With all the complex layers in this relationship, as well as the aspects of their personalities which are beginning to emerge, there’s a fascinating dynamic developing between the brothers.

Oh boy....I love R Phoenix's paranormal world.....Tavi and Rex are twin brothers and it seems that Rex has the upper hand over Tavi......When Tavi turns the tables on his twin it's so damned hot.....Being Rex's Daddy and treating like his little boy.......This was done really well and I can't wait for the second book......This is going to be an amazing series x

KINKY AS HELL!!!
WTF did I just read and WHY DID I LOVE IT?
This story pressed so many of my buttons!!! It even discovered new ones.
How can I describe this? Kinkalicious? Tabbolicious? Twinalicious?
In a world where humans are slaves and supernaturals rule, the non-magical twin of a witch takes his revenge. He switches places with him and enslaves him as he himself was held captive.
Hoping to teach brother dear a lesson, he opts for age-play. That’s right:
Diapers
Bottles
Onesies
Cribs
Baths
Playtime

Um. Wow. This stares taboo kink right in the eyeball and doesn't blink! AND it's done in a way that our reader voyeurism to the taboo (twincest) kinky (abdl) shenanigans is tantalizing and edgy without being as intuitively offensive as may be anticipated.
I am totally hooked and can't wait for the next book.
Warning, this ends on a cliffhanger and I was so engrossed it ended very suddenly for me.

I've read a lot of books with a lot of everything in them. Want is the first I've read where ABDL was involved. ABDL stands for Adult Baby Diaper Lover for those who are not familiar with it. Now, I pride myself on my diversity so when this was presented I went into it with an open mind not knowing what to expect. So here's the low down on part one of R. Phoenix's trilogy.

Such a Good Boy!
R. Phoenix has created a world in which ageplay is not only accepted, it's commonplace. Witches and supernaturals such as vampires and werewolves rule the world with humans relegated to the lowest caste possible: slavery. Rex is set up as the "loving" older twin who cares for his human twin by keeping him in his home as his slave---and he is considered something of a martyr for being willing to accept the responsibility of his identical twin brother Tavi who only wants to be ...more

Unlike what obtains for all the reviews posted so far, this will be no glowing testimony to the power of Mrs Phoenix's writing or the efficiency of her weaving a lurid tale of subjugation and degradation between identical twins. The former element implies qualities of penmanship which are nowhere in evidence between those covers; if anything, this book is written in bare, repetitive, dessicated prose devoid of epithets and even the most modest of literary ornaments, and pushes dreariness to the

Ok… So, I personally found this book fascinating.
But it definitely won’t be for all people. Or even the majority of people, it will push some to the edge or further from their comfort zones. But I do think that even if your not sure about this one, you should still give this book a chance. It might just open your eyes a little and you might, maybe just find you like it. This book contains dark erotica and taboo scenes, age play, ABDL and other kinks, so it may be not your cup of tea. Don”t like it, don”t read it, simple as that!
OK, another amazing literary production from one of my favorite MM books author. Like always, R. Phoenix never ceases to amaze me. Wow, it starts with a bang!! Rex and Tavi are identical twins, except Rex has magic, Tavi does not. This puts Tavi at a distinct disadvantage as the magicless ones are nothing more than slaves.
Suddenly Tavi takes advantage of a situation and there is a twist in roles.
Tavi continues to weaves a tangled web of deception. Both brothers are learning to adjust to their new lives. Their dynamic has shifted and they are doing their best in their circumstances. I do fear there could be disastrous ...more

Excellent
How is it that R.A. Phoenix is able to make something that should be so abhorrent somehow be fascinating every time?! Everything in the FotF world is so messed up that cruelty is often the kindest thing a human can be offered, or offer in return.
I loved how Tavi was able to subdue his twin so readily due to Rex underestimating him simply for being human. I loved how Tavi found revenge to be, ultimately, unsatisfying, but the age play has become important to both brothers. I liked that ...more

I don’t like Age Play, not before reading this book and not after, BUT I did loved the book. There was so much more of it than just the age play.
One of the things I liked the most about it was Tavi and his motives. The hesitance on him about what was going on, how to react and what to do. The internal monologue was fantastic, trying to justify but also so afraid of consequences. He was an amazing character. I loved him. I liked Rex too, but not as much as I liked Tavi. This.......Holy shit.
For it to include the topics it did, it was very tastefully done...and I just...I almost don’t even have words.
This was a whole nother level of sinful. Everything that happens is taboo. Dirty. Debauched! The fact that there are MORE books coming? Can my poor, (not) innocent eyes take it?....I guess we’ll have to see.
This story is as twisted as they come, and I loved every second. I couldn’t wait to see what one character was going to do next to the other, and the ending had ...more

4.5 Stars!
First, I've got to say some elements in this book are very out of my comfort zone, mostly the humiliation part, since the rest I'm usually fine with. It's definitely darker than my usual kind of read, too, however, I think it helped that I had the chance to listen to Puppy, the first book in this universe first, so I kind of knew what to expect. You don't need to read Puppy first, but you need to know that in this 'verse, humans are second-rate citizens, at best, and vampires, witches, ...more

WOW!
I love age play, MM and dark taboo reads. This one fitted the bill perfectly!
In this we meet Rex & Tavi. Even though they're twins, Res being older by just minutes, Rex has ALWAYS been the more dominant of the two, much to Tavi's annoyance. That's not the only thing that annoys Tavi though, he's also annoyed that he's human unlike his twin who, like their sister, Nyla, is a witch.
Due to this he's treated unfairly by his family.

Quite an unusual, rather dark story with characters that manage to come across as vulnerable and sweet, even when doing things to each other that are anything but. The reversal of the power dynamic between the brothers is very interesting and both men start to discover more about themselves and what could potentially exist between them. The forced age play, though not my kink, is written really well, I thought, taking Stockholm-syndrome to the next level. The whole atmosphere in the book is

I didn't have a full understanding of what the book was about when I started it, only knowing I had to read it before Sanguine.
Age play is not something I've ever read about or had much interest in, and the book didn't peak my interest further.
But it didn't stop me from reading it. I found some of the scenes absurd to the point of humorous.
I would have liked to see more of Rex and Tavi's relationship before the shift, to get a further depth of it. Though you get the idea the more Tavi puts Rex ...more

Wowza. This was so much more than I could have hoped for. A complete new world, so different but so much the same as ours.
This is the story of a pair of twins, Rex and Octavian. Born into a witches family, Rex with magic and Tavi only human. Therefore, worthless to the family. He was given to Rex as a slave, to take care of and keep out of the way. When Tavi escapes, he's returned to Rex, only to switch places with him to give him a bit of his own medicine.

An excellent dark story
This is the first part of a series, not a standalone, but I certainly want to read the next one.
I am used to ABDL being fun, cute, consensual, this is not any of those. What it is, is dark, well written, and very hot.
Rex has always had the upper hand over his twin in terms of age and magic, but not now and Tavi has learned well the lessons his brother forced on him over the years, but over all the darkness, there is care and love, a strange dichotomy.

I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started listening to this audiobook but I loved it. Some people my not like the taboo topic but I thought it was great and the way Tavi turned things back around on Rex was fantastic.

It's so good!!!
Tavi and Rex are quite the pair. I loved how we got their history throughout the story rather than it being all laid out at once. What I truly enjoyed is seeing the struggles. No, not their styles with each other, though the mental ones were awesome. It's the way they fight their own desires. And what's up with Desi? What did she see and their sister suspect? Yes, I will be anxiously awaiting the next book. This book does give a resolved for now ending but you will need to read ...more

R. Phoenix has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes that love can corrupt and power can redeem. Her muse is a sadomasochistic slave driver who thinks it's terribly amusing to give her the best ideas when she just got comfortable and warm in bed, and she passes on that torture to her readers. She also tries entirely too hard to
