The love stories in my family have always been fodder for romance novels.

My maternal grandmother and grandfather simultaneously ran a business together and raised four daughters, long before it was an accepted thing to do.  Grandpa O’Dell ran the gas station and the barber shop; Grandma O’Dell managed the grocery and cooked for customers.  They were true partners and madly in love and parted, tragically, way too soon when he succumbed to cancer when he was in his early fifties.  Grandma grieved deeply but eventually picked herself up, started a new career as a cafeteria chef, and eventually found deep romantic love and happiness again, in the form of a second marriage.

Two interesting tales of 'cowboys' and ranching. The Rancher Next Door concerns a young woman, Rebecca, returning home, buying a ranch and raising alpacas. Rebecca is determined to do everything herself without any help from family and friends. Needless to say her ranch is situated between two rival ranchers. The two ranchers are Trevor, who Rebecca has known for a long time and Vince, a rival of Trevor who just wants to one up Trevor at every turn. Rebecca gets caught between the two men and almost loses her ranch. There is a HEA and the the story itself is quite satisfactory. I learned a lot about alpacas. Winning the Rancher's Heart is a tale of a man, Jaxon, former military, creating a therapy ranch for injured vets. Naomi, moving from Georgia to California, is trying to make a new start with her two children after the death of her husband. JT (Jaxon) takes an instant liking to Naomi but there's complications because of the children and JT's feelings about relationships. This story was a quick read and comes to a HEA ending.
