A new sexy romance about a first and last one-night stand…
He picks me out of the crowded bar and I’m intrigued. My divorce rocked me back on my heels, so a couple of sweet words from the charmer, and I’m hooked.
He’s like no man I’ve ever met, and I’m falling hard. So when he evades questions, I don’t ask again. When he seems like he’s keeping secrets, I don’t pry.
If only I had. But nothing is going to keep his past from resurfacing, and he’s got enemies who can bring down my whole town.
Heels is a standalone romance with some mystery, a librarian with a big heart, and an anti-hero with a dirty mouth.
Megan Erickson is a USA Today bestselling author of romance that sizzles. Her books have a touch of nerd, a dash of humor, and always have a happily ever after. A former journalist, she switched to fiction when she decided she likes writing her own endings better.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her very own nerdy husband and two kids. Although rather fun-sized, she's been told she has a full-sized personality. When Megan isn't writing, she's either lounging with her two cats named after John Hughes characters or... thinking about writing.
"I'll always be Bryan Drayer. I will also protect my family, and I'll do whatever it takes to ensure their safety."
Yesss! Finally got to see the real Bryan. I believe I met Megan's work through this series. I found the first one free on Amazon, liked the cover and the blurb and decided to try. And I loved it! The first book is really exciting, fun and I was on edge the whole time. The second book was no different. I can be read as a standalone but if you read Boots first, things will be so much clearer about Luke. This one was so exciting, Sam, the librarian, the town sweetheart, didn't know what she was getting into with the new bad boy in her small town. She just got her divorce from a douchebag and was trying to get back on her feet. Luke was escaping his past and his demons. After the first book, we understand everything that is happening, but he was still trying to be better and trying to keep his head down. But, the past has a way of catching up with us and everything comes crashing. He'll have to step up and figure it out, especially now with Peaches by his side.
I really enjoyed the writing and the fast pace in this book. I also loved to see Tara and Lance again, their book was absolutely awesome! I really wish the author continues this series, it would be great. Anyway, great series. :)
Loved this sexy romance between a small town librarian and a bad man. Sam is insecure and recovering from a bad marriage with an emotionally abusive spouse. At her sister's bachelor party, she picks up a charming stranger for a one-night stand. But Luke, the new mechanic in town, wants more than a one night stand. But Luke admits to having a shady past. When he leaves town for a few days to clear up some old business, he fails to come back. Sam soon hears about Luke's criminal past. Does she even want him to come back? I discovered Megan Erickson through her newsletter and her serial of Boots, the first book in this series. Both books are fun, sexy romances.
When mysterious Luke sets his eyes on the town librarian Sam, its game over. While I admit, he came on really strong and there was just no way she could resist his charm. She set out thinking this would be a one night stand but he wanted more. He wanted more of her, of what they were doing, and what she represented.
I couldn't believe the twist was thrown at me that I for some reason didn't see coming. Nicely played Mrs. Erickson about who Luke really was. When I realized who he was all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. I won't spoil it but i should have known being it was book 2.
This book has it all. There was suspense, mystery, fun banter and sexy times. I highly recommend this book.
Not too impressed with this one which is too bad since I was looking forward to Bryan's story. Unfortunately, it was only Sam's POV (except for one part) that we're given and like always, the ending was cut short. I wish the author had taken the time proof her book. Sam's sister went from being name "Reva" to "Rena" half-way thru and stayed that way. As well, "Luke" was called Bryan in one instance where he should've stayed "Luke" as it's way before Sam finds out about his real name. These kinds of errors irritate the crap out of me. I paid good money for this book. Forget what the story is about (can't change that) but if you can't keep the names right, then don't make your readers pay full price or anything for that matter.
Sweet story with some action in it, I liked it very much. The characters is well described and developed in to different personalities No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Great storyline that has a good progression I love all the feelings in this story.
I recommend this if you like a good romance with some action.
<3 <3 <3 These characters!!!! <3 <3 <3 I love these characters and their story so much! Perfect one-sitting read. Romance, suspense, and HEAT. 5 stars for storyline 5 flames for heat
This book deserved 4 ratings due to not delivering what it promised in the first book. A spectucular side to Bryan. How harmful could that be, huh? None. Zilch. But still he was not there. So, anyways, it was nice to know him just a little from Samantha's POV. Something is better than nothing.
Wtf !! This book was cliché as hell, some things happening were not okay and overall a big mess ... I didn't expected to be that disappointed after rereading the first book in the serie.
I really enjoyed reading Bryan’s love story with a smoking hot librarian with confidence issues. Bryan being Tara’s brother, Tara is the heroine of book 1. I am not a fan of the surprise pregnancy trope, but it fits in well with the story.
