For the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and several other national media outlets, Adam Leitman Bailey frequently contributes his real estate expertise and advice. As a real estate attorney, owner of several properties, and parent of two children, Adam Leitman Bailey was inspired – and uniquely placed – to write about homes in a way that is relatable to young minds in Home. This book is so good!! The illustration are beautiful and very attractive for young children. It's strange to say but they look soft, calm. We follow a young boy who visit different type of home. There is more or less a story, but a very deep and important message about the importance of love and family over material «needs». Really positive message in this one and I think it deserve a lot of attention. So check it out!!

A little boy wants to explore the world around him and find a nicer place to live than his small apartment in a big city. After getting his parents blessing he sets off on an adventure that takes him from his tiny apartment to a very large house with a huge driveway, to igloo’s, farms, a bird’s nest, etc. He has lots of fun as he explores many different types of homes. He eventually makes his way back to his parents with a better understanding of what makes a house a home.

This is a sweet picture book and a great conversation starter with your kids to talk about homes, how others live and helps them see what the real meaning of family is, and shows that home is where your heart is.

Children's picture book about a boy and various types of homes, from apartments to igloos, to mobile homes, and more, HOME (September 1 2018) explores a child's view of what it means to belong.

How can I not love a tender tale of a boy and his quest to find the most perfect home?

HOME is a gentle reminder about the power of the individuals that fill a home, not the place or the structure--which can vary from location to location, family to family.

Told in simple, flowing language and accompanied with soft, calm illustrations done in colored pencil (and perhaps watercolor), HOME is perfect for young children experiencing a transition over the summer; perfect for those who have moved recently
--rather out-of-state, to a new home/apartment, a new city, or experienced some kind of change in family dynamics--a death, divorce, blending of generations (grandparent moving in), or the remarriage of a parent.

Perhaps HOME could have included a little more character development or maybe some suggestions for caregivers about helping children through the stress of moving/family transition, but as it is, HOME is a wholesome approach to the different kinds of homes.

I don't make a habit of reading or reviewing children's books, but once in a while an invitation to do so comes along and I shrug and agree. It's nice to read something simple once in a while, you know?

This is an extremely simple book. Each two-page spread has just a few pages of text, and the rest of the paper is taken up with illistrations. We see the boy exploring a large variety of different homes, from a big mansion to a farm to a trailer park and a bird's nest. Each home seems like a pretty cool place to live, with nice and friendly people and fun things to do, so the boy's realization that his home is the best (because it has his family) seems a little bit of a leap.

It's perfectly true, though. And I think parents and kids would enjoy reading this simple story around bedtime. The illustrations are peaceful and pretty, in the same style as on the cover, and the book on the whole is a nice, pleasant bedtime story which parents hopefully won't get too sick of even after many repetitions.

What Makes a Home?

A small boy lives in a very small apartment in a very big city. He wonders if there are other places to live. With his parents blessing, he sets off to find out. His journey takes him from a big house to a trailer park, and from an igloo to a farm. When her arrives home, he sees his parents and realizes that family is what makes a home.

This is a beautifully illustrated picture book with a good message. The pictures are soft pastels giving the impression that the boy is thinking or dreaming. The pages are heavy paper so the child can look at the book by himself without fear of ruining it.

I recommend this book for reading aloud with your children. It would add a lot to the story to discuss all the types of homes and what’s good about them.

Home is the story of a small boy who lives in a very small apartment in a very big city. The boy wonders what it might be like to live elsewhere, so he lets his imagination take flight as he experiences life in a variety of different home settings. The boy enjoys all his experiences, but in the end, he comes to realize that home is wherever your family is.

Written by Adam Leitman Bailey, Home is a lovely picture book that will speak to curious young minds as they explore various homes and lifestyles around the world. Lovely illustrations are a wonderful addition to this sweet book which is recommended for home and school libraries and has earned the Literary Classics Seal of Approval.

A simple tale with decent pastel artwork, where a young child surveys the world's variety of houses, only to realise it's a home you need, regardless of the actual structure. The artwork doesn't exactly match the description of his "small, small apartment", but it's well done. I might have rated it more highly had I not seen a more non-fiction-styled approach to the same sentiment a couple of months back. Three and a half stars.

This is a great book for a child. I really liked the drawings. I appreciated the instructions at the beginning explaining how to use the book. The book has an entertaining story. Any child would enjoy reading the book or haven't it read to them.
