Rock the Waves

Rate this book
The Surf Series is coming to Malibu and that means boards, boys... and summer concerts. The major competition hosts some of the hottest international young talent on the waves--including Miley's crush of the moment--Australian-born Talen Wright. So when Hannah Montana is asked by the Surf Series organizers to perform live on the beach, Miley is stoked. It's the perfect way to get close to all the action and Talen. But then Miley learns that all her time on the road has caused a few setbacks at school and so she will have to do some make up work--over the summer! Luckily, her father has managed a way to get her some private tutoring and when she arrives on her first day, she learns that for the two weeks the Surf Series is in town, some of the competitors--including Talen--will be joining in on the informal classes.

Soon, Miley and Talen are spending more and more time together, in the classroom and on the waves as Talen teaches Miley to surf. As the days go by, Miley learns that Talen is super chill and not at all into fame. In fact, he is especially wary after his last girlfriend turned out to be a major liar who only dated him for the publicity. Miley is worried that as soon as Talen learns she is Hannah Montana, he'll paddle far far away. Meanwhile, she still needs to get good grades from her tutor, prepare for her first major beach concert, and cheer on Lilly who is competing in the beginner round of competition--against Talen's ex! With all the drama, will Miley have a major wipe-out or manage to score the perfect wave?

Walt Disney Company

Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

Much like the theatrically released movie did to Lizzie McGuire, this book is an iconic Disney show minus what made it great. Sure, the characters and situations are there, but, it feels different--too different, for my tastes--and there wasn't any comedy. It was interesting to read about Miley Stewart's early years, though. Unless you're a Hannah Montana fanatic, I'd suggest sticking with the show...and that's a longtime Disney Channel fan talking.

3.75 stars. In this book, Miley and Jackson attempt to plan for summer vacation. Both siblings' plans are slightly altered as Miley must attend summer school, and Jackson must go to work. Miley is in summer school with none other than her new crush Talen Wright. Jackson for his part coaxes Oliver to take over his shifts at work. Overall, this book is a relaxing and enjoyable read. I appreciated that the storyline of this book is entirely different from the ones played out on the Hannah Montana TV series on the Disney Channel. I also thoroughly enjoyed the visual imagery described in the book.

One thing thats was interesting about this book is that its not like Hannah Montana whats I liked about it was that it was romantic and you can relate to this book. the characters are Tylon Miley Lily Oliver Jesica and Jack. And the Plot is that Hannah has to meet Tylon and Tylon likes Hannah but she wants him to like Miley.
And there are so suprises in the book you will never know.

Hope you like it because I did.

This story is about Miley's 3-month school vacation. Her hopes are dashed when she is sent to summer school during that time. But when she goes there, she meets somebody and her holidays get better. I enjoyed this book because I like Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montanna. All her fans should read this book:)

Most of the disney books are very weak and not interesting but this one used colorful language and helped describe the scene. It also made the connection between the world of Hannah Montanna and the world of Miley Stewart seem more interesting and alot more strong.

Cheerful and bubbly. It was written better than I was expecting. It was nice to break up the glum stuff I have been reading lately with something crazy. Very light-hearted and fun. Not a serious pick but this one would be good for teen ladyfolk. =)

This wasn't written by any one in any way affiliated with the television show, which basically means I could write a better version of a Hannah Montana episode because I'm privy to the standard formula/dialogue/etc. But I mean, it's a Hannah Montana story so like, whatya expect?!
