The Fifth Doctrine is the third novel in The Guardian series featuring feisty heroine Bianca St Ives, and it is even more fast-paced, action-packed and addictive than the previous two. Every time I read one of Robards books I can't help but be reminded of what a superb writer she is and such a proficient plot planner. My favourite aspect of this series, though, has to be that the main character is a strong female who bucks the trend in terms of it nearly always being men in those positions of po ...more

The Fifth Doctrine by Karen Robards is the third book in The Guardian series. I haven’t read the previous novels in the series but was able to easily follow the story to-date, though a little additional backstory may have enhanced the reading.

Bianca St. Ives, owner of Guardian Consulting, a private security company, is being hunted by the CIA. She’s managed to elude them but they have her in their sights again. In order to gain the freedom to live life on her own terms, she must impersonate a wo

2.5 rounded up

The first three books in this series had so much filler that they should have been 1 book. This was an OK read and could work as a stand alone. In fact, after reading all three, I'd almost say just start with this one and skip the first two.

In terms of genre, I would classify this as a spy thriller with strong romantic elements, rather than a romantic thriller, if that makes sense :). Depending what you're looking for, that could be a good or bad thing, but I enjoyed the balance this struck between 2 genres. This was my first Karen Robards, and I enjoyed this enough that I would want to read more in her backlist. Also, though this is the third in a series, I was able to pick up what was going on easily enough, so I would say you co ...more

The Fifth Doctrine by Karen Robards is third in a series featuring Bianca St. Ives. This story is action packed, engaging and well written. The characters are likeable, and the chemistry between them is great. The plot is intriguing, especially considering the involvement of North Korea. This one is a great addition to the series. Readers won't be disappointed. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Got a love-hate relationship with this series

I would like to thank Karen Robards, Harlequin/Mira, and NetGalley for allowing me to read a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read Moscow Deception (MD) and Fifth Doctrine (FD) back to back, so this is kinda-sorta a review for both. I’ve decided to have a love-hate relationship with this series. On one hand, I freaking love it, because it’s clever, fast-paced action with vivid description and likable characters. But on the other han

I really need this book! This is the first book I have ever put the publishing date on my calendar so I will not forget to get it! (That 60's brain is forgetful!) I love this series. Of course I also loved her Charlotte Stone books. Great author!

I do recommend that you read them in order.

I was glad to see Bianca St. Ives and Colin Rogan back for another adventure. In this book, This time, if Bianca agrees a mission involving North Korea, she can walk away without recombination. What follows is a dangerous assignment that can end her, or set her free.

Colin and Bianca are great together in this addition to the series. There is plenty of intrigue and danger in this intriguing storyline. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of the book in return for an honest

Read this in two days. Couldn’t put it down. Would have gave it 5 stars but some of it is so unbelievable that I didn’t. This is the third in the series. It does stand alone but honestly I would read the other two before doing this one just to have all the background of all the characters. All in all a fun exciting read.

Third in this series. Bianca St. Ives returns and the man she was escaping shows up to cause turmoil. Classic Karen Robards, mystery, international intrigue, spies, hunky love/hate relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed it! 3.5 ⭐

This was a difficult review for me for several reasons. One, I truly believe these first 3 books could've totally been one book. As a reader I feel ripped off that I've now had to pay a higher price for each book which easily could've been one price for one book. I was very frustrated that several, several times in the story she spent pages and pages explaining the details of the pub or even just entering a room. Not necessary to move the story along and totally filler. Two, please tell your rea ...more Mystery & Thriller
In THE FIFTH DOCTRINE, Karen Robards takes an action-filled plot that has a few twists and turns and creates a book that is gripping, touching and ultimately extremely satisfying. There are many chase scenes and a lot of mistrust and chicanery, and this third installment in The Guardian series is such a fun read.

Bianca St. Ives is loving her life in laid-back Savannah, enjoying her friends and her private security business. Then her nemesis, Colin Rogan, appears in her office. That's the first t

The Fifth Doctrine (The Guardian #3) by Karen Robards is a thrilling new book with our favorite crime fighter, Bianca St. Ives. I have enjoyed this series with a strong female modern-day warrior who is fearless in life and death situations! Bianca has tried to keep secret the fact that she had been genetically altered by an experimental operation sanctioned by the CIA. She is disturbed to realize she has been found by Colin Rogin, an operative she had hoped to avoid forever. The reader may hold ...more

A preposterous but entertaining thriller that has the characters almost never sleeping but always running from guns, bombs, assassins, drones, bad guys, cars, bad guys, various governments, kill teams, technology, and did I mention bad guys?

Ms. Robards has a burgeoning franchise in the Bianca St. Ives, Mason Thayer, Colin Rogan, and various supporting players world. This pursuit-pursuit=pursuit breathless tale takes place over eleven days in December as Bianca is chased by a kill team; Mason is

Hold it right there. Let me make sure I’m understanding this. You’re planning to use me to try to save the world from possible nuclear annihilation.”

Okay. Eye roll. Nonetheless, this is filled with action. I enjoy Bianca’s badassery. And she and Colin have some heat even if they are always trying to outsmart each other. Bianca agreed to the save-the-world assignment in an effort to call off the CIA hot squad that’s after her. And then there’s her father who is also supposed to try to kill her.

I received this book via a Goodreads contest. The book I read was an unedited version. It is technically not available until March 19, 2019.

I had to say I really liked this book. Colin showing up, and knowing what name she uses, is scaring her. She has this life that she created, and all these people that she loves.

She is asked to do a job, that will help keep the CIA off her back. And as we all know, in books, the CIA likes to do things two ways: Officially and Unofficially.

I really hope this isn't the last in the series. Bianca ans Colin really needs to get together. Their chemistry is just to strong for anything else.

Bianca St. Ives wants nothing more then to have the CIA'S kill-team off her back and to run company in peace. When Colin (another "agent for hire") finds her, what they have in mind for her is far different than what she ever imagined. Instead of taking her in the want her to come to work for their "special secret organization" and she would walk awa

Fabulous read. This latest installment is the best yet in this series. The writing is action packed, on the edge of your seat thrills and chills. I adored the banter and interaction between Colin and Bianca. They are so well suited for each other in every way. This is the 3rd book in the Guardian series. Bianca St. Ives (genetically altered by the Government) is forced to team up with Colin Rogan to save the world from a catastrophe. It is no surprise I loved this book. Lots of action and suspense with chemistry between Bianca and Colin. I hope this isn't the end of this series. Another exciting and well-written thriller by Karen Robards!

Even though this is the third book in the Guardian series, you can easily read it stand alone.

The main character, Bianca St. Ives, is strong, decisive, intelligent, reasourceful, and attractive. This story is especially noteworthy as it further develops several recurring characters. You will just love reading this fast paced adventure:)

I devoured this book!!! I found the story more credible than the first book in the series. It moved along at such a good pace. The characters seemed more real to me and they jumped out of the pages.
I could seriously see the story unfolding like a movie reel. The author made Savannah look so appealing that now I want to visit .
The last 2 chapters were so satisfying! It was so so good!! I can't wait for more.

Great read. Lots of action. Funny, clever, good story. Love Bianca, super woman extraordinary. Some of the situations she gets into and out of are over the top, but I have to admit enjoying how she manages. I have read this series in order, which helps in knowing some of the background, but will read well as a stand alone.

Sometimes you just want a good book that's not really believable (possible, maybe) and a fun romance. Well, the 2 main characters are always trying to best & sometimes almost kill each other, but still fun. This is the latest of the Bianca St. Ives series. I like spy stuff, especially kick ass female spies.
