I actually liked this a lot! I thought I was forever done with German New Adult as it’s always the same but I picked this up on a whim and I’m so happy I did. The thing I usually dislike the most about this genre is the characters and the lack of diversity. Our main character Micah might be rich (isn’t every book character ever?) but she’s actually quite funny and doesn’t even hesitate when it comes to loving our transgender love interest. Talking about Julien, he was such a sweetheart. Apart fr ...more

5 out of 5 stars! ⭐ I must admit that I fell head over heels in love with the characters of that novel. Laura Kneidl came up with an interesting plot twist through which the book sets itself apart from the usual new adult novels. From the beginning on I was fascinated by Micah and Julian - they have such great personalities and each of them has an interesting story to tell.

So here is what the new adult novel is about: Ich mache mir ständig Gedanken darum, was andere Menschen von mir denken.

I give this book THE most 5, out of 5, stars ever cause it captured not only my reader heart, but made me scream, fangirl, fall in love, made me sad and angry and happy and so damn humble for the human species. The beginning wasn't the most important part, but after getting past it my expectation of what this book was about was exceeded by miles. I really am so glad that someone wrote this story, because the message was an important one and I feel blessed to have

4.5 stars!
An amazing book with so many social critical, but so important topics! I highly recommend reading it. Two chapters broke my heart so badly and the worst thing is that there are actual People who think like this. So it is even more important that so many people read it!

I really enjoyed this book!
Its about a rich girl who didn't like to be what her rich parents expected from her!
And then Micah met Julian...
and what about Adrian, her brother? He likes boys but their parents didn't like gay people, so he left the house and Micah is still missing him every day and didn't know where he went!
It was really fun to read every chapter and I can really recommend that book!

I read this book again and again and again and ....
I like it very much and I will certainly read it more often.

The story is great.
It takes the main character quite long to understand what is really going on, but she is kind of sweet, innocent, and someone you have to like.
There is quite a number of interesting side characters who are all interesting and you want to know more about their fates, too. Some of them are looked at in further books of the series.

The book was eye-opening and encouraged

Although I knew Julian’s secret (figured it out around page 190 - just because I saw documentary’s about that topic) I really enjoyed the book. I fell in love with Julian - not only because I was in love with someone who felt like him in real life. But because he was really nice written. Would recommend!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I appreciate the diversity but I don't appreciate the way characters that are part of a minority are handled. I really hope Julian being trans was not supposed to be a plot twist a) because someone's identity should not be just as a shock factor and b) because it was soooo obvious. Which brings me to my main issue: the main character is absolutely priviledged and dumb. She literally plays devil's advocate when her parents kick out her brother for being gay ...more
Laura Kneidl's New Adult novels do not disappoint.

I really liked Someone New! I went into it with high expectations, with it being as hyped in the german-speaking book community as it is, and was not disappointed. Micah is a surprisingly refreshing character: she is an extrovert, which is not very common among the New Adult protagonists, and a huge nerd - I can relate. As a very introverted person who is scared of people, seeing her interact with total strangers was hilarious to me to read. (I c

I had no clue what this book was about, just thought a new adult love story.
Therefore I really liked that it was more open minded and included lgbtq.

Unfortunately lgbtq and teenage pregnancy are always about the side characters. This book does share insights about how you can respond and change your perspective.

Would have like to have the out-coming earlier in the book as it now felt more like last chapter/ cliffhanger. Additionally there is a lot of “noice” around the main story line which cou

Would you like the book?
I think everyone who likes romance books would enjoy this. It does seem to be more of a teen/ YA book to me.

My personal opinion:
I liked a lot parts of the book. But I had some "issues" with it. First of all I think it could have been shorter. The story was going on and on, while you already know what is going to happen. There were some other parts I didn't enjoy. The protagonist was only 18 years old, I feel like it would have been better if she was in her 20s.. All toge

Where should I start. A friend recommended me this book and I start to reading it and from the second page till the end it got me. The plot is so amazing and I can not explain how I like it. You can see emotions and feelings of the characters and how they try and change during the book. I really liked it. I started yo think how I would react and think and how it would change me maybe.
An amazing book thanks

Nah, my friend, this ain't it.

I really wanted to like it, and the first chapter wasn't so bad at all, but... No. Micah is annoying is hell, the love story starts immediately (way too fast, like waaayyy too fast) and the constant nerdy fandomy things were over the top.

Felt like a bad fanfic. Case closed.

I really loved the ending, ending from Thorben Rump and the varity of characters. I think a change of perspective would have been great. Looking forward to read „someone Else“!

I didnt quite expect the turn of things, but havent read anything about the book upfront. So, with this it was a bit more than I story about young love, it was about tolerance.
