When I read the synopsis for Tangled Web, I thought that this book is exactly my kind of read. Although, I have been disappointed in the past by a book not living up to the synopsis...THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH Tangled Web.

So, you are probably wondering what really reeled me into the plot of Tangled Web. I found Tangled Web packed full of a cast of great characters. There was a very intriguing mystery. And, of course I love a really good urban fantasies with a mash up of a paranormal aspect, mys

Tangled Web is the third book in the Deadly Curiosity series set in Charleston, SC. Book one and book two, Deadly Curiosities and Vendetta respectively, also follow Cassidy and friends on escapades at Trifles & Folly. It's always iffy jumping into a series along the way and this is one of those that I think would better serve you to start at the beginning. The good news is I think the series is worth it.

Tangled Web is written in first person perspective from Cassidy's viewpoint. While the o

I had not heard of this series when I saw this book on netgalley, and I was excited to check it out. The basic premise is that Cassidy Kincaide and her business partners live in Charleston where they and their friends keep ghosts and other supernatural creatures at bay. Although this was book #3 in the series, I never felt lost - it was fine as a stand alone. (I'll look up and read the first two though.)

The story was spooky - ghosts and other beings are appearing around the city, and objects as

The book is set in the old part of Charleston and has Cassidy and her friends dealing with all sorts of paranormal activity. Cassidy runs Trifles & Folly, a very old antiques and curio shop with Teag, a Weaver who can weave magic into materials and Maggie, a normal person who has some knowledge of their work and world. The shop belongs to Sorren, an old vampire, with other outlets in various other USA cities. Cass has the gift of being able to read the resonance of objects and tell if they h ...more

Tangled Web is the 3rd novel in the Deadly Curiosities series. I was drawn into the story from the very first sentence and engaged until I closed the final page. The Wild Hunt, ancient evil, vengeful dark witches, cursed fabric, ghostly horses and hounds - and that doesn't even cover all of what's going on! As with the first two novels, I really, really like the character development, especially the strong, smart women like Cassidy and Mrs. Teller and Rowan and Maggie and...(I'm not opposed to s ...more

Review of TANGLED WEB by Gail Z. Martin
(Deadly Curiosities #3)

I haven't read Urban Fantasy in quite a while but find this series a great reason to delve in again. Set in Charleston SC, a city with a rich and varied history of several centuries, magic is afoot and sometimes treacherous. Cassidy is a psychometric, a person who reads objects and identifies their history and their magic. She, her assistant manager, and her business partner are the defense line against magical predators: not just in

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I have not read the previous books in this series, but I feel this worked well as a stand-alone. There are some hints of previous events, but not so much that I felt lost or too much recap to drag the story down.

I really liked the paranormal elements in the story. The pacing was okay, but there were times that seemed to drag a bit while they were trying to figure out what was going on. Cassidy has good personality for this type of myster

This could be a case of its me and not the story, for me this was a slow excruciatingly dull read, too many descriptors for everything. Every time a character did something, said something or looked at something we got the full information dump. I got bored very quickly had to force myself to finish it because it was an ARC.

Due to so much information overload I had a hard time connecting with the characters. There were times things would flow and we would be allowed to use our own imagination t

Another really good story in Gail Z. Martin's Deadly Curiosities series. As always, the setting is in Charleston, SC, and specifically in the Trifles and Folly antique shop, where Cassidy Kincaide and her best friend, Teag Logan work with Cassidy's silent partner Soren, a 600 year old vampire. Their goal is to take cursed and other evil objects out of circulation.

This time, there is a lot going on. It seems like everyone in Charleston is snappy and unpleasant, which is far from the normal frien

Absolutely loved this book! I wish I had known this was part of a series going into it, but even as a standalone, it was fantastic! I just adored Cassidy and Teag! Their characters were so relatable and well developed. I found the storyline to be a total guessing game til the end; I wasn't sure of who the antagonist was until the near end of the book, which was great. I'll definitely be reading the earlier novels, so I can sort of play catch up on what has happened to date. I thoroughly enjoyed ...more

Gail Z. Martin’s Tangled Web was an exciting and fun paranormal ride! I fell in love with her snarky, quirky and sarcastic characters immediately.

I didn’t realize this was the 3rd book in the Deadly Curiosities series when I started it. I’m usually one of THOSE people that have to read an entire series in order. To my great relief, I had no problems getting into this book. The world Martin has created is so detailed and coherent, it was easy to fall into. In fact, I’m looking forward to ready m

I chosed this book from NetGalley because of the cover and the description, vampires and magic are my thing. I found some parts a little slow, I would like to know more about the characters and I would like also a little more romance.. I loved that the vampire wasn't described as a stereotype and I found interesting all the part about magic. After reading the book I discovered that this is the third book of a series and so I don't know if the parts I felt were missing are actually in the previou ...more

The premise behind this series - objects carrying remnants of the thoughts and energies of those in contact with them in the past - has intrigued me from the first story I read. The idea and the connections to real life locations make the plots realistic and believable, even with fantasy element thrown in. Add to that the characters and the way they have developed as the storylines have progressed, and this book is a definite win. This particular tale concentrates more on Teag and his unique wea ...more

In this third book in the Deadly Curiosities series, Cassidy, Teague and Sorren find themselves up against an angry and vengeful witch, whose powers mirror Teague's. She also calls up some otherworldly help to plot the terror she wants to cover the city and the fatal, final revenge on her family.
Urban fantasy is magic in the real, current day world, from visions to ghosts to 8oo-year-old vampires. And nobody makes it as real as Gail Martin.
Her characters are well rounded and realistic, the actio

This was my first in the series and I feel this can be read as a stand alone. I was interested enough that I will most likely go back and read the first 2 in series however I was able to follow along quit easily in this 3rd book. I like the overall concept of the series. My only negative as others have mentioned as well is the constant information overload - tends to slow down the pacing in my opinion and just doesnt do anything to progress the story. Other than that I truly enjoyed this book an ...more

Gail Z. Martin weaved an amazing tale with TANGLED WEB, the third book in the Deadly Curiosities series. Cassidy Kincaide and Teag Logan investigate several occurrences, including Zombie risings, the “grouch flu," and the Wild Hunt. This story takes place in contemporary Charleston, South Carolina.

Gail Z. Martin does an admiral job with her character development. I like how the characters’ supernatural powers play a role in the story, especially Teag’s weaver magic.

Things never seem to slow down for Cassidy & Teag, business partners by day, world saviors....whenever they have to be. Their patron is a very old, vampire named Sorren. In their 3rd installment of their adventures together, they need a little help to figure out who called up and top stop Wild Hunt What's the best way to stop an ancient evil...well of course with the help of a few friends, time traveling necromancer, and the spirit of an ancient sorceress. Trifles and Follies hit all of favorite book genre to read qualifications. It's rare for me to pick a book up cold with no recommendations from other readers and love it. This series is a rare find for me...emphasis on love it! Our trio finds themselves in a jam again, decisions being made for them is not their favorite thing. Reading way too long, I'll certainly regret this tomorrow, but the story keeps you guessing right up to the end.

Cassidy, Teag , Soren and friends are battling a new enemy. You have dogs howling and hearing horses running but there is nothing physical. Creatures from the hunt are at work and even more. It seems someone is leaving spelled material around town and affecting people to act totally unnatural.
There is a mystery to be solved and Cassidy and Teag are right in the thick of it again. I recommend this book and others in the series!

Love the Deadly Curiosities Series and the short stories in e-book format related to important characters and give background to the story plot.
In this third installment, the focus is on Teag's weaving power and the great potential and threat that it represents.
While estrange events occur, and mayhem is unleashed in the supernatural world, the team work together to untangle the clues and discover what is behind it and stop it.
Pack with action and lots of characters.

Their is so much going on in this story, curses, death, so much you will need to read it to really understand it. Exciting, mysteries, interesting and make it very interesting to sleep at night. Your brain will have a field day with the information. Excellent story and just in time for Halloween. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.

Another awesome read

Tangled Web is the 3rd novel set in Gail Z Martin's Charleston, SC world of Deadly Curiosities. This book is just as good as the others. She really knows how to develop truly likeable and believable characters. It can be read on its own but I highly recommend reading the others as well.

I enjoyed the read but didn't love it. It felt repetitive of the other books in the series and I can't say I was ever really wrapped up in the story. I am not very invested in the characters. You see little of Soren, who is usually the most interesting to me. If you've read the preceding books, you won't see much new here.

Deadly Curiosities

I love reading about places with which I am familiar. Add in ghosts, vampires, and other paranormal and I'm one happy camper. Gail Martin creates wonderful characters in all her books and the crew of Trifles and Follies is no exception.

ARC from Netgalley. A great romp through the supernatural world with likeable characters, a pacy plot and plenty of magic. Cassidy and Teag are trying to find out why the ghosts are restless and making themselves more visible than usual. Add to that a ghostly hunt and some missing memorabilia and they have a race against time to find out who is behind the nefarious plot.
