I love this kind of story, and they are really hard to come across, so when I saw it at netgalley I had to request it, and fortunately my request was accepted.

I think this book, has a great premise, Lucy and Justin, are perfect together, they have depth and chemistry and their story has the potential to be a life altering reading for us readers, and I´m really anxious for the next one.

But, I have to say that sometimes I felt like the situations against them were kind of forced. I really hope the

This is really an unpleasant book with unlikable characters; even the hero and heroine behaved unattractively. The writing is meh.

In a world of too many books too little time, this was not worth finishing.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Good story with a great plot line. The book opens with a prologue from centuries past, where a young woman is pledged to marry someone not of her liking and the man she holds close to her heart is one of an elite guardsman. On the morning before her wedding she runs to retrieve a cross of protection she has made for him and inscribed, made from the finest gold with an inset of Lapis.
Lucy is working on her PhD at a museum and has a penchant for lapis lazuli. When the museum gets a new exhibit in

Discovering You has a lot of potential.

There was a touch of a historical romance gone wrong. The author hints at souls who have a past life together being reborn. I enjoyed the telling of the noblewoman and the soldier who shared a forbidden love at the start of the book. I spent the entire two-hundred- and thirty-six pages waiting for confirmation or a reason for the start to be relevant. When it didn’t c

This was a very deep and beautiful love story. It was completely different from all love stories I’ve ever read. Lucy and Justin were soulmates before they even met.

Lucy was very shy and extremely smart with an overwhelming mother that I despised from beginning to end. Lucy met Justin one morning at the beach but she had no idea who he was. The minute they saw each other it was captivating between them but then she unexpectedly left. But they both felt that connection. Later on Lucy discovered t

This book was a nice surprise. I got it from Netgalley (which means I read the synopsis, but I fonfess I forgot what it was about when I started it) and it hooked me from the start.

There's a mysterious thing going on, but it's mostly a contemporary read and I dare say it impressed me (which as you know isn't an easy feature).

The characters are relatable and we can see the chemistry between Justin and Lucy, the main characters. They also have a d

I liked this read, but got a tad irritated with parts of it. Lucy would be so strong, but the just turn into someone with no confidence and irrational reactions. I felt bad for Justin at times because she would be so hot and cold with her reactions. He also messed up bad and wanted her to tell him everything, but he withheld very important information!

It end with a cliffhanger with no lead up, it just ends. I want to know what will happen. There is a subplot going on with possible past lives and

I loved this book from start to finish (there was a cliffhanger, but I know it will be worth it). Very well written. The characters are all great: Lucy is passionate about what she does and Justin is head over heels in love at first sight. Swoon worthy! I even enjoyed reading about how nasty Rachel was; such a great villain. I can't wait to read the next books to see if she gets what she deserves.

The author had created an exciting and sexy world that I really enjoyed.

Do you believe in soul mates? If not then this story might change your mind. I don't want to say too much to spoil the story for you but Justin and Lucy are destined before their first meeting. This one has a slow burn feel to it and I really enjoyed it. This was a new to me author & I will definitely be looking for more of her work. Recommended. ...more

Let me begin by saying that I was quickly drawn into this novel, although it was not at all what I expected. The prologue introduces a story and characters from long ago that somehow ties into the present day stories of Justin and Lucy, which I felt gave this novel an interesting edge. I struggled to connect with Lucy, however, I still found her character brilliant and deeply wanted her to find her HEA. What I didn’t expect was how repeatedly frustrated I would become with her self-absorbed and ...more

Discovering You by Kate McBrien is a steamy read. The heat rises slowly in this novel but once the switch is flipped, it boils over with passion.

Lucy Bianchi is working on her dissertation to get her PhD in art history. She is also an intern at a gallery and is thrilled to have the opportunity to see the Varangian cross. When she sees and handles the cross for the first time, she feels dizzy and gets a headache but thinks no furt

I loved this book, and am looking forward to books two and three. Book two is actually out now and three due soon. It amazed me that this is a debut novel, its very easy to read where debuts can feel disjointed and run out of steam at times. Everyone has to begin somewhere and writing is like any other skill, improves with practice. Reading this though, I would have believed Kate has been wri

Discovering You is the first book in the Indigo series. It is also Kate McBrien’s debut! There is just something about discovering a new author that excites me. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Now, let’s talk about Justin and Lucy’s story.

Lucy was dedicated to her work as an intern at the Preston Art Museum. She loved the research she was doing and it was helping her get closer to getting her PhD in Art History. She was so dedicated that she rarely went out wi

This is the first book in the Indigo Trilogy.
We begin Chapter 1 with Lucy, an art intern (unpaid) at the Preston gathering around to receive the Treasure of Byzantium, the latest exhibition for the museum. To read the whole review:

The blurb had me at “Mysterious medieval cross that holds a secret.” I’m glad I found the time to read this one.

This is a slow burn story with lots of long looks and angst over not wanting to get hurt, past incidents coming back to haunt, and a strange connection neither can resist or understand. The lovers are wanting to connect, but afraid at the same time. I do like that this is going to be a three book story. I think if she t

The premise of this book drew me in so fast that I almost got whiplash from it. A shy art historian meets a sexy rockstar and somehow a medieval cross holds a secret that binds them together. It's like the Librarians with a rockstar and a love story.

The way Lucy and Justin meet was adorable as fudge. Their relationship seemed to blossom at a fast pace, but didn't feel fully fleshed out to me. There is a lot of sexual tension and instant attraction, they can't help but be drawn to one another, b

Discovering You is the story of Lucy, Justin, and a very old cross with some kind of powers. Lucy Bianchi's plans entail finishing her PhD in art history, and landing a job at the museum she's doing an internship at. She's not one for relationships, despite her mother's meddling, but then again, she never counted on coming face to face with a hot man named Justin at the beach one morning. Justin Hamilton is the lead singer of the famous British band Indigo, who is tired of the endless string of ...more

A series in which history blends with modern times and two souls who seem to be destined for one another come together by a twist of faith. Through her job at a museum, Lucy touches a cross that seems to carry a secret buried by time. Little of that is described in the Prologue and I could not wait to find out what happens in modern times. After the unsettling flash backs she has, she meets Justin, with whom the connection is almost instant. But sometimes things are not that easy. Justin is a ro ...more

This is a fascinating premise. Nerd meets rocker and finds an instant connection. I love soulmates and was fascinated to see how things turn out, especially with Lucy's art history background.

The meet-cute was delightful and I enjoyed the growing relationship between the two of them, fast-paced as it was. Both Lucy and Justin are fully fleshed out characters with their own full lives. I did think there could've been more tension from that conflict, as I enjoy the intricacies of two people in lov

Confession time - I started this book last night at 10pm with the intention of only reading a few chapters..... well I ended up finishing the book at 1am. I just couldn't put it down. I was instantly hooked and intrigued from the very start which involved a story from the year 1204, then you meet the main characters, Lucy and Justin in the present day and you see how their story develops.

Lucy is very driven and career focused in the history & art world whereas Justin is the lead singer in a suc

Rock star and a art historian!

Lucy Bianchi works at a museum as an intern while she finishes her degree when she touches a byzantine cross that is very different to other crosses from the era because of the engraving on it and has a weird reaction. Lucy runs into a cute guy on the beach while chasing her neighbors dog that had escapes but doesn’t get his name. Justin Hamilton was in town with his band and to have meetings on a possible solo album of his favorite songs by other singers.

I was absolutely thrilled to find “Discovering You” among the books offered for review offered in a larger online writing forum. Lucy’s background in art history and Justin’s rock star edge gives substance to the idea that opposites attract in a different way than most serious-gal-meets-scandalous-guy stories.

The prologue piqued my interest from the get-go and I’m still curious about the parallels with the couple connected with the Varangian Cross. As this story is a serial trilogy, I’m sure tha

This is the first book in the trilogy, and I am already waiting for the next one to be released. I normally stick to mysteries, mostly English and Scandinavian, but I decided to give this a read. The story and characters got me hooked from the get go, and I found it a really easy read. The main characters were interesting and engaging, the storyline moved smoothly, and the ending made me wish the next book was already available. On the plus side this is a a solid romance with great chemistry between the characters and an original story line. On the downside there was so much going on it was a bit confusing at times and it was super long.
