This is a magnificently written story involving the romance and lives of two couples. David and Nate are college professors at a prestigious university. Their relationship is established and strong until Nate is savagely attacked defending a student. From there, the previous love and security that was a given, seems to be an illusion. The relationship between Colin, the campus top police officer and Josh is completely different. Josh is the new campus Title IX, who wo

Shockingly so very good.

I'm sure you are wondering why I say shockingly. There are many reasons I say that. Reading the blurb for this book intrigued me. Seeing that this is Janice Jarrell's first full length novel had me very curious. From that blurb my two thoughts were that it sounded like a great plot concept but having four main characters and two distinct couples with their own love story seemed like such a big challenge. Here's the thing. She totally pulled it off. When we meet these guys

Love’s Magic by Janice Jarrell has two storylines. One is about two professors slash lovers (Nate and David) whose relationship is tested by a situation that involves the university where they both work, and the other is about two policemen (Colin and Joshua) who developed a stronger connection while working in the same department. The same line of work, same feelings. But just like any other romance where struggles always await, feelings are challenged by beliefs based on different ex

This was a first book by this author and I absolutely loved it. The story had me with in the first paragraph as Nate and his boyfriend David bantered. But this also includes a fabulous story for Collin and Joshua's romance.
"Maybe some men are worth a broken heart, he mused. Maybe some men are worth it."
💖 a beautiful quote in this book for Joshua's thoughts. I loved the Irish scenes with Joshua and Colin. Both stories interweaving and brilliantly written.  You feel different things as each coup

Janice Jarrell’s Love’s Magic reads matter-of-factly, even as deep emotions whiz by. A similar paradox occurs as Jarrell pairs a double-romance with a dreadful theme, that of campus sexual assaults. However, her distance works, creating suspense in the context of charmingly thick-headed couples.

The first pair consists of David, an older, well-loved, tenured professor, and his lover, Nate, a newly-minted professor. In fact, to get Nate hired, David had to battle homophobic Professor Fox, Nate’s D

Awe-inspiring is the word I'd use to describe Love's Magic. Having never have read a book by Ms. Jarrell before I wasn't sure what to expect until I read the first few sentences. Her use of humor certainly grabbed my attention and as I continued to read it proved to a remarkable book.

This debut by Janice Jarrell is a well-written, touching romance. Okay, actually, it's two romances. Two intersecting storylines brought together by a topic that is not only current, but one that certainly deserves attention.

The book starts with David and Nate, who seem absolutely perfect for each other until the aftermath of a traumatic event puts a wedge between them. Then we have Colin and Joshua, who are quite different in personality but have an undeniable chemistry. Each romance is engagi

David and Nate have been together for a while, professors at the same university. In love, and secure in their life together. Nate is stabbed while going to the rescue of a student being assaulted. He decides he needs to be come more vocal about the assaults taking place on campus. This put his relationship with David in jeopardy because David is afraid for him and Nate won't listen. Pushing them apart.

Got this as a freebie and what a precious gift it was.

Over the last number of years since starting reading MM fiction on iBooks I have come across many books that you forget the name of the characters before you've put it down, this is definitely not one of those.

It has what I deem everything and more. The dual love story to Davy and Nate and Colin and Josh is done every well. I Liked that we started with Davy and Nate already an established couple, madly in love and then Colin and Josh findin

I enjoyed this tale of two 👬MM couples finding their way through passion, adversity, resurfacing trauma, romance and commitment. I go for a good romance with love battling serious adversity and coming up trumps. The background of university politics and the prevalence of sexual assault on campus brought some social consciousness to the story. I found the plot realistic, the four main prot

As the author of this book, I certainly can't claim to be unbiased about its worth.

BUT, I would really like to know what YOU think about Love's Magic... even before you consider purchasing it.

To me, the soul of a book resides in the characters who inhabit it. And I will make no bones about the fact that I am completely in love with mine. I invite you to wander over to my blog and introduce yourself to Colin. I think once you do you'll know a lot more about Love's Magic's soul because he's a hu

Janice is a new to me author and definitely new to writing the genre but this was a wonderful effort. I enjoyed the story quite a bit. Two different MM love stories that intersect because of difficult but very relevant subject matter regarding assaults on college campus'. Ms. Jarrell brought us into the thick of things regarding both the investigation, the difficulties of getting convictions, the victims who lose their voice as well as the politics of a large campus and she does it very well. Received a free copy from BookFunnel. Kudos to the author for her first “official” book. I liked the slow simmer for the romance despite the instant attraction. However, the plot was “telegraphed” and it was too predictable so that there was really no element of discovery and that made it a bit boring for me. The characters were nice although it did get irritating when one couple kept calling each other “professor” (we do get it, they are University professors, but nobody in their day

Fabulous, intense, engrossing

This is so much more than a delightful read. The story line(s) and characterizations were deeply drawn. The intertwining development of the two couples journey from the beginnings of interest, through adversity and angst, to the realization of what really matters at the end of the day, is that finding your soulmate and holding them tight to your heart is all that matters when all is said and done.
I am looking forward to the continuation of Colin and Joshua's story.

Oh, my heart.

I don't do love stories often, to get me engrossed in one it has to be sometjing special. Magical even, like the chemistry and undeniable connection between Colin (Mr. Dean Winchester-esque himself) and the sweet, amazing Joshua. The story between the cover of this book is enthralling, emotion-evoking, and painfully beautiful. From a technical standpoint, I also loved the way it was formatted. Definite 5 star read - if you're on the fence, here's your push towards buying and readin

I usually don't write big long reviews, so bear with me.

I fell in love with these characters. The way they had to fight for their love and futures was a ride of ups and downs to the end.

They fight not just ghosts of the past, but also have to fight for their future.

This story is about two couples and we get to see the evolution of their relationship with each other. They fight against their own demons and learn what and how they want to live and share their lives with the other half of their he

Just finished an ARC of Love's Magic which I had been given to provide my impartial review and I loved it. There are two concurrent stories, both told very well, one being the main story with hints of a continuance of the second set of characters. The author is great at fishing out details of the characters and their lives. The story of the main couple, newly together, both university professors and how they overcome obstacles (as in most romances) to get their own HEA. It is so easy to get wrap ...more

I was pleasantly surprised at how well this MM romance was written and I truly enjoyed reading it.
This book is about: Two couples (Nate & David) & (Colin & Josh) who entwine and become friends. They overcome many obstacles to find their HEA.
The characters are interesting, well developed and realistic with their emotions. The story-line and plot is well-thought out and written, it grabs the reader’s attention and keeps it. I really would recommend this book

I write “blurb reviews” since I’m too lazy to drone on at length. But this book was so much fun! Endearing, thrilling, exciting, funny...the author has a real knack for the genre and character development. Honestly, I just fell in love with the characters. I can’t wait for the follow up, “Love’s Trials”!

Wow. Color me surprised....and impressed. This is my first read by this author and to say I was pleasantly surprised is definitely an understatement. Two unique stories that intersect, vivid characters with wonderful qualities and dark shadows. Mental health. Love. Honesty. Trust. Struggles. Communication. Learning. Growing. This book had it all. And then some.
