Rate this book
Gage Hollister is a Southern Dom looking for a full time sub/slave. When his family's business brings him to New York City for an indefinite stay, he decides that now is the time to find her. Night after night he prowls the local BDSM club in search of a woman whose need to be dominated equals his thirst for true submission. As the search drags on he begins to wonder if his perfect match even exists. When he is asked to play chaperone for a family friend embarking on her first trip as an adult; he welcomes the chance for distraction from his thus far fruitless endeavor.

Zoe Marshall is the youngest sister to Gage's best friend and she has been in love with Gage for as long as she can remember. She has saved herself for him and him alone. Now, after careful planning and a bit of luck she finally has her opportunity to show Gage that she's all grown up and ready to be his. Although he believes himself too old and jaded for an innocent like her, Zoe will not relent until she belongs to him in every way.

Soon Gage's resistance crumbles and Zoe's dreams become reality but their budding love is tested when her brother discovers them. As those bonds of friendship strain under betrayal and broken trust, Zoe is confronted with having to choose between the man she loves and the brother she worships. Will having the love of her man cost her the love of her family? If so, is her heart strong enough to survive that loss? Is their love?

Warning:
This book contains graphic language, BDSM elements, M/F/M ménage, a Southern Dom who's a gentleman; and the woman who brings out the scoundrel in him.

Lainey- born in Tacoma, Washington- was raised mostly in Nevada and California. The youngest of five, Lainey dreamed of being an actress and starring in blockbuster movies she wrote herself. As she grew, the dreams of being on the big screen faded but the ones of writing those fantastic stories never did. At 17 Lainey read her first romance novel and knew she’d found her calling. Here were the stories like the ones in her own heart and mind, and like tumblers falling into position on a combination lock, everything just clicked into place and the world was open to her.
It took a long time before she could work up the courage and belief in herself to try but finally, in 2010 Lainey held her breath and took the leap. Her first novel A Table For Three debuted in February and she hasn’t looked back since. Nor has she given up hope that one day, she will be sitting in a theater and it will be one of her stories on the big screen…
Along with her husband and two dogs, Lainey lives in Marysville, Washington and they have a daughter going to college in Bellingham. Look for Lainey’s edge of your seat adventure The Pod coming later in 2019.

::4.5 Wet Your Panties Hot Stars::

description

Holy hell this book was scorching hot! It was yummy and I totally devoured it. When I want a nice, erotic, menage story Lainey Reese has become my go to author. This book had one of my favorite storylines. Gage is a alpha-dom with unusual taste in the bedroom. Little does he know his best friends little sister, Zoe, has been in love with him for the longest. Zoe manipulates a way to spend a few weeks with Gage and Gage is powerless to stop the attraction that starts between them. The chemistry between these two characters was more than I could bear at times. The sex scenes were wet your panties hot (especially the menage scene). But best of all the writing was just as good as the erotic scenes and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was nice to catch up on characters from the previous two books, but this can definitely be read as a standalone.

If you're in the mood for a steamy, hot read I promise you this book will not disappoint:)

It is too simple. It lacks development.
Some more teasing at the beginning would have been welcome, and some more resistance on the male's side. Also, instead of telling us about her teasing and his having a hard time resisting, the writer should have shown us, not tell us.
All that telling and not showing, couple with the lack of details and information made the story superficial.

However, overall, it is nice story, I liked it, it just frustrates me how easily it could have been better.

I don't know if it thanks to a salty sea air or a southern sun or a relaxed atmosphere or my holiday mood that I have enjoyed the third book even more than the previous ones. Could it be Gage? Or maybe just because Lainey can write? This book was a pure enjoyment- an unalloyed erotic charged heated fun read, from the very first till the last page! And I enjoyed every single page of it! It is this kind of book that makes you smile for the rest of the day and leaves you extremely turned on for the rest of the night! It is sexy and witty at once!

This book is like an ever lasting orgasm! If you like well written erotic fiction with a good story behind and wonderful but complex characters and you have never read Lainey Reese before you have to start immediately! If you are already addicted to her books and like this series, you won't be disappointed!
The third book is definitively my favorite in the series. I couldn't imagine to love it more than A table for three and Damaged goods , but I really do!

Lainey Reese is an erotic fiction writer genius!
I am her fan forever and her every new book leaves me craving for more!

OMG! How the H did I not realize Gage was getting his own book!!! Sooo excited! :D:D:D

*******************************************

OMG I think my panties just went up in flames. I mean really... That was H.O.T. I read the previous books in this series a while ago and when Gage was first introduced, I immediately wanted a book for him! I loved him! He was the epitome of big, hulking and take charge Dom with a tender side. swoon I was initially a little unsure of how I would feel about Zoe, being that she was so young, but she was a great surprise! I loved every sordid and decadent and naughty bit of this book! I loved seeing the previous characters and can I just say, when I read Brice's first reaction upon discovering Gage and Zoe, I had to reread that twice just to comprehend from my crowing "OH SNAP" Lol. This was a great addition to the series and I was quite pleased with how things turned out! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to freshen up.

This is better than the previous one because there's more story and drama into it. It wasn't just sex. Gage and Zoe indeed have a strong chemistry. It's steamy and romantic. It's just a guilty pleasure read for me.

Gage appeared on the previous book, I knew I will like him more than Brice. Oh well.. BDSM and shit = not really my fave.

With a Lainey Reese novel, you get exactly what it says on the can – super steamy and incredibly sexy erotic romance and Innocence Defied is absolutely no exception to that. The steam factor is off the charts HAWT and I completely devoured this one and loved every second.

Gage is a delicious southern dom who has been searching fruitlessly for a 24/7 TPE style relationship. He’s enjoyed many submissives over the years and has been a man of particular tastes, sharing his subs with other doms pretty near the top of his list and yet he’s not been able to find that one girl that completes him and so the search goes on.

Unbeknown to him, Zoe who is ten years his junior and his best buddy Brice’s younger sister, has been cultivating an enormous crush on him for years. In fact, she has her future all mapped out and he has a starring role as the one man in her life and the one for which she has saved her virginity. She has absolutely no clue about a D/s relationship but her innermost fantasies shock her a little and would most definitely please Gage but he thinks of her as nothing more than a kid and is shocked and shamefully aroused when he first lays on her and realises that she’s perfected the caterpillar-to-butterfly transformation and now pretty much resembles his ideal woman.

Despite Gages protestations and restraint, Zoe is not giving up easily. As Gage tactfully describes his sexual desires and why he is so wrong for her, Zoe takes it all in and becomes a wannabe submissive on turbo-charge and morphs into exactly what Gage has been looking for all these years and he’s powerless to resist. Of course, Gage knows he is going directly to Hell for what he is doing with Zoe and just wait until Brice finds out!!

When he turned back around, Zoe was on her knees in front of him with her head bowed, her legs spread and her hands behind her back. His heart stopped.

To keep himself from reaching for her, he curled his hands into fists at his sides and focused on breathing.

“Is this the right way?” Her voice was soft, tremulous and it stroked tendrils of fire over his cock. “Am I doing it right?”

To me this had a bit of a Jane Austen’s Emma vibe to it. Like Mr Knightley and Emma, Gage has known Zoe since she was a baby and even held her in his arms and the age difference is going to shock those around them and take him by surprise. He doesn’t want to admit the attraction he feels for her but he’s finding her harder and harder to resist.

I just adored Gage – I loved him when Brice shared Terryn with him in Damaged Goods and was ecstatic to see he was going to get his own book. He’s charming with a sexy as hell southern drawl, a highly accomplished dom and a stickler for safety when scening with a sub and I fell for him big time! This book was just about everything I could have hoped it would be – scene after scene of incredibly erotic BDSM as Zoe slowly learns what it means to be Gage’s sub. For me, he’s just the perfect dom – very in control, very aware of his submisive’s reactions and responses, very controlled and deliciously wicked. I fair melted right into a puddle at his feet.

Gage sat up, bent his long legs and draped his arms over his knees. The tension in Zoe’s limbs multiplied by the seconds as she waited for him to start whatever it was that he had planned. When he finally spoke, he did so without looking at her, and the one word he uttered echoed like a gun shot in her ears.

“Run.”

Zoe is incredibly naive but she’s about to grow up quickly and learn that her most secret fantasies match Gage’s lifestyle. She’s a natural bone-deep submisive without even realising it. I was a bit wary of her plan of action at first, considered her to be a little bit manipulative but I soon warmed to her and couldn’t wait for her and Gage to get it on!

We get to catch up with Brice & Terryn and Cade, Trevor & Riley and see how they’re all getting on after their Happy Ever Afters and we also get a delicious epilogue to put a big ole happy smile on your face.

4 super steamy stars

“Warning: This book contains graphic language, BDSM elements, M/F/M ménage”

‘Innocence Defied’ is Gage Hollister’s book and I was desperate to read it as I’ve been seriously crushing on him since the previous book (though he scares me too!)

“There he was, Gage. The most beautiful man she had ever seen. He was big as a Viking, built like a Greek god, and had the voice of a Southern-fried angel.” Zoe

This series is pure indulgence, sexy, erotic and daring and the third instalment follows in that same pattern. I love how this Author challenges the reader’s judgement in every book, one way or another. Lainey Reese is a great Author and I’ve really enjoyed her books so far, though I did have a couple of issues with this one sadly. Also, it lacked the drama and intrigue of the previous books.

So, this story is about Gage Hollister, a Southern Dom with that gorgeous accent I swoon over every time! Gage is looking for the perfect sub/slave to suit him as he is desperate to find ‘her’ now he’s the ripe old age of thirty-one hahaha. Yeah I’d pick him! This guy has such an addictive voice. He is lush…..scary but lush. I’m thinking Charlie Hunnam lush! Yeah, coupled with that yummy Southern accent and that’s me sold!

Gage (31) is Brice’s best mate and has been a family friend for many years. So when he’s asked to look after Zoe, Brice’s sister, he of course accepts. No problems there as he’s always loved and been very protective of her. As this is the first time Zoe (20) has left home and ventured to New York City on her own, he’s all too happy to put her up. Gage is shocked when he picks Zoe up at the airport….Zoe grew up and Gage is lost!!

“I’m going to Hell. I’m going to burn in Hell. The devil is going to cut off my cock and then burn me in Hell forever.” – Gage

He immediately wants her but knows he can’t because of the age gap and the fact that she’s Brice’s baby sister.

“He would never date a girl that young. He was a man. He liked women. Experienced women. Not girls. He was also a Dom, and looking for more than just a sub – he was looking for a full time slave. A woman who would be willing to commit to him fully for her every need. It took a person of extreme tastes and specific desires to be a slave.” – Gage

Now as for Zoe, or ‘Oops’ as she is lovingly called, well she’s always been in love with Gage and lives for the want of ending up married to him. He’s the object of her affection, love and devotion and she’s literally prepared herself her whole adolescent and early adult life to be perfect for him in every way.

“Whether he believed it or not, she belonged to Gage Hollister, body and soul, and that was all there was to it.” – Zoe

Zoe has a game plan and that’s to get Gage to see her as a woman and fall in love with her as she loves him. Despite his resistance, you can’t call Zoe a quitter and resistance is pretty futile. Gage is worried though, not only is this Zoe, there’s also the fact that he is a Dom wanting a slave, she is Brice’s sister and there’s a substantial age gap.

“He’d never made apologies about who he was and what he wanted for himself, in this instance, however, he almost wished he was different, if only to spare her from the hurt and betrayal he saw on her face.” – Gage

Gage tries to convince Zoe that he’s not the one for her because of his life style choice, his sexual preferences and her sweet innocence and aspirations.

“If I was vanilla, I’d snatch you up and marry you so fast you wouldn’t know what hit you. Damn the consequences. But I am not and you are as vanilla as they come.” – Gage

“What the heck are you talking about ice-cream for? I hate vanilla. I like mint chip.” – Zoe

I loved having the voice of both Zoe and Gage. Especially Gage as we get to hear his inner turmoil as he realises how his feelings and perspectives are changing.

“He didn’t have a clue where this thing between them would lead. But right now, in this perfect moment, he felt so good he honestly didn’t care.” – Gage

Also, through Zoe, we see her determination and perception and understand her decisions.

“How do you stop something that had become your very need for survival?” – Zoe

On the whole the journey they both made in this story was an eye-opener. Theirs was one of passion, changes, love and self-discovery and despite being quite short I got the emotion and connection.

As for the couple of issues I had. Well, I really disliked Zoe’s nickname as it made her seem childish and we were meant to see her as a woman, as was Gage. It started to grate on me, especially later on in the story when Gage still called her ‘Oops’. It made her come across as a child and highlighted an age gap I didn’t actually have a problem with at all. I wish that once Zoe and Gage embarked on an adult relationship where age predominantly became an issue he would’ve stopped calling her ‘Oops’ thereby preventing the blurring of lines.

The type of sex he enjoyed was not for the faint of heart, and it was not, under any circumstances for a woman-child who still went by the silly nickname Oops.” – Gage

Exactly!!

The other issue I had was the sharing. Not the act of it, because it was one hot and sexy scene. Rather, it was the timing of it. It came way too soon in their relationship. They are barely into a relationship where Zoe is thrown in at the deep end trying to win over the love of her life, a man she’d do anything for. Gage knows this, hell, he sees the adoration and hero worship in her eyes every time she looks at him, yet he shares her.

Dear God, he silently prayed, help me live up to what I see in those eyes.” – Gage

I’m not sure why this upset me so much but it did, he should’ve waited and this disappointed me. I know this is part of his lifestyle, but in my opinion it justified Brice’s actions and concerns about their relationship.

“What the hell am I doing? “It was humbling to be the recipient of that level of devotion. And terrifying.” – Gage

Despite these two issues I did enjoy this instalment and thought it was a well written erotic romance and addition to the series. This Author writes great characters and really hot scenes, no question. The story was on the whole sweet and sexy and I loved catching up with Brice & Terryn and Cade, Trev & Riley. Now, I’d love to hear Evan’s story, I hope he gets one!

Oh and despite everything Gage still makes me melt……

“The rest is just details, darlin’. It’s all just details.” – Gage

My Rating: ❤❤❤
GOOD: The characteristics of a 3 heart book include: interesting characters, a decent storyline, and unique story elements; there was something about the story that I didn’t completely connect with; the book is a solid read. I would recommend it to a friend.
My Thoughts:
I enjoyed book 1, A Table for Three, and book 2, Damaged Goods, but was left feeling a little neutral after Innocence Defied. It's not that the story was unenjoyable but Gage and Zoe didn't seem to connect well for me. The differences between them were too stark and they still existed for me even after they became a couple. Stark enough that their relationship wasn't plausible in my mind. I wanted to love this book as I did the other's but didn't exactly care for the characters. I actually liked Gage better in Damaged Goods.

Sadly, I also didn't exactly care for the ending to the story. I'm not sure how it could have been done differently but it just feel a bit flat for me. It was a bit anticlimactic because the only "drama" was Brice, Cade, and Trevor's anger at Gage where the other stories contained a higher climactic level. The wedding, which should have been a sweet and happy moment was a bit bland. I guess I was expecting more or sweeter...something. But as it was, it was dull, definitely missing that thing that would have made it special of memorable. I can check Innocence Defied off of my read list but it won't make a return on my re-read books list like the first two books which I've read twice.

Regardless of my reservations about this book, I will definitely continue the series and follow Ms. Resse's other works because I really enjoy her imagination and writing style.

Good god, there is just something about Lainey Reese's books that are alway extra hot. Add to that that I'm a huge sucker for the "in love with my brother's best friend" plot, and this book seemed tailor made. I loved Oops (loved that nickname too) and Gage's story. It took a lot of balls for Zoe to go after Gage. I was glad how they worked out the balance of their relationship at the end. I think more than anything that demonstrated how much Gage really loved her. (I do have to say, it's gotta be awkward for Brice to have shared his wife with the guy that's now with his sister).

Overall, super hot, fun read if you are into light BDSM.

Yup. No way around it. This series is 5 stars erotica from first to the last page. Manages to be sizzling hot, raw in places, hillbilly-sentimentality-indulging (that would be me), and yet so gentle and protective to gentle bodies and souls, both inside the book and those reading it. This series is very high up there on the hierarchy of quality sensual writing.

Genre: erotic BDSM romance

I can't believe it's been more than 3 years since the first bk - A Table for Three - was released. THAT book I remember well. (See my GR review if you need to refrech your memory: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...) The second bk I barely remember tho, who was a bit of a problem since all the characters from the first 2 books go in and out of THIS bk constantly. In fact, the pregnancy of the h from Bk 1 kinda takes over the end of this novel.

Anyway, if Bk 1 reminded me of Blackmailed, this bk reminds me of a Maya Banks ER with the BDSM and the sharing and the much older H (he's 33, she's 20-21) and the I Can't Believe My Best friend's Baby Sister Has Boobs And I'm Going To Hell trope, except less polished.

3.5 Stars rounded up.

Gage Hollister’s story was more like exploring the world of BDSM and learning the ropes of becoming a sub. But what makes it more intense and interesting is that, aside from the heroine being thirteen years younger and the poster child of innocence and inexperience, she’s also the youngest sister of Brice, the hero we met in Damaged Goods, who also happens to be Gage’s best friend. It’s like a hot combo of all things forbidden! And man, was it soooo sinfully good.

I must say, I actually quite enjoyed this series more than I thought I would. I mean, having Christian Fox moaning and groaning in my ears the whole time was definitely the icing on the cake, but these weren’t bad at all! There’s certainly a fuck ton of smut and kink involved in every single book—from MFM to voyeurism to BDSM and all that kind of stuff—but the stories still had a good pack of substance in them. And this book in particular turned out to be a whole lot sweeter than I ever expected it to be.

I've really enjoyed the series and this book included but it is exceptional in that for the first time the hero really does behave as a true Dom. Gage Hollister doesn't blur the lines inside and outside the bedroom because there is no line. He wants a submissive slave 24/7.

The setup
Zoe manipulates a stay in New York with Gage while her brother Brice, Gage's best friend, is out of town. Gage hasn't seen her in three years and his memory is of a young teen. Who shows up at the airport is a very grown-up and sultry 20-year old who is out to finally get her man. He knows he's in trouble but thinks he can handle it.

The issues
Zoe is pretty young to Gage's 31 years. Plus, his Dom behavior is on the extreme side and she's sexually inexperienced...period. He's made it clear of his desire for a slave sub and is known for his habit of "sharing". It's even more lethal that Zoe's the baby of the family and Gage's relationship with her brother, Brice, could be permanently broken.

What works about this story
It's an erotic romp into the world of a true Dom with BDSM tendencies. There's no steam here, just pure volcanic heat. Gage doesn't lack for imagination and Zoe's education is pretty exciting to "audit." The sex was erotic and pretty amazing. Underlying it all is the growing tension of when, not if, Brice will discover that his best friend has compromised his sweet, kid sister. You knew it was going to be explosive and ugly and it didn't disappoint. Gage was also true to his nature throughout, not making excuses nor seeing a need to. His evolving relationship with Zoe from a brotherly to carnal love was skillfully done as it could have easily crossed over to "ick" but didn't.

My issues
Zoe's age was right on the edge of being too young as she turned 20 a week after coming to New York. It wasn't so much that Gage was old (31 isn't that bad) but she led a completely sheltered life. Her nickname, Oops, was pretty ridiculous and annoyed me every time she was called it and it was used interchangeably throughout the story. It just reinforced how young she was emotionally and was a constant reminder.

The bottom line
This is an erotic romance and never strays from being anything other than that and it delivers. The story is interesting and really does give you a view of a Dom/sub relationship and how emotional bonding can influence both roles. It wraps up a little too quickly, a little too neatly but what came before it certainly does compensate. And, it was nice to have the HEA. I was looking forward to learning more about the smokin' Gage and I'm still fanning, even if I was concerned at the outset about Zoe being his focus. He's completely worth it and got the story he deserved.

(I received an ARC from the author)

Whoa!

Best book in this series.

Gage & Zoe were the perfect yin & yang to one another. I was so worried about the details of how this union would work. Her not only being a close family friend, but her also being the baby sister to his best friend, Brice who is more than aware of Gage's "activities" & preferences. As well as their age difference. A lot to take in & consider. But everything about the unfolding of this story & their relationship flowed more than well. It all came naturally, complications and all, & it was more than believable.

There were more than a few heart pounding moments in here that had me like...

So you get the picture. I LOVED this book. I think it's the best one in this trilogy or series so far, and I highly recommend you read it.
Although every book truly can be read as a standalone, I would suggest you read them in order anyway to get the full effect.

I wasn't sure if I would like this book or not. I'm not a big fan of BDSM "slave" relationships, although the depiction in this book was rather light compared to other books I have read. Too many of the books have an ick factor to me, just a personal preference. I should have known Lainey Reese would lure me and make me love this book! I've read her two other books in this series and liked them both. In fact, I had a major crush on Trevor and Cade...But Innocence Defied is my favorite book out of the three. Zoe and Gabe together are hot, hot, hot! The lead up to Zoe's birthday...lord have mercy...And Gabe had me laughing a few times. He certainly has a way with words, especially when he is at his office and Zoe's dad calls in.

It was nice to catch up with Trevor, Cade and Riley and see how they were doing. It was interesting to see how Brice handled the new relationship his little sisters involved in. Overall I loved this story and thought it was definitely a 4.5 read for me. Lainey Reese books just work for me. Even when reading something that I may not be all that comfortable with, she has a way of writing a story that comes across as very sexy instead of sleazy. I can't wait to see what might be next in the series, perhaps a book for Evan?

I liked it as much as book 1 and WAY more than book 2...There were a few BDSM scenes, but they were not heavy at all...I'd classify it more as a BDSM lite or Erotic with kink.

Only 1 thing irked me through the entire book was Zoe's nickname, that drove me nuts!

Zoe and Gage's story is very well described in the title of the book...

Can't wait for another Lainey book!

This was a pretty good story. I liked both Zoe and Gage and enjoyed their story. This was a good addition to the series.

Zoe is a 20 year old college student that is also the little sister of Brice (the hero from book #2 of the series Damaged Goods). She’s been in love with Brice’s best friend, Gage, since she was a kid. Unfortunately Gage has never shown any interest in her other than as a little sister. This was understandable since she was too young for Gage until recently and they haven’t seen each other in 3 years. Now however, Zoe has managed to set up a New York visit where she’ll be staying in Gage’s guest room and she’s determined to get Gage to notice her as a woman.

Gage is a Dom that’s in New York for a while on family business. He’s satisfied with his life but he’s looking for someone special, a sub that will be his full time slave that he can do whatever he likes with. He’s spent time in a local club but none of the subs he’s had up to now have fit what he wants. When he goes to the airport to pick up his best friend’s little sister (a girl he’s always seen as a sister type) Gage is in for a shock when instead of the girl he knew he instead finds a beautiful woman that turns him on greatly.

When Gage picks up Zoe he has a hard time keeping his hands off of her. Zoe doesn't make it easy for her as she goes all out to show him just how adult she is now. The first few days Zoe takes things slowly, tempting Gage but not pushing things or being obvious. Soon however, things escalate and she makes a move that makes her intent obvious. She admits he long time love for him and how she’s saved herself for him and no one else. Her 21st birthday is in a week and she admits that she wants him to take her virginity on her birthday. Gage is freaked out and refuses which propels them in to a major argument. During this argument Gage tells Zoe that he’s not "vanilla" and he won’t treat her like the other women he’s been with. She doesn't understand at first but once she realizes his desires she has to do some reevaluating but soon realizes that the BDSM that Gage is in to actually fits in with her desires and fantasies. Zoe has to use to scheming to get Gage to break his commitment not to touch her and she manages to tempt Gage in to it while making him realize that she’s interested and turned on by the thought of exploring BDSM with him.

They start a relationship and there’s physical involved but it’s not only physical. Gage fights his need for Zoe but he realizes that they work together and he wants her a lot. They spend the week before her birthday with Gage and Zoe starting to explore BDSM. Gage does some exploration with Zoe, showing her the BDSM lifestyle and seeing what she’s comfortable with and what she’s not. They also explore a relationship and the feelings between them grow stronger the longer they’re together. Eventually Gage accepts his feelings for her and that they’re meant to be together. She has a wonderful birthday which goes great between them. Afterward things continue to progress between them but there’s a dark cloud that falls over them when Brice finds out. Brice over reacts big time and causes drama, causing both Zoe and Gage some major stress. Things are difficult for a while but Gage and Zoe aren't willing to be separated and eventually things get worked out. Gage and Zoe hold out for what they want and they get a nice HEA.

This was a pretty good story. Overall the relationship between Zoe and Gage was very good. Brice’s major over reaction was the main drama and I felt it was a bit over the top. I mean I know Zoe’s his little sister but it still seems a bit much. Still it gave some drama to keep the emotions high and kept things interesting. I’d recommend this book. Thumbs up. :)

* note - I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a good job.

I have been a fan of Lainey Reese since I have read Table for Three. I have loved this series and when I found out she had another book coming out, I decided to take a chance and pre-order this book.

The story is about a Zoe Marshall, Brice's little sister (he is in Table for Three and has his own book Damaged Goods (New York). Zoe has loved Gage, Brice's best friend, since she was born. She has had this "undeniable" (which this story reminds me of a little (only because of the age difference)) connection to him. Gage has only seen her as a little sister until he sees her as a grown women.

Now Gage finds himself very attracted to Zoe but seems to have some internal struggles with his feels for her. Mainly it is because of age (I understand the internal struggle people may have with the age difference, they are about 13 to 14 years apart (Zoe turns 21 in this book)) but it is also the fear of losing his best-friend, Brice.
When Gage finally gives into his feelings, you see the beginning of a D/s relationship.

In this book, in the bedroom, Gage takes lead and he takes it well. But overall, Zoe is the most mature when it comes to her feelings. Yes, she is still young and does grow in this book, but she is not afraid to tell her feelings to Gage, he is fights his feelings for so long, or has never had to deal with these feelings before and did not know how to handle them. I believe it is the latter.

Gage stated it best, "She's started them on this path insisting that she become his slave, and she had instead been the one who enslaved him." It is poetic, raw, and true. This one sentence defines the love of this book and how one choice ( to have a slave) may not be the choice you needed all along. All Gage needed was an innocences defied and the truth presented itself.

The ending is a Happy Ever After (HEA) and it closes out Cade, Riley and Trevor (which I love because I want more books on them) and Terryn and Brice. I really do love how she talks about each of the couples in each book, it shows them as a unit and while living in a D/s or group relationship you need all the support possible.

OH HELL TO THE DAMNEST NO! Why do I torture myself with this crap, honestly? Yeah, I know why, because I have an ability to read bad books.

IF YOU LIKED/LOVED THIS BOOK, THIS AUTHOR OR THIS SERIES, DO NOT READ.

Now, let's continue.

It seems like some authors are compelled to write dumb main female characters. Like "Yeah, let's make her naive and stupid, because that's cool" OH HELL NO.

Zoe, a 19 year old girl, gets a tattoo of his crush's initials. And she's all like "ooh Gage, I love you, you are the love of my life, I'm going to tattoo your name because we are meant to be". Not to mention, her family calls her "Oopsy"... what kind of nickname is that? Like "Your dad and I were using protection but don't know what happened because I got preggers and OOPS, here you are!"

And Zoe... she's dumb:

Nancy was a year and a half younger than Zoe and still a virgin too.
Zoe felt that year and a half made a world of difference.

Yeah, totally *smacks forehead*.

“I am. Women do, you know. It’s so old-fashioned to wait. It’s not like I’m losing my”—here she whispered too—”virginity to just anybody. It’s Gage, and I’m going to marry him so it’s all okay.”

I'm not going to say anything about this. No words, really.

I have to say that this was my favorite book of the series so far. I don't know if it was the I-want-you-but-can't-have-you sexual tension or if it was just Gage himself but it was a sexy, HOT AS SIN read.

Zoe or Oops(not fond of the nickname) was awesome. That girl knew what she wanted and she wasn't going to let anything get in her way. She was sort of quiet and shy but bold and daring at the same time.

Gage was much older than Zoe and has always looked at her like a sister until she stepped off the plane a women. Despite the pull toward Zoe Gage thinks he is to old for Zoe. Then there is the fact that he wants a full time slave/master relationship and loves to share. He knows Zoe isn't ready for his life style.

Little did they both know that love had different plans for both of them. Lainey does a great job of pulling it all together and making everything work out in the end. You also get to catch up with all your favorite characters from the other two book which I really enjoyed. It was a great book I wonder what Lainey has in store for us next ;)

I was apprehensive when I realized how young the heroine is. She turns twenty in this book. She's also the youngest person in her family (and circle of friends and relatives), very sheltered, a sophomore in college who's unsure about what she wants from her future, a virgin, and totally inexperienced when it comes to relationships.

That said, the book/hero wasn't skeevy. The hero was all "you're too young, I'm too old for you, you need to grow up some…", and he was very concerned that his Dom tendencies and experience didn't overwhelm her into experiences she wasn't ready and willing for. I repeat, it wasn't skeevy.

That said, I prefer to read my coming of age stories separately from my erotic romance.

[Updated July 2013, a few days after reading: I originally gave the book 2 stars (disturbing but an okay read), but I keep thinking about the book and I keep thinking "Hell to the no!", so I'm downgrading to 1.5 stars.]

Okay - So, I'm seeing some people being none too thrilled with the age difference of these characters, and yet it was okay for Riley to be 23 and be with TWO men? C'mon now. It's fiction. Believe it or not, that age difference happens a lot more than people realize. There's nothing wrong with it.

Having said that, I have read all Ms. Reese's books and I love them all. I absolutely loved getting caught up with Cade, Trev, Riley, Terryn and Brice. I thought that Gage was not a predator, he was logical and while he may have specific tastes, so what? Zoe was determined and her love for Gage was awesome. She may have been inexperienced but I think that he played it well, taking the steps to get to where they got.

Their story was great. Epilogue was awesome. Thank you Ms. Reese.

Was this supposed to be romantic? Or kinky? Because it was neither! Ew ew ew!

I'm not writing this as a person who doesn't like this genre, I like Dom/sub stories. But this was just stupid! And sexist! Showing a very weak, very stupid, very clingy female! And a very very unrealistic storyline.

This was the perfect ending to the trilogy. Zoe and Gage's story and how love can change what a person wants. I enjoyed how Ry, Trev, Cade, Terryn and Brice ended. The epilogue was awesome.

Bossy, sexy, Southern guy to sweep me off my feet and peel my panties off??? Yes, please!

So, here's the deal, I love this series and I was really excited for Gage's book. He's kinky, definitely dominating, and lord, is he sexy. However, after digesting the book and looking at the overall picture, I think I wanted the envelope pushed just a bit further with Gage. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it. Panty soaker enjoyed it, but I guess I expected a little more perv.

Here's what I liked about Gage: I love that he's a Southern Gentleman, but that he's very firm. I appreciate a guy who takes charge. I love how dedicated he is to his friends. In fact, that's one of the reasons I was so anxious for him to get a book. He has a great friendship with Brice and his family. In fact, it's so good that he's also bonded with Brice's baby sister, Zoe. Here's where things get interesting.

Zoe is an adult, but she's young. She's very naive and innocent in a lot of ways. Zoe's been in love with Gage since she was a little girl. He's always been around and he coddled her just as her family has. So, basically he's seen her as a little sister. Of course, that's changes. One thing about Zoe that I admired the most was her determination. She heads to New York with one thing in mind. She will make Gage hers. She has no idea what kind of lifestyle he leads, so needless to say, things get interesting.

This book is true Erotica. There is lots and lots of sex or play going on. I mean...even 20% in, I was sticking my head in the fridge. I love that about Lainey Reese's books though. She doesn't dilly around with it. She gets to the point, but there's also a story behind it. This whole group of characters lead an interesting BDSM lifestyle. It works for them. Some couples are bit more involved with it and others, I would say are more mild. Gage is one of the most aggressive. He doesn't want a Sub. He wants a slave. Coincidentally, Zoe unknowingly has prepared to be just that.

I will say that Gage was most definitely a Dom with her, I felt like he was lighter on her than he could have been. Gage is dirty and in the second book, he had me beyond turned on. While I liked that he softened up a bit with Zoe, I missed seeing him be a bit more firm. Is that the right word? Another point I wanted to bring up was that I got super excited when the threesome scene started, but I felt like it was a bit dull. Was it a turn on? Yes, but I remembered how hot his threesome scene with Brice and Terryn in book 2. That was out of this world hot! I guess I expected more from Gage.

Overall, I really liked it and I'm glad to have read Gage's story even though I had some minor issues with it. It was great to see the other characters too! One thing is certain though...I will always read Lainey Reese's books. She writes some good sexy!

Quotes:
~Gage didn't know what the hell he was supposed to do now. He has a hard on the size of a Lousiville Slugger and the more she looked at him with those giant blue eyes, the harder it was to remember it was Oops he was staring at and having this reaction to.-Loc 253

~Gage. The most beautiful man she had ever seen. He was big as a Viking, built like a Greek god, and has the voice of a Southern-fried angel.-Loc 1311

Tropes- virgin falls for Dom, BDSM, hero falls for best friend’s sister

The title of this book really sums up the massive problems in it. Someone too innocent was far too defiled.
description/

First, we have our heroine who could not be more innocent. Zoe is a 20 year old college student who everyone still refers to as Oops. (I’m not kidding. At least it is a step up from her original nickname of Oopsy.)
description/
Even worse, the extremely childish nickname fit her personality. She was very immature in both thought and actions.
Nancy’s voice dropped to a whisper. “Are you really gonna let him do it to you?” Nancy was a year and a half younger than Zoe and still a virgin too. Zoe felt that year and a half made a world of difference.

Zoe’s world seems to revolve around a man she has been “in love with” since childhood, her brother’s best friend, Gage. This is no mere crush. She has saved herself for him, going so far as to have barely kissed another boy. Her determination that they were meant to be didn’t come off as someone who felt the pull of fate. It came off as a 16 year old who thought she was going to marry her high school boyfriend.
It’s not like I’m losing my”—here she whispered too—”virginity to just anybody. It’s Gage, and I’m going to marry him so it’s all okay.”

Oops seems to have no sense of self other than that she wants to be HIS. She can’t even decide what to major in because the only part of her future that seems to matter is becoming what he wants in a woman.

Then we take our woman-child heroine and bring her together with Gage. Gage is not only a man with life experience, he is a man who knows EXACTLY what he wants. He wants a slave. (Again, I’m not exaggerating.) He even says himself that he’s looking for a woman to be his slave. Not just a sub but a slave.
A slave gave up everything. Career, self-will—everything.

When his best friend’s sister comes to stay with him, he is shocked and appalled to find that he is attracted to her. It doesn’t take long for Gage to give in to her unpracticed seductions, and he VERY quickly introduces a girl he STILL calls Oops to the delights of heavy BDSM.
description/

On face value, none of these little tropes would bother me. Virgin heroine who dives right into BDSM? Fine. Older man and younger woman? Fine. Best friend’s sibling? Fine. It isn’t the bones of this plot that are disturbing. It’s the combination of the characters themselves. Zoe is far too immature to enter into this kind of relationship. (A good rule of thumb is that if the woman asks to not use condoms on your first encounter because they are “clinical” and used for “sex with people you don’t know,” then she might not be prepared to be ball gagged and shared.) It is made even worse by her main goal in life being to be with THIS man. It is clear from the beginning of the book that she would DO anything, BE anything to be his, so how is the reader supposed to be assured that a BDSM relationship is what she actually wants?

All Zoe ever wanted is one extremely stubborn alpha man all wrapped up in a kinky little package. No matter that he sees her as just a kid. She will do everything in her power to change that really quick!

Zoe, otherwise known as Oops, has dreamed of going to New York by herself. She asks her family for permission and after a bit of arm twisting, she is on her way to begin her plan. The name is endearing, and the new adult freshness makes itself known in this book. Oops has it in her head to visit Gage in New York and find a way to convince him to introduce her into the world of kinky sex. There is also the matter of her virginity. She has plans to marry the delectable Dom, but first she must get him to see past the nickname and focus on her attributes.

Excerpt:

A crowd was moving around the baggage terminal, and Gage looked up to scan for Zoe when a woman caught his eye. She was curvy in a lush, mouthwatering way that made his palms itch. She had jet-black hair that bounced around her shoulders with every step she took. As he watched, one long lock looped over an arm and curled around her right breast as though outlining it, and Gage started forward without meaning to. All thoughts of his beloved kid sister vanished as he kept his sights on that curl and the gently bouncing breast it cradled. He was going to have those breasts by nightfall, he promised himself, and everything else that went with them. Just as he was drawing close and getting ready to make an introduction, the gentle bounce became a faster one as she started running. He stopped in his tracks, unwilling to disrupt her when she was obviously rushing to greet someone. He hoped like hell it wasn't a man, because that would seriously ruin his whole "get her naked and devour every inch of her" plan.
She was going to run right by him, he thought as she drew closer and closer, and just when he started to sidestep, thinking he must be in front of whoever she was meeting, she squealed, "Gage!" and launched herself at him.

I'm going to Hell.

Somehow I don't think his willpower will be a problem for long! *snicker*

This book is full of charm and some very hot sex scenes that delve into several aspects of BDSM. Fun for an afternoon around the house, I laid back and enjoyed this read and can't wait to catch up on the first two in the series. Oops was very kid like in the beginning and it was kind of hard to identify with at first. When she breaks out of her parents' clutches and gets to the fun part of the story, the pages began to fly. The descriptions of the BDSM scenes and interaction between the characters was fun and it was hard to pull myself away to make dinner.

The dynamics between Gage and Zoe are full of sparks and the tension is manic. The tug and pull of want grows so strong it is delicious. Even when Gage insists she finish school. *insert another new adult moment*. It was sweet and fresh in a way you don't always see in BDSM novels. I enjoyed the book.

Great read!
