Allegiance, faithfulness, honor...
Loyalty goes by many names.

Emmie Landon is off-limits. She has a young son, works with my brother Jake, and lugs around enough baggage to fill an entire football stadium. But I can't resist her long, shapely legs and thick, soft curls, begging to be wrapped around my hands.

Mark Harrington is too-everything. Too good looking,

Loyal Subjects came and smacked upside the head with a big dose of “NOW WHO’S YOUR FAVORITE!?” Everyone stand aside because this book will take over your life the second you start reading. Packing everything from heartfelt make you cry emotion to humor that has you cracking up and once again getting the side eye from those around you this book is fantabulous *stop judging my word choices. I love series about families, so I'm not sure how I hadn't heard of this series before. I will be going back to read the first four books (all standalones) when I finally catch up on my ARC's.

Emmie Landon is a single mom to an 8-year old son and works for a pro football team. One of the players on the team, Jake Harrington, invites Emmie and her son Teddy to his family cottage to swim and play on the beach with his big family. While at the cottage, Emmie runs into Jake's brother Mark

Loyal Subjects by Eva Charles is book 5 in the New American Royals series. Mark Harrington is very protective of his family and of the people he loves. He is also a lover with a fighting spirit. Emmie lost her husband in a helicopter accident about 7 years ago after finding out she was pregnant. Her life has never been easy and she has had to fight for the things in her life. She is overly protective of her son Teddy. Mark and Emmie meet through his brother Jake. After that one meeting, Mark imm ...more

This book gave me so much feels.

Eva Charles, a new to me author, has managed to reduce me to tears and heart soar with laughter as she delivered a beautiful love story through the voice of Mark, Emmie & Teddy.

As expected of a romance novel, you have the angst and the drama (Ruth), but what took me by surprise was how natural it all felt. I love the writing and the authentic feeling of the story, which drives me to read them all.

Highly recommended!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

This book. All the feels and just what I needed to read right now. If you have been following me for awhile then you know that I have read every book in this series. You don’t need to read them order at all. That said, why wouldn’t you? Now, I have talked to Ms. Charles and she assured me that I might actually fall harder for Mark than Cole. Some readers did, but I’m sorry, Cole still has my heart. Ever more so because of Mark. Cole’s the oldest and Mark has always been the somewhat troublemaker ...more

I think Mark may just be my favorite Harrington man right now. Loyal Subjects is one fantastic read. It fills your heart so. Mark is a family man and he does what ever it takes to protect his family no matter what. He may make mistakes along the way but you can't help but love him for it. When Emmie and her son Teddy enter the picture you know it's all over for Mark. I love how caring and how easily he falls for them. He treats Teddy as if he is his own son and it is so beautiful to watch ever a ...more

Loyal Subjects is the first book I have read by Eva Charles and I was left wanting more. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to smack people, and most of all I fell in love with Mark, Emmie, and Teddy. Ruth, not so much. Witch.

Mark has to be one of the most patient men I have read about. He was understanding of Emmie and her past and Teddy. Heck, he even tolerates Ruth –that is a ducking chore.

I loved this book, in fact, it might be my favorite in the series. Mark was so thoughtful and understanding throughout the book. Even when things got heated and they forgot to use protection, he thought about here first and tried to alleviate her fears and concerns. He was great with her sin, sigh. And he even tolerated her mother-in-law, all so he could date her. He even ate some humble pie when he acknowledged a mistake he made. Showering Emmie with patience (while pushing her at the same time ...more

Wow! Eva blew me away with this one you felt everything. Emmie had a hard childhood so came into adult life with a lot of baggage. She married her childhood sweetheart and her savior, they had a child together but tragic circumstances separate the lovers forever. She now lives with her son Teddy and mother in law and finds herself a job at the Hawks front office. Emmie gets invited by one of the players Jake to his brother Mark's place for a family lunch. First this is the only one in the series I have read from this author and I am hooked. Not only 5 FANTASTIC STARS but she has gained a new follower and I am heading to one-click the other 4 in the series.

Although this is my first in the series I was not lost or confused. The author is kind so she included the family tree which made it easy to follow. But one thing in this series is it is love through and through. This family is huge has Portuguese backgrounds and t

There's no other way to describe myself and my love for the Harrington's than to just say I'm a Loyal Subject! I love this family so much and Mark just might be my favorite.

Emmie is a member of the walking wounded. While she has it mostly together on the outside, she's got her shattered heart hanging right there on her sweater. A traumatic upbringing full of neglect and abject loss has left her a shell and despite it's emptiness, she has no room for anyone else, except her be

This is a deep, compelling story of love, loss, loyalty, determination and family.

Emmie has had a hard life. This translates to a lack of trust and a bad case of worry where her son is concerned. When Mark Harrington enters her life, Emmie is both afraid of and excited about the way he makes her feel. Mark is determined to love her until she loves and accepts herself the way she is. But is he asking for too much, too soon? Will Emmie let her past dictate who she lets in?

What a sweet read. Mark and Emily meet when she joins Mark's brother Jake for lunch one day. After this one meeting their lives intertwine and Mark can't stop thinking about Emmie. Emmie has had a hard life and is trying to raise her young son the best she can. I enjoyed this book but I have to admit that Emmie's over protectiveness toward her son was a little much to me. The poor kid couldn't even go to the bathroom without a bunch of rules. Yeah, I got it after learning about her past but I wa ...more

Any book that starts off with a Family Tree tells you everything you need to know - these people are going to be all about family! Mark is all that and a bag of chips, and Emmie just about knocks his socks off. These two have chemistry for days, making even the most innocent of encounters feel like you need a shower afterwards.

This book has one of the most hilarious and unique "meet cute" scenes ever, as Mark's brother (who works with Emmie) brings her along to meet Mark for lunch. He soon find

This is Book #5 of the New American Royal series. I have read Books #2 & 4 in this series beside this one. I love the Harrington family. They are so warm and inviting those who are friends into their family as if they were always there.

Emmie has had a rough life. Now she is a widow with a young son and a mother in law, who is not always so nice to her and her choices. The mother in law makes her feel so small and like she is a bad mother. Mark sees Emmie for the first time and is

I've adored each title in The New American Royals, if you are looking for a series, with strong themes of family, friendship and love look no further. Each title in this series is packed full of emotion, heat, heart and humor.

Loyal Subjects is Mark and Emmie's story. Mark Harrington is a family man, he's loyal, loving, caring, and protective, at times a tad too protective, although his heart is always in the right place. He's incredibly intelligent, determined and very patient when it

Truly, what a heartwarming story Eva Charles has gifted readers! Having two characters that melded perfectly, giving one another exactly what they needed, when they needed it, is pure literary bliss. Emmie’s noncommittal personality and Mark’s perseverance is a match made in heaven. Each scene between them unfolded magically; and Mark was the epitome of swoon-worthy. His sensitivity towards Emmie and her family allows for their relationship to grow as needed. And in this heavenly mix of soft and ...more

Eva Charles, is a new to me author. And let me tell you, she has a new fan in me. Loyal Subjects has all the feels in all the right places. I absolutely LOVED this beautifully told story. I LOVED the connections, and the writing style. The story just flowed from start to finish.

Emmie has suffered a lifetime of loss. A terrible tragedy as a child. Losing her high school sweetheart/husband. And being a single mom. I loved her fierceness and determination. And while sometimes a bit overprotective

Emmie suffered a tragedy in her childhood which has shaped her whole life. After the death of her husband she finds herself a single mother to her son Teddy which has made her very overprotective. She has recently joined the Hawks football team as part of the Social Responsibility Team.

I love this series and I love these families!!

A single mother with an overbearing mother-in-law who suffered a horrible, heartbreaking childhood. A strong, sexy, successful man who grew up in a loving family and has a close relationship with his siblings and cousins.

All Mark wants is to love Emmie & Teddy - to be a part of their life, to be their everything, to protect and take care of them. Because of the way she grew up, Emmie has some pretty stiff walls in place. M

Another fabulous book by one of my favorite authors . I have read all of the others in the series and this story about Mark and Emmie was so enjoyable. Mark and Emmie both have their issues to deal with and while they both fight their feelings and try to deal with the past they manage to get past their obstacles. It’s not easy for Emmie as a widow with a young child and domineering mother-in-law. Emmie did not have a great childhood so it is hard for her to see herself as worthy and deserving of ...more

This is a great story. Mark is patient and is amazing mostly. He has his moments like any other person. Emmie is a cautious Widow with a son named Teddy. She is an amazing mother and sweet person. Mark and Emmie meet through his brother Jake. Who is a great guy. Who I can't wait to get his own story. Anyways There first meeting in hilarious and then their journey begins.. It's a wonderful story. Emmie has been through so much and Mark is just perfect for her and Teddy. So glad I read this story. ...more

To score a win, you have to get your head in the game. Loyal Subjects is not about the win, but the battle that keeps you in the game. Mark is a lover with a fighting spirit. Protecting his family is his life's work, but Emmie Landon is his heart's desire. Emmie is fighting her way through a lifetime of heartache. She has a lot of love to give, but is afraid to let her emotions run free. Can the woman who never had love recognize the abundance that is headed her way? Loyal Subjects is about love ...more
A guarded heart is a lonely heart.
A very heartwarming and sometimes frustrating tale of opening your heart after so much heartbreak.

This story is both sad and joyous on many levels. Emily can't, won't, or doesn't know how to let anyone into her heart. As a widow and single mother she holds her relationship with her young son very sacred and is so very overprotective of him. Mark is ready and willing - to his own surprise - to jump in to their inner circle and love them both. Em

What a Great Book!
It had a wonderful storyline and fantastic characters!
Emmie is a widowed single mother. Mark is a sports agent who meets Emmie through his brother. He’s attracted to her as soon as he sees her! It took some work to convince her to let him in. He also had to battle Emmies mother-in-law Ruth.
This story is an emotional ride that I’m glad I was on!

Mark and Emmie story

Emmie lost her husband in a helicopter accident about 7 years ago after finding out she was pregnant. Her life was never easy and she grew up without her mom so she always was very over protective of Teddy .. Along comes Mark who is hot and sexy and everything a woman could want but would he want her and her child? Mark says and does all the right things but when the walls come crashing down will he still be there?

Mark knows how to drive a hard bargain, “fine. I’ll just stand out here and say my piece. You won’t have to talk— you can just listen. I’m sure everyone in the hallway will enjoy what I have to say, too.” Mark is just a demonstration type of man, “that’s why we need good women in our lives to civilize us and keep us on track.” He came up behind me and pressed his erection into the small of my back." I loved this book, I fell in love with Mark.

This is my first Eva Charles book. I must say it will not be the last. This is a romantic story of Emmie and Mark. Emmie's rough childhood, loss of her beloved husband, and single mother taking care of her child and mother inlaw. She is not exactly dating material. Mark is a lawyer with a firery temperment, impulse issues, he says exactly what he thinks. Can these two put the past and their baggage behind them and find each other? Read Loyal Subjects and decide.

After being a confirmed city-girl for more than thirty-five years, Eva moved to beautiful Western Massachusetts in 2014.
