This collections of stories is another really good one. Introducing Marai's mother was a nice touch. I loved how protective she was of Marai and how she didn't like Ponta. Who couldn't like Ponta? Then adding Hana into the mix . . . who is there only to stir up trouble. Hana just cannot accept that Marai would prefer Ponta over her. After all, she is Marai's age, where Ponta looks like she is 12 years old. That is something that confuses me a little. I found Ponta to look really young in this book. Marai, I would guess, is around 17 years old. Ponta looks like she is still in elementary school, yet they are dating. Just an interesting observation . . .
Still the artwork is excellent and the storytelling is fun. I love that Ponta is so innocent, mostly because she is really a dog, and just doesn't understand what is going on most of the time.
Overall, Guru Guru Pon-Chan: Volume 3 by Satomi Ikezawa is another great book and I can't wait to see what other trouble Ponta gets into in Guru Guru Pon-Chan: Volume 4.

June 1, 2015Great book! I'm really getting sucked into this story! I think its charm lies in its simplicity. There's only one story line going on at a time, yet that story is dramatically compelling. Sometimes its nice not to read something very basic and straightforward. Ponta is a great straight-forward character too, she's completely honest, with herself and others, so everything flows quite smoothly with her. Hana, on the other hand, is simplistic, but throws wrenches in everything; she's a grade-A bitch, for sure! When Ponta lost her bone in the river saving Hana, I just about broke down in tears for Ponta. Gou really came through for Ponta and Mirai, but the poor guy is so deep in denial I don't know if he'll ever find his way out. The artwork for this manga is still not as refined as I like, but it's got a great appeal, and is really very pretty, as well as cute where it goes chibi. Over all, I am really starting to love this series! Looking forward to volume 4!
