About the author

Yuyuko Takemiya (竹宮 ゆゆこ Takemiya Yuyuko) is a Japanese writer of light novels. Takemiya debuted in September 2004 with her light novel series Watashitachi no Tamura-kun (Our Tamura-kun) which first appeared in the autumn 2004 issue of Dengeki hp Special, a special edition version of Dengeki hp. That same month, Takemiya worked on the scenario for the bishōjo game Noel by FlyingShine (also known for creating Cross Channel).

Following the completion of Watashitachi no Tamura-kun, Takemiya began her best-known series, Toradora!, which she declared to be complete in April 2010 after ten volumes and three spin-off books. The first book of her next series, Golden Time, was Dengeki Bunko's 2000th published light novel. Takemiya launched the manga series Evergreen with artist Akira Kasukabe on July 19, 2011 in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Daioh Genesis quarterly magazine.

This would have been a 4 for the plot and writing, but Minori and Ami annoyed me so much that I had to knock it down; 3.5 would be the more accurate rating.

Ryuuji and friends go a long weekend away to beach villa of Ami's parents. The trip offers Ryuuji an opportunity to grow closer to Minori, or so they hope. The plan does not exactly work as intended. I feel a bit conflicted about this part. There was surprisingly little fan service for a beach episode, but I suppose we got that in volume 3 with the swimming pool and for me that is one of the selling points of the series. I liked most of the humour, but I am not an overly big fan of what happened near the end. It was a bit too obvious of what was going on, and IMO it just made the MC look really stupid in my eyes. Although the beach house arc is not my favorite in the story, it doesn't fail to be entertaining. We also begin to get deeper insights into Minori and Ami's characters.

I would have loved to binge-read the entire series if it were not for this volume (and the 5th). There is just too much noise going on, and the constant shift of POVs for nonessential characters makes it hard to transition and stay invested.

I might still pick it up again just to reach the ending, since this is one of the OG anime romcoms. But honestly, this volume reads like it was written for 13-year-olds by a 13-year-old. Here is to hoping the next volumes get better, if I even decide to continue.

Really not the best so far, I was a bit excited that there would finally be some action with Kushieda, but there was only a bad plan, badly executed, and then a nice discussion that led to... nothing much, and the plan continued to get worse and very much useless at that point. At this point I only hope the story rebounds... ^^;

A large part of the volume reads like filler. The later parts saved it somewhat, with Minori and Ami showing some development. There is hope that the next volume will be more enjoyable

Toradora is a masterpiece you do not expect. This volume is a brilliant reminder that it’s more than just a romcom with funny tsundere girl. So read volume 1 if you haven’t already, just be sure to continue to here so you can experience it.

Curioso: ellos se van de vacaciones y yo también.
Por otra parte, ¿alguien de verdad entiende a Minori? ¿Ami gusta de Ryuuji o es pura pantalla? ¿Kitamura es un exhibicionista para sentirse libre?
Eso y más lo descubriremos en la próxima novela... espero.
