‘Manda Bathram’ is an extremely popular pop-culture phrase in Tamil for which I’m unable to find an appropriate English equivalent.

The author, Gopinath, is a television host, anchor and interviewer with more than 2 decades of experience in the media industry. He presents his outlook towards life through a collection of short essays covering various facets like friendship, jealousy, productivity and work-life balance, interaction with the society etc.

The best part about this book, in my opinion, is the writing style. A deliberate choice was made to use a very colloquial language to make it seem like someone is actually talking to us. And if you’ve seen him speak on TV, you'd notice how he stamped his mark with his choice of words.

His take on how just being different from the rest is not cool unless you back it up with knowledge, skills and experience was an interesting one. Most of the content reinforces a lot of our thoughts, ideas and beliefs through his personal anecdotes. A few of the ideas and thoughts presented would stay with me for long, not just for the content, but for how effectively it was put across.

The book offers insightful life lessons in a simple, relatable language. It’s a great starting point for anyone getting started with Tamil books or is looking for a light read.

Good book. Gives motivational thoughts and few learning for our life. There are little boring stuffs too but that is the reality happening in a person's life. I expected it to be similar to his book "please intha bookah vangathinga" But it is not. It could have been made better and little crispy.. An average book to enhance our thought process.

Gobinath tried to reflect his different perspective on some of the underrated and overrated things we generally come across on a daily basis. A definite good read.
