This was another excellent book in this series, full of action, plenty of omg surprises, that are so not expected. All the twists and turns I've come to expect and love where all here. This is one heck of a great writing team. There's not been one book I've ever read from them, that was under 4 stars in my opinion. The next book comes out Oct 31st and I can't wait. I am sorry for what was going on in your personal lives, at the time this book was being written. My heart goes out to both of you.
When we intentionally choose pain, we are emotionally prepared for it. When it happens to us, we are victims. --Iris
4.5 stars!
As always, the writing duo of Karpov Kinrade has delivered another novel packed with adventure, funny wit, swoony romance, and plenty of shocking twists. You'd think by now that I would come to expect the unexpected, but they are still fully capable of catching me completely by surprise with "The Twist" and I enjoyed every single minute of this one!
UNSEEN LORD starts off where FIRST HUNTER ends--Iris finds herself locked up with her long-time idol and beloved Queen Arianna (who you will remember from the VAMPIRE GIRL series). She is struggling to come to terms with having just witnessed the [possible] murder of her beau, Elias, while dealing with the disappointment of seeing Queen Ari so weak and helpless. I have to admit that I also found it hard to see Ari this way; she was such a strong and kickass character in the VG world that seeing her shackled, crazed and pretty much useless left a highly unsavory taste in my mouth.
Nevertheless, Iris is undeterred by Ari's state and vows to find a way out of their imprisonment. After Arias (Elias's brother) slit his throat in front of Iris, he captured Iris in the hopes of using her powers for his nefarious plans. However as Iris spends more time with him and the people he is protecting, she discovers he isn't the villain he's made out to be and has been receiving help from unexpected (and familiar) sources, and she must ultimately decide who to trust in order to save all Nine Worlds. The way Iris, Elias, and Arias's story ultimately ends up connecting to that of Ari and Fen in this novel is actually pretty crazy and beautifully intricate. It was great being able to see old and familiar faces, though I'm still holding out waiting for one face in particular....FEN! There was plenty of action and adventure surrounded by Iris's signature humor and wit to keep the story flowing nicely, and I can't wait to see where the story goes from here. Definitely recommend! :)
My Elias, the bad boy rebel Prince aka Iris's beau..
My Asher, the impeccably fashionable Prince of Pride
My Dean, the usually shirtless Prince of Lust
My Tavian Gray, the mysterious and powerful tiger-shifter
My Niam, the still weird Prince of Gluttony
My Ace, the inventive Prince of Sloth

It almost feels as if the authors were undecided on if they wanted to continue telling this story or just end it. This book could’ve easily been split into two books so the overall story could be more developed. Instead a lot of different themes come into play in a very short span of time and then the book quickly ends with an HEA. Story never really does anything on the background of the Unseen Lord. The book ends without having a clear understanding of what Iris’s newly discovered identity is meant to be within the overall storyline. Arias’s and Elias’s characters were butchered from their leading roles in the first book to secondary characters you almost stop caring about by the end. Disappointing from these authors given the earlier book in the series. If you read the first book you should just finish the story by reading this one - but I warn you you probably won’t like it...
I'll be honest, it took me second to get into the groove of the second installment in Iris and Elias's story, but once I did, I felt like I was running from one place to the next the whole time. The book just flew by with no shortage of wit from Iris and intrigue with everything else. Including a character 180 that I didn't see coming, but really enjoyed. Icontinue to really enjoy Iris and really liked how her story wrapped up. I hope we get to see her pop up in some future VG books. After all, we still dont know what her 3rd fear is! I also look forward to seeing who's story will be told next!
Again, another book that was ### pages too short. A story that has great potential, but again felt very rushed. There are so many different perspectives that could have been told from to add to this story, but we still get the rushed and partial view of Iris. Hilarious and witty, I LOVE her perspective, but this story leaves me wanting. I feel that so much is skipped over so that you can hurry up and get to the "important" parts, that development is missed altogether. I love most these characters and feel I know them from the first four books, but without that background knowledge of them and the kingdoms they fight for from the first four, I feel I would be lost.
This is a great read! Iris is hilarious, it's so fun being in her head for most of the book!! Actually, the book is full of fun characters and entertaining character dynamics. The book itself isn't that long, but it's action-packed, making it so hard to put down! I liked getting to visit some of the characters from the original Vampire Girl series, too. The plot twist was awesome, and when you finish the book there are lots of unanswered questions...perfect openings for all the other books planned for this series, and I can't wait to read them!!
Iris is back again bringing with her all the action that seems to follow her. She is a very real character and I felt as though I was on a journey with a great friend. Characters from other books in the series make appearances and more surprises are revealed making for exciting reading. Some of the scenes I could imagine being played out by the authors while they were writing them, I imagine it must have been fun to write. I honestly can't wait to read the next book when it's released.
This series pulls you in and leads you on a captivating journey. The characters are neither good nor evil but flawed in a way that makes them seem believable. Lots of supernatural creatures, all with unique gifts and stories to tell. After so many books Theo and Elias feel like old friends and I became invested in the outcome. Great series and I appreciate the release of this book despite the authors real life heartache. Time heals all wounds eventually and I know this to be true for the most part.
My goodness gracious! What a book, I have truly enjoyed these series, the comments and wits of Iris have made my days brighter, and forget about the rest of the world. I love these characters.
Note for the author: I am truly sorry for what you went through while writing this book, and I hope everything is going better for you! Thanks for this amazing story and I cannot wait for the next installment! Wish you the best!
I just love Iris. She is this super awesome leading lady. Funny and sarcastic, just something you dont see very often. She was also strong and powerful and you could relate to her. She finds out she is an unseen lord but has no idea what that means. She gets kidnapped and then things hit the fan. The book moves at a good pace. It sucks you in and before you know it, it's been hours. You need to read the other books or you will be lost. The characters and stories carry over. This series has become one of my favorites and I can never wait for another. They write such amazing characters.
I have to say... I loved the second installment of Iris and Elias's story. It was stacked full of laughter and emotion and the witty humor kept me chuckling throughout the story. Unseen Lord was a fast paced and action packed read. I was happy to be reunited with some of our most beloved characters from the Vampire Girl series and surprised to find myself falling in love with even the most seemingly unlovable new character(s). A 5 star read for me. I can't wait for the next installment!
I love how Iris’ story is told in her unique voice. The characters in this book are likable and so much fun. The story is complete and fulfilling yet leaves you wanting more. Iris and Elias’ story will keep you on your toes. It has a great plot twist You would never expect. So worth your time. If you haven’t read the other Vampire Girl books you don’t know what you’re missing.
The new style in the writing of this new series entwined with the fantastical series of vampire girl is wonderful... I love iris, her humor is needed and her crassness is refreshing, its blunt and I love it. Shes someone everyone can relate to and strive to be. She is a true hero.
I highly recommend this book and all her other books that will undoubtedly entwine with all her other series or spinoffs, whether it be big or small.
I just cant get enough of the magic these writer put into their stories. Brilliance is pouring from the pages if I had those not just the Kindle version of them. Anyways only thing that could have been worked on is the mistakes here and there, but all and all Best read you could find. Quite sad that this couples story is already done and the big evil defeated, but in the end it will be nice to find out even more about other loved characters.
This is another great Karpov Kinrade book. The pacing was decent and the characters were funny (as always). I suspected the main twist, but it was done in a satisfying way. The other twists were nice as well. It was an overall good book that is easy to read in one sitting due to the length. I am voluntarily reviewing this book, gifted to me by the author, with no obligation.
Karpov has done it again with another great novel in the world of Vampire Girl. It's full of adventure, love, and fear. Iris is portrayed as a powerful woman that won't stop for anything to save her world. The love that Iris and Elias has formed is unstoppable. I have enjoyed this book series since book one,and looking forward to the next in the series. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have.
I love this world so much and enjoyed learning more about Iris. I also loved how we find out about another world referenced in one of this author's other books, which I really am a fan of as well. Each new revelation thrills me more and makes me excited and longing for more books in this world! I just can't wait for the next!
This book was fun to read... I really loved it Iris learns more secrets about herself of which surprises herself.. Elias learns more of how to accept himself as the royal son he is.. You will find lots of adventure with exciting action, and a few surprises along the way.. If you want to know more you will need to read it for yourself to see what happened..
I had a lot of fun reading the next installment in the VG series. It wasn't perfect but it still was fun to escape and have an adventure. There is a lot of room for more and I am looking forward to the next book.
I found this series easy to follow and enjoyed the characters. There are plot twists and turns that are surprising and only necessary backstory. I look forward to reading more from these authors.
Once again, another amazing book from Karpov Kinrade. I couldn't put it down and managed to have it read in less than 24 hours. They never disappoint, even while going through some things in their life, they still manage to release an awesome read.
The book keeps you going with real world conversations and funny lines that always make you smile and relate to iris. The story has sadness and happiest and glory of a life they cant wait for.
The characters and writing were much better in this story. The action was great. Questions were answered. Still some mysteries remain. The integration of the world's was good. I would recommend this book.
Loved this installment! I’m looking forward to the next book and finding out what happened to Fin! Also, if y’all want to fill us “little birds” in on that 3rd fear...yeah, that would be swell, it’s gonna naw at the back of my mind haha!
I liked this book a lot more than the last book of the series. I was hooked from page 1 and couldn't stop until I finished the book. I can't wait to start Fallen Star and to finally be caught up with the series.
I love Iris quick wit. Her love story was full of adventure and unexpected twists and turns. I loved reading with all the old characters as well as the new. Amazing story.
I am really enjoying this series, almost as much as the first for books. I liked how some over the characters tied into this series as well. I really hop the story continues to find Fen. I look forward to seeing what’s next.
Very different tone than the first 4 books. It's almost as if books 5-6 could be read separately from the other 4 but it's nice to have the back story. Looking forward to seeing how the series ends with book 7
