The sheep dress as ghosts and are off to trick or treat, however one by one they run away as they encounter other frightening costumed trick or treaters. This was an ok book, but the counting concept that is tied to it is very weak.

Six sheep decide to go trick or treating dressed up as ghosts. One by one they get, fairies, hobos, goblins and witches until one is left to trick or treat at the -- surprise -- party barn. This kids counting book has colorful illustrations and a nice surprise ending were kids can try to find the ghost sheep in the crowd at the party.

We read this awhile back from the library. It wasn't the best book mainly because the counting backwards from five or ten has been done to death. But, we can never have enough Halloween books and for 50 cents can you really go wrong?
I loved the animals in their costumes and how they were described ("gaggle of goblins" and such). Great laugh there. It had a bit og a 5 Little Monkeys thing going on as sheep kept leaving one by one. And a lot of repetitiveness. Would work for PreK, but not K-4.

Are people still dressing up as 'hobos' for Hallowe'en? In other words, homeless, poor people -- their lived experience?

Apart from that slight weirdness, good. My Australian daughter now knows what a 'hobo' is.

It is fun to see all the animals in their costumes and the scary surprise waiting for them all at the end of the book. A good Halloween counting book.
Adorable! I love the pictures, and for a non-story, the text isn't bad.
This book is a counting book, so there is very little plot. The art is surprisingly intriguing though.

This is a cute Halloween counting book. Six sheep dress up as ghosts to go trick-or-treating. They keep getting scared until only one sheep is left.

Very nice illustrations and a fun little book.

A cute counting book, with fun alliteration, good for little ones who are just beginning to appreciate Hallowe'en.

Erm. Ok. The counting part was cute. It's a bit un-PC for a modern audience, though.

The descriptive jargon used in this book was a treat, but a few elements such as "they whisked by a warren of witches" was a little beyond my 4 yr olds comprehension.
