I liked the book. I like all of what Lindsey writes, especially the Men of Mercy books. This was Cord's book and as with the other men he has something he has to prove to himself. The question is will and return to active duty or not?

When he's sent on a test as private security in the field little does he know that the Sam he's to protect is the Samantha from high school and his crush that never went away. You'll have to read to figure out what happens and if he goes back. It definitely leaves y

This was a great story about healing and second chances, with some suspense added in. Cord and Samantha were good friends in high school, but Samantha always had a crush on him. Cord didn't think he was good enough for Samantha, so he kept her friend zoned and kept his feelings hidden. There second chance happens several years later when after being injured, Cord is assigned to protect Samantha from a stalker.
I absolutely loved this book. This is a fast pace read that I read in one sitting. Coul

Cord’s Chance by Lindsay Cross
Men of Mercy #7

This Novella length second chance at love story stars amputee SEAL sniper Cord Carter and ranch owner Samantha “Sam” Bishop. Cord has sustained a battle injury and spent months in rehabilitation to be combat ready when called back to his team. Before going back he is given a “test” and the test is to guard Sam Bishop from danger. First time reading Lindsay's work. The book started good. It's a good story, but it lacks depth. A lot of it. I didn't feel the angst or the romance and pretty much I knew who the bad guy(s) were a few chapters before the big reveal.

Unfortunately, the powers that be have other plans for him. In order to prove that he is good to go back, he needs to take on a private security assignment.

Chance is Destiny!
Cord's Chance is a second chance romance that hits all the right notes. There is a hint of nostalgia, a dash of heartbreak, a heaping helping of suspense, and chemistry that tantalizes and sets the pages on fire. Sam and Cord are both strong, loyal, determined characters. They each have their own vulnerabilities and insecurities that make them realistic and memorable. This story is sexy and fast paced. The heat and the love between these characters just can't be denied. I hope

A whole man who deserves a whole love!

This is my first book by this author and I definitely want to try more by her, even though I missed some things in the reading.

It's a standalone that is also part of a series (Men of Mercy). Kind of a second chance romance between Samantha and Cord.

Cord is a warrior, a sniper fighting for his country. But when a tragedy happens, he is faced with the possibility of never going back to the field, never going back to the dangerous life he loves so much! He lost

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I have to say this was not my favorite Cross book but it was still a great read. I just felt like Cord should of had more to it. This is most likely more of a personal want and opinion but I really wanted to see Cord work out his internal struggles more.
I loved Cord and really felt for him. I could not imagine how hard it is to get back up after losing a leg. Cord definitely has a chip on his shoulder and battles in his

Cord Carter is used to pushing the limits not just physically but mentally. Cord is a former Special Forces sniper. Former due to losing his leg, which ended his career, unless he can prove otherwise. He's finished a year of rehab and is still struggling - emotionally, mentally, and physically. Cord wants to prove to himself that he's still useful and is given the chance with a security firm. Cord's Chance is a standalone book in the Men of Mercy series with a cross over to the Fury Security series about a team of SEALS and the women who love them.

Cord is a sniper who was on a mission with another team. They were ambushed and most of the team lost. Cord lost his leg below his knee and feels a lot of guilt about missing something he should have seen. His whole goal, for nearly a year, has been to regain his skills mentally and physically to rejoin his team. He pushes his body hard, an

Let me begin by saying that I have read almost all of the Men of Mercy books and some are longer than others. Cord's Chance is one of the shorter books so I consider it more of a novella because I read it in one sitting. Cord's Chance ties together the Men of Mercy series with the Fury Security book. Cord was injured while on overseas and has been in rehab trying to recover both mentally and physically. His C.O. feels that before he is released back into active duty that he should do a civilian ...more

A Wonderful Story!

This story is full of grit and determination. Cord has overcome a debilitating injury. His test is to go out in the field and see if he still has what it takes to prove that he can still be good enough to get back onto the Team. Meeting Samantha again gives him more to prove than his ability to protect his brothers, he has to save her life.

I love how this story gets right down to the nitty gritty with giving Cord the immediate challenge of making his way around a ranch full of

Yoo-hoo! Another Men of Mercy book, my favorite series by Lindsay Cross with Operation Mayhem following closely on its heels. Cord’s Chance gives us a life changing wounded Cord. What is admirable from the first page on is his determination to not give up but like his friends, to continue to push himself in his recovery. Taking the protection detail is just one more “step” on his recovery, fit for service journey. However, it becomes another life changing event for Cord.

I love a good second chance romance, what I love more is when the couple truly heals from the past and move to the future. Cord can be his own worst enemy. Cord is given a chance to prove he is ready; he just needs to go to Texas to assist a rancher.

Cord's Chance is an emotionally well written book that grabs the reader from page one and doesn't let go. Cross is not afraid to bring light to the physical and emotional scars our military men and women come home from war with.
