Chemistry is not another word for love.

That’s what my boss, the grumpy single dad with brilliant green eyes, says anyway.

I have my V-card. He’s ten years older than me. I work for him.

Nate Hughes has a million reasons why a relationship between us would never work. Honestly? It’s all a farce.

He can’t deny the sparks when we’re together. His soft smiles, brief touches, and protective behaviors come too easily. And when I need a place to stay? He can’t stop himself from offering me a room—though I’d prefer his bed.

Our forced proximity brings things to a head. Our shared experiences and traumas draw us closer. Our undeniable attraction has us toeing the line between friends and lovers—whether Nate likes it or not.

He’s right—we do have an intense chemistry. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t fall in love with him … even if he can’t love me back.

SWEET can be read as a standalone novel.

There's nothing I love more than finding a fantastic fictional world and getting to spend more time in it with each additional romance. Page Carmichael's story is a sort of bridge between the amazing Landry family we've come to love and the upcoming series featuring all of Paige's brothers and the oh-so-endearing Carmichael family.

Paige loves nothing more than to rib her boss at the bar where she works. To be honest, Nate Hughes is a bit grumpy and could stand to loosen up some, but Paige sure knows how to push his buttons. When she gets evicted from her apartment, Paige ends up staying with Nate and his son Ryder, and it's only a matter of time before this gasoline and fire combust.

We get the anticipated humor and smoking chemistry (yowza!) but this one has an extra depth of heart. Page and Nate both come from difficult childhoods that influence their values and ideas about relationships, and their working through and overcoming those challenges is beautifully poignant. Then there's the adorable little Ryder who steals every scene while absconding with the reader's heart.

This crafty storyteller has outdone herself with Sweet, reminding us that it’s valid to feel the fear but then move beyond it with determination, faith and hope. With the perfect mix of humor, heat, and heart, this phenomenal, touching story will leave your romantic heart immensely satisfied while still wanting more of these endearing characters. Make sure you don’t miss it!

Holy. Cherries. Wow. Just, wow. I fell hard for Nate and Ryder when I read Camilla and Dominic's story so I have been really looking forward to this, and man alive I was NOT disappointed! What an incredibly well written book! I just loved them all so much! And the glimpses into the lives of other characters we know and love was just SO much fun! I cannot wait to get Troy's story (ha!) despite how tiny his cameo is in this book, but holy smokes Adriana just nailed it! You won't be prepared for the love, the heat, the chemistry, and the joy that flows out of this love story. So just grab a box of tissues and dive in, you won't be sorry! Smoking hot! See y'all on another page!

Paige Carmichael works at The Golden Room a bar owned by Nate Hughes, single dad and hotness personified. Paige is 10 years younger, still in college and trying to figure out life. Nate is the best dad ever, so responsible, loving and caring. He knows he has feelings for Paige but he also knows he can’t go there, she’s off limits.
Paige needs a place to crash and Nate being the amazing guy that he is doesn’t hesitate to let her into his home. Will they find their way to forever?

Oh Nate Hughes, you’re not just boyfriend material. You come with the ring and chapel included, you hubby, you! There’s nothing more sexy than a man that knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to lay it all out. The way he talks to Paige and encourages her to be honest and open, EVERYTHING!
Their chemistry is amazing, not only hot but so fun and easy! Real! They fit together perfectly, having tormented pasts gives them a level of understanding that’s hard to come by. They are each other’s rocks and it’s just amazing.

I know this book is not about him, and you can totally read it as a stand-alone BUT Hollis Hudson!!! He’s Paige brother and they just recently reunited. He looked for her for so long and finally found her! HE’S THE MOST AMAZING BIG BROTHER EVER. Their interactions are everything. Thank you, Addy for listening to your fandom and giving us their happy endings 😭❤️

Sweet is a shining example of Locke's talent, with words on the page masterfully woven. It casts a spell that makes reality fade away, while every part of you is enveloped in a world filled with love.

I love how Locke's books promise an escape from all of life's stresses, a love story, and the fortified bond of a loving family; you'll walk away with love in your heart and a lightness inside you.

Paige, fictional or not, was the person I needed today. From her wit to the broken pieces of her heart, her strength as she battled her own thoughts bled through the pages. This reminded me that while she was fictional, I wasn't alone. She was sassy, witty, and underneath it all was a girl who was repressing her desire to live her most fulfilling life. The weight of the past was preventing her from taking the risk and losing her heart.

Nate *sigh*, single dad looking for his forever woman, swoony with a side of broody, add a dash of jealousy, and he transforms into the possessive, growly alpha that wet dreams are made of... I'm speechless... From "I'm going to woo her" to "Grrr....mine." What more could you want? Well, he's a single dad who adores his child above all else, so if anyone ever tells you that there's no such thing as the perfect man, Nate Hughes is here (fictionally) to prove them wrong.

Their chemistry was off the charts from the start. It was bolstered by the friendship they had, but it was also more than that. It was as though from the moment they met they had begun building a home together, but neither one realized it was happening. Everything between them was effortless, even with the push and pull between them. Their flirty banter acted as foreplay, and it was only a matter of time before one of them snapped.

Nate and Paige made every heartstring tingle. Every emotion the character experiences hits you right in the gut. There were times when I just wanted to hug them. Despite their varying upbringings, it seemed as if the moment they met, their souls recognized the pain within. As a result, they became one another's solace in the midst of life's chaos.

Sweet is the most aptly named book in history...

An intoxicating blend of explosive chemistry, a sweet swoony hero, a sassy heroine, entertaining banter, feels, and steam, set in a world that offers a sense of home and unconditional love, allows you to feel lighter long after reading the last word.

One thing is guaranteed whenever I pick an Adriana Locke romance. She will make me smile and swoon and then make me fall in love with every character instantly. Sweet is another example. Nate is an amazing hero with his swoonworthy alpha protective personality and Paige made my heart break for her. Their adorable, flirty and yet, heartaching story is full of all the feels and steamy perfection.

Paige Carmichael is struggling with her identity even when her adopted parents are best people. Her boss and owner of The Gold Room, Nate Hughes always makes her feel safe. But he has a sweet boy named Ryder and he is looking for something permanent in life. Paige is much younger and has so many conflicting feels. When she asks for a place to stay temporarily after being suddenly evicted, they both know it's a bad idea to stay at Nate's place. But all good things start with a bad idea.

This book is just the kind of story that makes me smile till my cheek hurts and then makes me burn with the slowly building chemistry. Nate is just perfect. Single dads are my weakness and Nate is the best father for the best kid. He is deliciously alpha. He fought his feelings too long because he was not sure if Paige is ready but finally he decided to claim Paige as his and oh wow, his intensity was just too hot. Possessive. Protective. He is the perfect dream man. He has a dark past but he built himself to be a good man. Paige has a very troubled and traumatic past. That has made her scared of opening up and fearful of getting abandoned. She is messed up in her head. She is such a beautiful soul with sass and fire but inside, she has so much doubts. And that makes her destroy good things too. But Nate made her feel warm and comfortable and she gave in. The chemistry was super hot. The emotions ranged from sweet to heartbreaking to angsty to cute. And my heart is so full. This book is the last standalone book of Landry family and can be considered the first book of Carmichael family series( Paige has SIX brothers). And I loved the big colourful family and friends' crew.

This book. This is the exact reason I love Adriana and her books. This story. These characters. And just THIS story! This is a story we’ve all been waiting for. Paige and Nate. And Ryder too. I devoured this book. Well as much as I can with a puppy underfoot these days. But seriously, this book. I laughed and cried. We got to visit the Landrys again. And got introduced to a new family I can’t wait to read about! But most importantly, Nate and Paige are EVERYTHING! I love this story with my whole whole heart. It was everything and then some!

At times playful and at times heart wrenching, Sweet is at all times 100% consuming. Nate and Paige are both raw and real, and while their relationship is complex, their happy ending is as deserved as it is destined.

I've been dying to get my hands on this book and it was well worth the wait! I absolutely adored Paige and Nate's relationship and how close they were. There was so much sexual tension between all of their banter and it made the story really intriguing. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see them give in to their need for one another. I have to say, I think the chemistry between Nate and Paige has made this my favorite book from this series - Sorry Lincoln!

Overall, these characters did not disappoint and I highly recommend this book. It can definitely be read as a standalone but there are other characters mentioned that could possibly spoil previous books for you so just a warning.

Nate Hughes and "Harlee" Paige Carmichael are finally here! Sweet is the 6th book in the Landry Family series by Adriana Locke though it can certainly be enjoyed as a stand alone, Adriana's books are filled with so much sweetness, heat and heart that you will want to read them all anyway! Nate is not technically a Landry but he is connected to them just as Paige is connected to the Mason Family and the upcoming Carmichael family series.

I fell in love with Nate and his son Ryder in Swink and thought that he had found his HEA with Camilla's friend Joy. But then Adriana went and switched things up on us- and I can't say that I hated how it all turned out. Nate may hold his cards close and come off as grumpy to those who don't know him well but oh man is he swoon-worthy. Not only is he caring and protective but he has the whole kind, loving and cute side that shines through especially when he's with his son. Paige is a whirlwind of sunshine and sass and I love it- though she wears it all as a shield of armor around her heart.

The flirting and friendship between Nate and Paige sizzle with undercurrents of their attraction despite all of Nate's attempts to hold back. Paige may be the opposite of everything Nate thinks he is looking for- as he is the opposite for Paige- but there is no denying the ease of their connection. They can connect and feel seen as who they are today while releasing the burdens and pains of their pasts. It brings a level of emotion to their story that hit me all in the feels.

As much as I love Paige and Nate, I'm also REALLY excited for the spin-off series of the Carmichael family. The bits and pieces that were shared about Paige's 5 brothers has me bouncing in anticipation- and if there is one thing I know, it's that Adriana knows how to write big families with big personalities and the results are always fantastic!

Well, almost had my first 4 star read of the year all the way up until approximately the 75% mark & then the miscommunication happened that should’ve been squashed in one conversation lingered for multiple chapters 🤦🏻‍♀️. Even so, it rounded out, founds its way through that stumble & was still pretty good.

If anyone deserved a happy ending is Paige Carmichael .
As soon as Adriana announced the book, I was anxiously waiting for it. To say it didn’t disappoint is an understatement. Page and Nate have an employ / boss friendship based on trust and laced with flirting.
When she’s evicted, because her friend didn’t pay rent, the first person she thinks of turning to for help is him. I found it amusing how much they liked each other, yet thought it’s going to be easy to live under the same roof. I can’t find the right word to express how much I enjoyed reading it. In the beginning it was all fun and flirty, in the middle the temperature turned up, after they finally gave in. Let’s just say that every virgin out there might dream to have a Nate for their first time. I loved the way Adriana integrated Ryder, Hollis and the Carmichael's into the story, without them overshadowing the couple’s relationship. Everyone rooting for Harlee(Paige), will be as trilled as I was for the interaction between the siblings, but also for knowing she had a good family taking care of her. It's no secret I love single parent books, Ryder made the story so much better, especially his relationship with Paige.
Nate is perfect, there’s no other word to describe him. As an employ he is kind but annoying , he’s a good father, and I would like to say he’s patient with Paige because he’s older, but I think it’s just who he is as a person.
Their relationship was the sweetest to read about, the kind of story where you start and don’t want it to ever be done with. But don’t let yourself be fooled, it might start easy, but we get that life lesson I’m used to from Adriana. We all struggle in some form, but as long as we have our loved ones beside us, everything is going to be easier. But most of all we need to don’t let fear stand in the way of what we want. I shed a few tears when they had their doubt and fears come front.
I know my review is vague, but some stories are better experienced not knowing what to expect and let them surprise you. It’s a book I highly recommend if you’re looking for your next five star read.

Rest in the forever made for you

When I got the synopsis that we would finally get Nate Hughes' story, I was ecstatic. Then to find out his match is our missing Harlee, I knew this book was gonna captivate me like all her other family series.

Paige Carmichael is so much more than I was expecting. I will say she felt like a completely different person than the Harlee us readers have been searching for. She's sassy and bold. She's trying to figure out how to be happy with the life she's been given after a traumatizing start. And she's absolutely real!

Nate Hughes is every bit the grumpy guy we remember from Swink. He lives and breathes for his son. Standing on his own two feet is all he thinks he can shoulder at the moment. He's a grumpy boss by day and a compassionate cooking dad at night. He'll melt your panties with a lick of your finger and give a new meaning to a cherry on top.

Little Ryder Hughes, he is soo damn adorable. You're not at all ready for the cuteness he's going to unload.

This book lined up with the family series I've come to love from this author. With surprise appearances from some beloved characters and introductions to the Carmichael family.

Adriana Locke served up another incredible story.

Nate and Paige, as well as Nate's little boy Ryder, bring so much to the table. Their story is packed full of emotion, chemistry, and heat. Nate is a fantastic single dad who will go above and beyond for everyone in his life, but never at the expense of his little boy. Ryder will always come first, period. Paige is a younger woman, who has lived one helluva life full of immeasurable ups and downs. She's uncertain, lacks trust in herself and the future, and is in need of the TLC that Nate (and even Ryder) can give.

Their chemistry is off the charts, and Nate has a more dominant side in the bedroom that had me swooning and turned me into a puddle. His alpha is the absolute cherry on top of this incredible story.

DNF @ 30% - bored - started to skim then gave up. Didn't really like the h. I also don't like it when single dads use their kid as a reason to avoid relationships. I barely tolerate kids in books at all... but a sad sack commitment-phobe who hides behind a kid isn't my kind of hero. People have kids and date all the time. I did appreciate that he wasn't hung up on his ex.... but not enough to save this one.

I always know that I’m going to love a book when it’s written by Adriana but this book was even more than that. I not only loved this book, I couldn’t stop thinking about it once I finished it. Nate was the perfect combo of grumpy and sexy and responsible all mixed into a wonderful choice for Paige. I really enjoyed seeing her story come to life and my heart ached for what she had been through growing up. I am super excited to see the next series and learn more about her wild brothers!

I am always ready for a Adriana book but then it is part of the Landry series, Oh Yes !
This is Nate Hughes and Paige Carmichael's story and yes it sweet, emotional, heartwarming and it brings on the sweet heat. This couple is also surrounded the most wonderful and fun supporting cast!
Paige is a student, waitress and Nate's employee. Nate is a business owner, single dad and smitten with his employee Paige. He is the strong silent type but has such a big heart and is so giving.
Paige is funny, sassy and knows how to push Nate's buttons. They dance around one another for months until she finds herself in dire need of housing and Nate offers her a room. This just got a whole lot more complicated.
I just loved watching this couple navigate work life, home life and then the couple world. Nate's son Ryder was a breath of fresh cute air to this story.
Such a Sweet Ride with Nate and Paige.

All the feels! You want to both hug Paige and shake the nonsense out of her. Same for Nate! I just want to whack him in the back of the head. And Ryder is perfect! All the emotions, the insecurities, the fears are so relatable. This story was worth the wait! Bring on the next set of books!!!

“I realized that it doesn’t matter what I tell myself. You’re already my girl in my head.”

Nate and Paige’s story is a great addition to the series. I just love all these interconnected series because I know it's going to be sweet, heartwarming with great characters. And of course, you always get a glimpse of the previous characters and it's always fun to get a little bit of their life.

Sweet is such a suiting title for Nate and Paige’s story because these two is just sweet together and their story is too. These two just makes your heart flutter. Both Nate and Paige are attracted to each other, but she is his employee and much younger than him. Paige flirts with her boss to push his buttons. But when she found herself evicted, she had to seek help from Nate. And everyday living with that man definitely did not help with their attraction and chemistry.

At first glance, you wouldn't think these characters have their own issues. Take Paige, she flirts a lot and is just happy all around but she has trust and commitment issues as a result of her childhood. Nate also has a bad childhood and it's important for him to give Ryder, his son, a better life. That's why their story is beautiful, seeing them overcome all those things together. And I loved Ryder's involvement in their relationship. I loved him so much!

I'm so looking forward to the Carmichaels series next!

The title of this book couldn't be more accurate because if this story was anything it was sweet!
Nate is a dream man. He was a devoted father, business owner and could resist temptation like nobody's business. He too had a crappy childhood and he wanted to protect his son against everyone and everything.
Paige start in life was too not so great and the trauma keeps making her do things that are only damaging her. But when she falls in his arms the world turns on its axis and she finally feels safe and home. The drama was just as you'd expect from someone with a lot of baggage but the ending was perfect because as they said you need to face your fears in order to overcome them and Paige did just that with Nate and Ryder's help .

I'm finishing this with excitement because we got a glimpse into Carmichael's brothers and boy oh boy do they sound fun. I can't wait!!!

Sweet is Nate and Paige’s story and it’s the perfect addition to the Landry Family Series, it also has the perfect title because everything about this romance is sweet, caring and it’s also full of love and friendships.
Paige Carmichael’s story is the bridge to join the Carmichael’s and the Landry’s and if Sweet is any to go by we have some exciting reads ahead of us with the families we have come to love.
Paige works for Nate Hughes and she loves to push her grumpy bosses buttons, she loves to rub him up the wrong way to see what reaction she can get from him. But when she finds herself homeless it’s Nate that offers her his spare room and that’s how she comes to live with him and his son Ryder. From the moment she moves in sparks fly so how long will it take before lines are crossed …….
Paige and Nate both come from troubled childhoods and at times is difficult for them to form relationships but this journey is all about determination, love and challenges. This journey has all the feels, I adored this couple, it’s steamy and witty but honestly it was an adorable little boy named Ryder that stole my heart. I highly recommend this captivating journey to all romance lovers.

Let me just say good things come to those who wait! It feels like I have been waiting for this book forever. But I knew that I could trust Adriana Locke to wait until this story came to her naturally and she knows when not to force it. Because when it’s right it’s magic, and that’s what Sweet is, it’s magic.

We have two people who have not had picture perfect lives, in fact some of it was pretty terrible. But together they let their guards down and really show each other how their pasts could define them if they let it. But the question is, will they give into the fear and let it, or will they fight for the one thing that scares them the most?

This is Adriana at her best, there is so much emotion in this story, and the heat, I mean come on. I love all things Adriana, and I am so excited for what comes next, a whole new family for us to love!!

Go grab this book, go grab all of Adriana’s books, they are everything you never knew you needed!

Nate is a single dad. He has a son named Ryder. Paige is a younger woman who works for him. Paige has a thing for Nate, but being older and a single father, he refuses to cross that line, regardless of their chemistry. His son is his first priority. Paige is always upbeat, friendly, and loves to pull Nate's chain. When she gets evicted from her apartment, she has nowhere to go and asks if she can stay at Nate's temporarily until she finds another apartment. Grudgingly, Nate lets her move in temporarily, but there are rules.

This story was a fun read. I loved everything about it. Nate is broody and borderline grumpy, his son Ryder will melt your heart, and Paige is such a fun-loving woman who is just what Nate needs to break down his barriers.

Absolutely incredible! I had been anxiously awaiting Paige's story forever. This book was absolutely worth the wait. Paige and Nate were perfection together. I loved their story. It was a beautiful love story that was so very real. Paige's anxieties were something that I think alot of us could relate to. Adriana Locke wrote this book so beautifully and so sweet. I was very sad to get to the end of the book because it was over. I definitely could have read about Paige and Nate for so much longer. The family aspect was amazing and so beautiful, and I can't wait to meet the Charmichel family in the up coming books.
I have no words for how much I loved this book. I highly recommend.
I read an arc for my opinion.

I absolutely adored Sweet!! Seriously—Nate is a total DILF (cherries included please) and Ryder is so stinking cute!! The way he ‘mans up’ to Nate is so sweet 😉 and the way he just absolutely loves Paige 💞

Paige & Nate both have had terrible things happen in their pasts and they are at different stages of their lives…but life & fate have decided they need each other. After months of some serious flirting Nate steps up and helps Paige out…

Sweet is sweet, sexy, a little heartbreaking, super swoony & so stinking cute💞 I give it all the pancakes with syrup hearts & a cherry on top 🥵

I love that we get Hollis, the Landrys and a glimpse of the Carmichaels❤️ can’t wait to see what these brothers have in store for us😑

Fave quotes:

He stares me down and waits for me to flinch. Men bigger and meaner than you have tried and failed, kid.—-I love the bond that Paige & Ryder have💓

“Listen to me,” he says, squishing my lips together. He stares into my eyes like we’re about to discuss the end of the world. Maybe we are—the end of our world as we know it. “I’m listening,” I say as clearly as I can. He’s undeterred. “You are the only one of us that’s not scared of anything. You have to be the grown-up and be responsible. Okay?” “Okay.” He leaves his eyes pinned to mine to drive home his point. Like I don’t already understand. I set him on his feet. He straightens his shirt and huffs back to the doorway. “No work today. We’re gonna find Paige,” he says, storming down the hallway. “I’m tired of you being lazy about it.”—-I freaking love this kid🥰

“I always thought I needed to find someone to share my life with. But it was the opposite.” “What do you mean?” I twist my head and kiss the side of her cheek. “I needed to find someone that I couldn’t live without.”—-🥲

The final chapter to the Landry/Gibson/Mason series', and it was worth the wait! This book is a rollercoaster of laughs, emotion, and heat 🔥
Nate is officially my favorite out of all of them, and though Paige could be difficult with her personal struggles, she was certainly the one for him.
Ryder's an adorable and witty 7yr old, it's so heartwarming the way he interacts with everyone.
I'm sad it's over, but can't wait for the new Carmichael series about Paige's family! Her interactions with them already have me hooked 💕

Adriana Locke stories always give me those swoony butterflies, each and everyone brimming with romantic tenderness and charm. Sweet is…well, so sweet. Swoony feelings, tender emotions, and the joy of loving- all make this story shine. And, all those sweet nothings that made my heart pitter-pat.

There’s just so much about this story that works for me. Engaging characters with complicated histories but open hearts, the family ensemble dynamic that brings all the needed levity and catalyzing, a slow burn and super tender chemistry,
Not to mention it’s the nexus of so many delicious troupes- age gap, forced proximity, workplace/boss- YUMMY!

Like all the Adriana book boyfriends, Nate is just dreamy. A single dad with a gentle heart and fierce protective streak. Not to mention, man has some alphaness in him- when he decides to go after Paige he’s all kinds of swoony possessive. And Paige- oh sweet Paige. Her fear of abandonment, her insecurities. She’s strong yet vulnerable, with a protective self-destructive instinct. They both have their own troubled backgrounds, each causes conflicts within their own identities. Both have overcome a lot, but it gives the baggage that they bring to their coupling, and I loved watching them find security in each other. Nate gives Paige stability and safety- and their chemistry together is so delicious. I just really adored them together. They are so sweet together. And Ryder stole my heart.

I’ve loved spending time with the Landrys and love this crossover with the Carmichael crew - give me all those brothers! Adriana always brings such heart to her family ensembles, and I can’t wait for more time with this crew in their series!

Ok. So. I have read ALL the Mason and Landry family stories, and I absolutely LOVE that Nate gif a story. And the fact that his forever is with Paige makes it even better. Their story was full of lingering childhood trauma, self-sabotage, some seriously steamy scenes 🍒, and an ending that was so beautiful I teared up.

This author is fabulous at creating stories that capture my attention and my heart. Each book is interesting, entertaining, sexy, and in-put-downable. This one is absolutely no exception!
