My takeaway from this book is a deep appreciation of the Irish people and their history, which the author traces back with documentation over a thousand years, and in oral history over a thousand years before that. The ancestry of the Irish Royals traces back to Golamh (Mile Easpain), who led the progenitors of the Gaels in Ireland before 1000 B.C. (p.249). It may come as a shock to some that Ireland still has nineteen documented native "royal" families, probably because the island’s ruling dynasties were suppressed nearly five centuries ago by the imperialist Tudors.
