Wind Word #2

The Pearl Diver

Silas is born in the mountain village of Brigamme, where everyone who is born and exposed to the natural elements of the environment experiences a profound change at puberty – they gain the ability to track and hunt down any living person on earth. They are renowned as a special breed.
All except Silas, who proves not to have the talent. His parents send him to an academy of the elite professional Speakers. The Speakers have the power of the Wind Words, communications that can travel hundreds of miles to convey the important information that rulers, traders, and others are willing to pay to transmit.
But Silas runs afoul of an ill-tempered teacher at the Speakers Academy in Heathrin and is exiled. Silas is denied once again his opportunity to acquire a special talent that will set him apart.
He begins to wander the continent, and experiences adventures that change him, giving him abilities beyond ordinary people. He makes new friends on the island nation of Amenozume, and later learns one of them is in trouble. Silas vows to go back to the island to help his pearl-diving friend, Mata, escape from prison. And so his adventure continues.

Enjoyed thoroughly!

Ok. I’m just going to say I love Jefferey Quyle books. I haven’t read one of his novels I don’t like, yet. With this book, I love how the author brought the sprites from the “Inner Seas Kingdom” series into the story. Truly awesome how he brought the two worlds together and even mentioned Kestrel. If you haven’t read that series...please do. It’s awesome!
So, we have Silas traveling back to help the pearl diver. He rescues her and they travel to another place (thought to be dangerous) and finding it totally different than expected. I won’t give any details. You read and see what you think. He builds his telekinetic abilities and helps the people there and meets the sprites who take him to to healing spring. He learns a few revelations from the goddesses while there and returns to go on another adventure. Like I said, I’m not giving much detail. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. It can be a little slow in areas, but I still enjoyed the book. I’m anxious to read the next in the series.

i also liked this book. however it may have contributed to my sickness yesterday. i stayed up too late trying to finish the first book the series and think i might have left myself sleep deprived. i felt like i had the flu and had to leave work early on tuesday. then stayed in bed all day wednesday and slept. anyway, book 1 and 2 were great. waiting on 3 now. i had read another series from this author about a boy who wound up being a hero also who joined a caravan.. must be the way the author likes to train up his heros. :)
i think you will enjoy this book and the series.

Not as good as1

This second booklet was a disappointment. No coherence, and little action against the protagonist. The flip nature of the romantic heroine was debilitating to the story line.

Good book

I loved the story but for some reason it seemed a little stilted. Hoping the next book comes out soon.
