I have spent entire days reading, without eating, drinking water or sleeping. Even though its's novel, it has been written in the skeleton of a manga (and they've also started developing a comic now with only the very few first chapters). As a fan of asian pop culture and manga storylines (shoujo anime especially), this book was nothing less than captivating. It's so long (2165 chapters) and yet I didn't want it to end. For the time I was reading the book, I was living it because of how strong the female lead was. Even though it was thoroughly dramatic and over exaggerated, I believed every word and felt every emotion running through the pages. I don't ever remember laughing out so loud or smiling so wide.

When Ning Xi falls into a coma and Lu Tingxiao cares and waits for her, I spent hours crying as I read. Even all the minor characters were developed so beautifully and the storylines were skilfully integrated. Initially its hard to understand the extra scenes that don't involve the leads, but it all has purpose in the end. The whole text played out like a movie in my head with beautiful descriptions and intelligent plot events that made the entire book extremely engaging. The way the entertainment industry works, as well as the outlandish notion of gang wars and superhuman martial arts powers, combined with the more realistic plot lines of business and the fashion industry were just fantastic. Two very strong male and female leads, with plenty of comic relief, pain and love. The chemistry was so palpable and this book unexpectedly slides so high on my list. Up there to compete with Austen and Brontë romances. I'm a fangirl. Please discuss this book with me. I need people to gush over it with.

Let me share to you the novel that made my 2018. This will be me going on and on about a really beautiful novel that I think bookworms should know exist. So this will be a very long post.

It was also one of the reasons why I missed a lot of classes, forgot a few errands and plenty of sleep. Because well, it is exactly 2165 chapters long and I wanted to finish it. Devour it, even.

If you are discouraged because of the 2165 chapters – please don’t. Cause the chapters are pretty short and very entertaining.

When I started out this novel, it was only translated and uploaded to about 1000+ something and not completely translated yet, but it was too good to put down. Yes – it is translated from a Chinese novel, but the translators did a really good job. I even got to a point where I finished all the translated chapters and had to wait (in fact, all chapters were mass released by the translators just this January 1 2019 – and of course, you can guess what I did for New Year’s. LOL) and if you know me, I hate waiting and cliff hangers the most.

Of course, I didn’t exactly wait months for certain chapters – it was that gripping. I searched for the raw novels uploaded somewhere in cyber China and created an account (yes, I got to that point – don’t judge me) and even paid for access to read the raws where Google translate did its part. Although some translations of Google were confusing and I probably got several nosebleeds trying to piece everything together, but I did finish the raws too, months before the translators ever finished uploading the complete novel online.
PS. Folow this link to read the novel online. and look for Full Marks Hidden Marriage. It has a comic too but the comic is not completed yet.

So enough of that, and let me tell you more about why this novel is one you should pick up.

First, I know a lot of romantics these days (ever since Fifty Shades blew up anyway) are looking for heroes who are billionaire rich guys – and this novel has that! And he is very dreamy; he really beat Christian Grey (at least for me).

Lu Tingxiao. He comes from the Lu family is the current head of the family. Lu family is one of the wealthiest and most influential families around. He is also depicted as a very scary person and no one wants to go on his bad side. He is usually emotionless and expressionless, like an ice sculpture. He exudes tremendous pressure that has everyone shaking, except for his family, of course. He also avoids girls – he just doesn’t like them, until of course he meets our heroine. Everything changed.

1341
“Lu Tingxiao was Jing City’s famous God of Fortune. His existence was like a king sans a crown!”

“Lu Tingxiao was the kind of beauty even the most gorgeous of woman might have never seen before.”

Second, we have a heroine (Ning Xi) who has a spine of steel. Very charming and so cool you’d want to be her. Swear.

Ning Xi is an aspiring actress who is truly unlucky given the circumstances of her life. Until she meets Lu Tingxaio, everything seems to fall into place.
Ning Xi: seeing the two people behind her, one big and one small, Ning Xi’s heart felt full. After being alone for so long, it was the first time she experienced such warm feelings.

Also, there are a lot of colourful characters in this novel who should have their own book too if the author ever got around to it. Too much potential for a lot of characters to have their own love lines here. Really. Seriously. (You just have to meet them when you start this story)

One of the characters that made the book special is Lu Jingli. Lu Tingxiao’s brother. You got to love him. He’s a meddler and a gossip. He’s also one of the reasons why the book ended up being funny as hell. Plus he is usually the one who points out  times when Lu Tingxiao is jealous or have never done before. And he is the only one who gets away with teasing his brother.
Lu Jingli: Amazing. Who knew his brother could use such a high-end technique, timing a disadvantage into an advantage. That would take out all obstacles on the path to winning Ning Xi over.

Lu Jingli: You two haven’t even started dating, what gives you the right to look like you want to massacre all her exes?

Another one is baby Little Treasure, who is also called Little Bun. Lu Tingxiao’s son. He becomes an adorable addition in this book. At first, he comes across as spoiled since he has all the Lu’s falling over themselves to please him. His history will be explained in the book – and your suspicions might be right, you just have to pick up that book to find out. His parts in the book also makes a lot of precious moments and makes “family time” for our protagonists which will make your heart melt.

346356.PNG
Little Treasure: (gives Ning Xi a phone number)

Ning Xi: Ah, is this your phone number? I’ll definitely call.

Lu Tingxiao: (Little Treasure didn’t have a phone. What number did he give her? My number! He really is my son!)

The book is told in different perspectives. So you get an insight to almost what everyone is thinking. Even the antagonists’ which will make you hate them more.

What I absolutely love about this novel is that it’s really made for fangirls like me. There are certain scenes where you’ll just be super giddy (kilig – if you’re Filipino) over this couple. I will be quoting or summarizing a few scenes here too and if those don’t pique your interest, I don’t know what will. So there will be a few spoilers here (of course not a lot – just enough to make you want to pick up that book – or click that novel anyway)

One of their first interactions (summary below)
“Ning Xi saves Little Bun.

Lu Tingxiao: state your request.

Ning xi: I don’t want anything…

Lu Tingxiao: (looks on looking scary)

Ning Xi: How about you give me money?

Lu tingxiao: (feels insulted. Continues looking scary)

Lu tingxiao: Marry Me.

Ning Xi: Cough cough cough…. What did you say?

…. A few minutes later….

Ning Xi: Don’t you like men?

Lu Tingxiao: (gets up) Let me prove my true sexual orientation Miss Ning

Ning Xi: (My life is over!)

….

Lu tingxiao: So because other people are afraid of me, you are afraid of me? Then all other women want to marry me, but why don’t you?

Ning Xi: Do you know what kind of person I am? Do you know my past?

Lu Tingxiao: The one I wan to marry is the present you. Your past has nothing to do with me.

^ This is one of the reasons why I got addicted to this book. It was just so funny I couldn’t put it down. At first, I thought maybe I’d read a few chapters in and stop (just to see what it’s all about). But I got hooked. Line. Sinker. Believe me, I got my 40+ aunt to read it and she called me up at 11PM to ask me where the continuation was. She got hooked too. I told her it wasn’t completed yet (at that time, months ago) and I laughed at her for it. LOL I also gave this to my cousin to read, and the same thing happened. So I want to share this to you to lure more fishes. HAHA! But you can rest assured, it’s finished, completed now.

Ning Xi is a fighter. She doesn’t want anyone to help her and does not like to owe people, which makes Lu Tingxiao help her behind the scenes. Yes stealthily and behind the scenes, he just doesn’t want any attention when he saves her and Ning Xi just finds out about it later on and realizes the lengths Lu Tingxiao goes for her. (Which would make you adore Lu Tingxao more.) I loved how these two are so down to earth even when they have a lot to brag about. And there is a lot of bragging by the opponents here and a lot of “face-slapping” which are the best part.

3242

Lu tingxiao certainly has his moments. Especially the parts where he spoils his girl.

LTX gives NX keys to his home.

NX: wait wait… Mr. Lu, you’re being a bit too carefree! Aren’t you scared I’ll rob you?

LTX: What do you want? I’ll find someone to help you move it. (looking completely serious, he didn’t look like he was joking at all)

NX: (coughs) I’m just joking… It was a joke…

LTX gives her car keys.

For Lu Tingxiao’s part, it was insta-love.
The moment he picked her up in his arms in the bar storeroom, he had felt complete, as if she had been the one thing that had been missing before in his world.

He wanted her, all of her, for his own and did not want to wait one second more. He couldn’t afford to lose her, so waiting was his only option.

There will also be sensitive topics in the book. But later on you will realize that what happened was different and unexpected. Definitely a lot of twists and turns in this book.

Seriously, pick up the book. (link below) Read at least until chapter 50 – 60 to get the feel of our protagonists and make a decision to continue or not. I think their charms would show through by those chapters.

The real romance between hero and heroine starts a few hundred chapters more, the previous chapters will just get you warmed up but you will certainly get the feels. You shouldn’t miss anything. This starts slow but really worth it.
LTX: No one was allowed to bully his girl. Not even her own father.

A very funny, entertaining, dramatic, heartbreaking and action-packed novel. If you like Korean/Chinese dramas, you’d really love this book. How I wish they will make this novel a drama – but I’m scared they might ruin it. LOL

5 Heart-melting Stars

This was utterly tremendously long 2000+ chapters, but damn. I want my own Lu Ting Xiao. I am crazy over him.

I had to skip some parts when I was reading this because there are just too many extra scenes. Each chapters are short, but then still with that super many chapters, only Lu Ting Xiao was making me hold on to it. I am serious, Lu Ting Xiao is on top my man list existent and non-existent list. OTL

Aside from being a loooooooong series, this is funny. There are parts where you could laugh your ass our esp when Lu Jung Li is involved.

Though some parts are quite extra ridiculous that it somehow does not fit the plot (like some character having supernatural powers that no one could even beat her, and a 5 year old who can do programming), it's for you to decide to finish it or not.

As for me, Lu Ting Xiao is the best.

3.5 stars. This was really long, but highly addicting. I just feel like I finished a soap opera. Although it was somewhat predictable and had a lot of tropes, it was a fun read. There was a lot of sabatoging and scheming involved, but it was great seeing how the female lead would overcome her enemies. At some points it does get repetitive, but seeing her outwit her enemies is worth it. I absolutely LOVED the main character. She was humble, yet could kick butt. The supporting characters were great as well. The story does start to drag at one point toward the end, but then picks up for final chapters. Overall, it was funny and enjoyable.

It all started with the manhua adaptation....the rest is history.
No kidding, I only read the first three chapters of the manhua and was instantly hooked. I felt so frustrated when I could not find chapter 4 but while researching I found it was originally a webnovel. Needless to say I enjoyed every bit of it. It is one of those guilty reads, because you know from page one how it is going to end. It had all the Chinese tropes you can imagine but I still could not help myself. Thoughts and highlights:
-The story was good but predictable, and the ending was satisfactory but rushed!
-Lu Ting Xiao, that man knew at first sight what he wanted and did not rush nor pressured her. Man of my dreams!
-Antagonists were on point. I hated Ning Xuelo so much, and Su Yan too. They deserved their endings.
-Little Treasure, the perfect child. He only wanted affection, I loved him. (**sigh**)
-The protagonists were a little too perfect but whatever, just another exploited trope.
-The husband and villain reveal (2080-2095)
-Ning Xi shooting demo against Guan Ziyao (751-754)
-Little Treasure's fist day of school (385-386)
-Mo lingtian and Ning TianXi abortion arch, it was so heartbreaking but it gave me feels
-Pretty memorable, revealing the relationship to Hu Hongda (698)
-Kindergarten contest (705-712)

Cried a few times with this. But..

- I can't take that open ending with Mo Lingtian and Ning Tianxin. It hurts! What was Tianxin's reaction when Lingtian guessed her favorite painting correctly? Why wasn't it mentioned?

- I feel like there should be a plot with Jiang Muye and Ling Zhizhi's relationship that the author just abandoned. That daughter of hers must be his! That must be the reason why she suddenly resigned as his manager.

- And where's my Second Young Master, Lu Jingli's partner?

Ugh. I can't! I want to know more!

When I say this was an experience. I almost died reading this behemoth at 2165 chapters! I haven't done anything except read this for the past 4 days. I've barely slept. I was so absorbed by the plot and characters that I couldn't put this down even when I was eating. This was so ridiculously entertaining it reminded me of when I first discovered kdramas with Coffee Prince almost a decade ago and it felt like injecting pure adrenalin straight to your veins! I haven't felt that rush in a while. It got me silently screaming into my pillow at 5 am, bloodshot eyes stuggling to stay awake because I just needed to know what comes next! Seriously, an experience.

Still a favourite! While Mr. Darcy holds a special place in my heart for English romance, Lu Tingxiao reigns supreme in the realm of contemporary Chinese webnovels.

Update 2019
I can't believe I actually read this 2000+ chapters over and over again in the past year and a half! Whenever I get extremely bored, I go back to read my favourite chapters. It's like rewatching my favourite TV show. I really can't find a more entertaining contemporary romance webnovel so I'm giving it a full score.

First read 2018
This webnovel absolutely devoured my life for two weeks! I couldn't put it down, it was that captivating. I'm talking "eat, sleep, read, repeat" levels of obsession!
The plot is a whirlwind of twists and turns, but it all comes together beautifully. I was genuinely impressed by how coherent it remained, even with all the drama and unexpected turns. It felt like a wild, fantastical journey, and I loved every minute of it! The characters are fantastic! Both the FL and ML are strong, complex individuals with their own unique flaws. There's so much depth to their relationship, and it's a joy to watch them grow and evolve.
The story itself is a delicious blend of genres. It's got drama, romance, action, comedy, and even a sprinkle of fantasy. It's like a delicious buffet for the soul! Don't be intimidated by the length. The chapters are short and sweet, making it easy to binge-read. I can't recommend this webnovel enough! It's truly a gem.

Not worth the 2165 something chapters. Too many unwanted characters, unwanted plots and half the story is skip-worthy after a point. Doesn't focus on the main characters and tropes. The female lead is a young heiress who was switched at birth, grew up in a village, fell in love with a sickly heir who later betrayed her for the switch-a-roo sibling who is point black evil. The characters have no depth at all. A book meant for teenage girls who fantasize of some prince charming saving them during some misfortune (the so-called 'rape'), running away and coming back as bad girls with complicated dating history which *drumroll* is made up because female lead is virginal and only has sexual encounters with male lead wherein in the two encounters or at most three in the 2165+ chapters she fawns over his 'abnormally huge digits'. Not the typical, mushy, dog-food serving josei romance but a waste of time if you want to read about one track black-white characters with zero redemption arcs, wannabe gangster-evil-ever-winning-undefeated-female-lead, a for-once-acceptable-male-lead, five-year-old who is abnormally smart and controls and builds robots, other characters who are simply meant to hype the female lead and have no other job. Oh, and cross-dressing female lead for which none of the novel will make sense until you realize you've read too much to drop the novel and will have to torture yourself till the end.

I've never read a book with 2,000+ chapters before so it was a nice experience.

If you count-out the fact that suspense was killing you and you want to know how it ends but there's still 2,000 chapters in-between you both. :')

I really, really enjoyed this a lot! I was on the edge of the seat since the first chapter and I just wanted to finish it, so I, maybe read it continuously for two whole days..? *Grins

Okay, there was the usual soap drama, but the female lead was the boss! *Cough* *Cough* The Lady Boss, can't forget our Boss here.

Little Treasure must've been my favourite character in this book. It's a 4 star for me because I felt that sister-mother duo disliking the female lead and the sister plotting against her to be a common scene, which I've read about in some mangas and web novels.

I am just a beginner into the webnovel world and will probably read more in the future. For now, I'm tired with my 2-day binge read of this deliciously written book, so might need to rest and catch on to some sleep that I missed while I was reading this. ✨

Funny and entertaining book :)
Though I really feel that a lot of this Chinese web novels are like junk food...they gave a quick moment of pleasure (the face-slapping xD) but are not at all nutritious (no deep or quality) xD
But I was not looking for that when I picked this book. I was just looking for something light and fun and optimistic so I guess that I found it ;)

Really enjoyed this story. It had just the right amount of drama, action and humour. Great characters...

I've read a few web novels but the one's I've really enjoyed I can count on one hand, this story included.

I've read other works of this author and they're pretty good too but this one, for me was great with just the right amount of everything needed to make a great story.

I enjoyed reading this so much I stayed up until four am every night until I finished it, but this is not well written, the characters are not three-dimensional "real" people, and the plot is chock full of conveniences, plot armor, and coincidences. Ning Xi is an almost egregious Mary Sue. She's super awesome at everything. If she isn't the best in something, she knows someone able to help who is. Everyone is in love with her, except those who are jealous of everyone who is in love with her. In regards to the writing, or translation in my case, it's not great. It's also repetitive. I think someone pukes or almost pukes blood in each of the approximately 1200 chapters. There is also the most bizarre scene I've ever encountered in just about any form. Ning Xi goes to a nightclub and the scene ends with a bunch of people forcing themselves to puke up the alcohol they've been drinking because they've offended her. Super weird. Also, the version I read specifically says the United States is a second world country. I legitimately stopped reading and said, "What?" Out loud. At three in the morning next to a recently sleeping teething toddler. Also, someone declared brain dead and in a coma wakes up after a year, removes all the medical apparatus that had been keeping them alive, and walks around town for a few minutes. But the author does note that their voice is really hoarse and their body is stiff as if that's more believable. I don't get the point of that entire subplot.

But the real issue I have with this novel is that it's problematic. I read a few reviews and didn't see anyone pick on these issues so I feel obligated to bring them up myself: the author of this book clearly has prejudice against black/dark skinned people and this novel has a serious rape problem.

Most of the novel takes place in China, but Ning Xi does travel to the US at least two or three times. There are white characters that are positive representations of white people, but that is not the case with black or dark skin characters. The author, who is often sparse with details, felt readers needed to know that two of the mean girls who insulted Ning Xi were dark-skinned. They are never brought up again and their race/coloring is completely irrelevant to the story so it was ultimately entirely unnecessary to mention. It rubbed me the wrong way, but I chalked it up to her trying to include some diversity since Ning Xi was working with Americans. But later on, the author goes out of her way to tell readers a random homeless man is black. Again, completely irrelevant and only included to negatively portray black people.

The way rape is portrayed in this novel is actually quite stomach churning. For one, our male lead is rapey. He, on more than one occasion, kisses Ning Xi while she is sleeping because he has reason to believe she wouldn't consent if she was awake. This isn't a quick peck on the lips or a momentary soft kiss. He jams his tongue into her mouth so aggressively that she wakes up with a sore tongue the next day. The author, on more than one occasion, makes it seem like Tiangxaio deserves a gold star for not assaulting her further than that. When Ning Xi is drugged, kidnapped, blindfolded, and tied to a bed in sheer lingerie, when Tiangxaio sees her, he immediately recognizes her and clearly knows that she isn't there by choice, but he still nearly takes advantage of her. Later, Ning Xi refers to the incident to "prove" to herself that he must not like her because obviously a normal man would have raped her. When she realizes that he didn't rape her because he likes her, she poses it as proof that he is the best in the world.

There are other female characters who are sexually assaulted. Most of these incidents are framed as if they deserved it and their assailants go unpunished. The only men I recall being punished for sexual assault were responsible for harming Ning Xi or her one friend. The serial casting couch guy who raped the woman who intended to set Ning Xi up to be raped by him: apparently unscathed despite being caught in the act of raping a crying, screaming woman. The man who raped and impregnated her nice cousin? Well, he was drunk and really sad when he raped her and after she nearly died from a botched underground abortion that probably left her unable to have kids, he stalked her from a distance so that's nice.

And then there's Ning Xi's trauma from her rape. Ning Xi hated men so much she put herself in dangerous situations in her quest to punish them. But when she finds out the man who brutally raped her was Tingxaio, all of her trauma disappears. Granted he was drugged so he wasn't in control of himself, but that doesn't suddenly and miraculously make the trauma of a month of sickness from aggressive sexual assault immediately disappear. He also let her find out by letting her arch nemesis crash an event and out her rape and pregnancy in front of everyone they care about. The author doesn't walk the reader through Ning Xi unpacking the fact that Tingxiao was the man she's been looking to kill for five years and Little Treasure is her dead rape baby. There's a little, "I can't believe it" followed by "I'm happy it was you." That's right. She says she's happy he was the one who raped her. Unbelievably awful for so many reasons.

Female lead is an amazing actress that can slay females and males depending on her character with a doting CEO husband and cutiepatootie son XD

I like the many side characters (blondie and bro humor mang) and that the face-slapping is consistent. Quick and easy to read. Since this is translated from Chinese, it's actually not bad for a webnovel even though there are a few editing errors at times.

There's drama, fantasy, comedy etc... it made me chuckle a lot but also made shed a few tears. It also gave an inside view on the Chinese aristocrats and their entertainment industry way of life. I would definitely recommend it... will try to read other books of the same author and hopefully it's in English 😊

aaaaaaaaaaaaaah this is my first novel
c'mon I haven't ever read a novel more than 5 chapters and suddenly I read it and the whole book I am also surprised by myself started reading during my hindi board exams day and then I cant just stop reading highly recommended to everyone (for a better view you can also start by reading the comic version for first few ch if you are a total newcommer like me bak then)
oh the plot I love it you want action (its book second love I suppose) , romance (what else if not it), love triangle (hmmm, can consider), acting (c'mon its whole acting drama with full use of webo fights, slanders, praises, criticisms) , lu jingli (my personal favourite character-funny, not at all innocent and sometimes pitifull{he and his vegetables u can also add his romance life}) , little bun (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah so cute, cold, intelligent, and can choose wisely since he choses his mom's side over dad hehe), comedy (dont know how to stop sometimes), sad (a bit at end) , comastage (luv the time of comeback after it) , plastic surgery (yeah a cannon fodder got it), revenge, child abuse, underworld, guns.....
okay what else left out
a pure lovestory about a cold appearing CEO (yeah he is much more considerate than any other ML I have ever read so far, , 'cough ' this novel made me a novel lover so dont doubt my experience okay you will understand later though) and a girl (oh how can I define ning xi u really need to read the whole book okay, she is just cool, knows how to mock people, sometimes lazy sometimes kind with an past with guns)
someone totally in luv with this

I really liked this book a lot
i don't know why every chinese novel will all start with a sex scenes, but this was a bit different. This started with the encounter of the female lead and her son's encounter. The main female character is very strongly portrayed and i really liked the female lead. The way the story progressed is very nice and the details while reading is also explained very well .for example the chats of the fans if anything controversy or clashes happen between the female lead and anyone and how their fan supports or slander the other one everything is nicely put together. Each and every character in this novel is very nicely portrayed and there never seemed where we feel bored. I can tell there is everything that is required for entertainment in this like comedy, romance, love rival, thriller, problem solving , mystery etc.... and i even learned a lot from this novel. I loved each and every characters in this novel especially Lu Jingli, Jiang Muye,Han Xiao, tang lang . There was even a strong female villain xeuleo.I really liked the way how Lu Tingxiao gets jealous. I like how Lu jingli supports his brother and how he is very much interested in gossips. i liked How Jiang Muye is very close to Ning Xi and how he treats her and gets always defeated by Ning Xi. I even Liked the family of Zuangs and they gets connected etc..etc,.. etc.. there is more to tell but its not enough ....if i keep on telling i may write a book of my own. :) This book is interesting and worth reading.
