The lightest book by Jessica Gadziala I ever read.
Different from her usual works.

She is a very talented author, respect!

Likable MCs, funny banters, safe, and the hero wasn't an a§§hole at all, IMO if course.

TV shows is not my favourite trope and therefore the twist/drama (their lie to be married) was predictable, but I still enjoyed this book.

***FIVE STARS***
Asshole heroes are one of my favorite themes. Warren isn't quite an asshole, but he fits the bill as an awesome jerk hero. I loved everything about him. He was grumpy, he was hot and cold, and of course, he was sexy as sin! Brinley was a total sweetheart, but she had a spine to go with her sweet demeanor. I loved her as well.

These two didn't exactly hate each other, but they seriously rubbed each other the wrong way in the beginning, and then again when they were forced to move in together with each other, as well as work together. It was fun experiencing Brinley and Warren overcome their irritation, and finally develop real feelings for each other.

I loved everything about this sweet little romance. The Grumpy Hero, the love/hate bickering, the smexiness, This story tied up nicely in the end, with a perfect HEA. I couldn't ask for more!

...Oh yes, she did! Jessica Gadziala has gone over to the sweet, silly and fun side of romance! And I LOVE it!

FIX IT UP is another Jessica Gadziala creation that just begs to be read! Brinley is determined to make a name for herself through hard work, fabulous interior designs and by tapping into every social network she can. Contractor Warren Reyes is an artist in his own right. He has his own method of getting the job done and sure enough, as Brinley and Warren clash in the middle of a home improvement store, someone is there to witness their less-than-stellar moment with a little glee in their eyes. That someone was affiliated with the hit show, Fix It Up.

When opportunity knocks, you answer the door, right? Brinley is about to get her big break on television in a new show featuring a married couple designing and fixing up area homes. Oh wait, she isn’t married and the guy they think is her husband is Warren.

Can these two fool millions into believing they are married and in love? When it comes to love, who’s fooling who and who is in denial?

Lots of laughs, some fur flying and two complete opposites might just discover that the best home improvement comes from Cupid’s pallet! A fun read with heat and heart!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Jessica Gadziala!

For those of you who are familiar with Gadziala’s popular Navesink Bank universe, you’ll note that this story does NOT take place within it. No bikers, no loan sharks, no hired muscle or hitmen, etc. What IS immediately recognizable is JG’s writing style. Casual. Never forced. It’s like, if you close your eyes, you can imagine her sitting across from you over a cup of coffee telling you a story that starts with, “You’ll never believe what happened…” before launching into a tale full of heart, humor, and plenty of sex. It’s one of the things I love most about her books. They’re well rounded.

Brinley, an interior decorator, and Warren, a contractor, are working together (barely) on a home project when they are approached by a producer of the HITV show “Fix It Up.” Brin and Warren spend most of their time bickering, which is probably why the producer assumes they’re married. 😉 Brinley is quick to lose her temper with Warren, but, then again, Warren excels at pushing her buttons. In other words: chemistry.

This is not an instalove story. Hell, it’s not even an instalust story. Sure, they find each other physically attractive, but it takes them both some time to warm up to each other, what with all the button-pushing and all. Getting to know each other, through all the walls they both have up, is difficult. Of course, they’ll eventually get there, and honestly, the journey is half (three quarters?) the fun!

I totally related to Brinley’s isolation/loneliness she felt at having moved away from all her friends and family, whose lives went on without her, and not getting along with the one person she was spending the majority of her time with. I also related to Warren, who enjoyed his job but also wasn’t really living his dream of being back on the family farm and worrying about whether or not he was going to lose his chance at owning it.

What I loved: Enemies-to-lovers, fake marriage, slow burn. Brinley (JG always excels at writing heroines. Brinley has insecurities that oftentimes fuel her actions, but she’s never whiny, self-absorbed, or woe-is-me about it.)

What I didn’t: Um. I can’t think of anything. I’m a HUGE fan of the Navesink Bank universe, and even though this story is vastly different from what I typically associate with JG, like I mentioned above, the familiar writing style is there, and I think the author’s voice is a huge factor in how much I enjoy a story.

In a word, this book is… wait for it… fantastic.

Oh this was just so entertaining...

The bickering...

The 'opposites attract' thingy in the air...

The realization of the growing feelings over that sensual attraction...

And acting upon it...

Made me all smiley and flippery and what not...lol

Yeah, funny, sweet, light and just the way Jessica Gadziala knows to turn up a twisty punch or two, only so she could bring you the perfect HEA

So, Fix it up is more than just fixing haha, it's more like making of and working it out and it's more than just the house reference, it's about the making of a home

And I dont remember when I have written such a bluntly vague review...lol
But it's simply the way it is...

it's a classic romantic comedy but the little sweet deals inside should be discovered on its own...

So, do it, discover them all and I hope you enjoy while doing so👍😊

One of my favorite things about Jessica is that she can write so many stories & them be completely different from each other but still be just as good. If you're a fan of Jessicas and read her books then you know how dark the Navesink world can get but this book is like a ray of sunshine. Now this story has nothing to do with our NB world that we are so familiar with but instead brings us into a new world....the home improvement world!!! Warren & Brinley were so good together. I just love the way Brinley was so firey & Warren well he was just planning sexy, what can I say. 😉
I definitely think you should one click this baby & enjoy you some Warren & Brinley!

Warren is a contractor working on a house with Bromley and they butt heads at every turn. Everytime they are near each other explosions in personalities happen. What happens when they take an opportunity they can't pass up that has them living together for a year? Can they fake it and make it or will they tear each other apart first?
This book was amazing! It flowed perfectly and was so sweet. It was a different kind of book by Jessica but that doesn't take away the fact that it was perfect. She is an amazing author.

Jessica has done it again with this gorgeous and funny romance..... yes nothing goes boom and no one gets killed but there is great pace to the book and plenty happening to keep you engaged. But what really touched my heart was the little insight of herself that JG gave us in Brinley - the determination and relentless work ethic and passion to make it in a demanding and competitive environment - darling girl I think it’s safe to say that you are well and truly on that road of being one of the greats!!!!

Cute, funny, and sexy contemporary romance. Jessica Gadziala gives us her take on reality TV with a interior designer and a builder who are always butting heads over their views of what's best for the client. When their bickering gets them noticed by a producer of a reality show called Fix It Up about married couples who work as a team to fix up houses and offer them their own show its Brinley Spears dream come true. Two problems though - one, she and Warren Allen Reyes are not married, and two, they can't stand working with each other.

Brin manages to convince Warren to do the show agreeing to the white lie that they are married. But having to both live and work closely ramps up the bickering but it also exposes what the underlying causes of all that tension is - sexual attraction. The sexy times are smoking in this one..

Love at first read!!!

So this isn't like what we are used to when reading a JG book but it is just as amazing! The tension and chemistry you can feel between the H and h is explosive!
Warren is a dream boat all manly and works with his hands. It's fun to watch him interact with someone who is just as good as him at his job. Brinley Spears.... what a name! She's driven, ambitious and an all around good person.
I love how the name play made for good laughs.......
"You have no idea how that has haunted me,"
"What?" I asked
"The Britney Spears/Brinley Spears thing. The kids at school were relentless. In my parents' defense, she was not a thing until I was like...
eight or something like that."

The heat between the 2 is so hot it may burn a bit but it's worth. READ THIS BOOK! I promise you will enjoy.

Stunningly... fantastic!

Wow, I mean this read was the sweet romantic love story we all crave. Even if we are a bit cynical in our lives there is still that part of us that is hopelessly romantic and this book will play exactly to that voice that just begs for a happy ending. No car explosions, fast rides or dramatic flare needed for this beautifully written good ol’ fashioned love story.

The characters as always were so well written and developed through out that you never once became bored or tired, and like all good rom-coma you are both eager to get to and resenting the end. Eager because you knew it was the sweetest ending and resentful because you didn’t want the sweetness to stop!

What a FANTASTIC book about two people navigating love, finding it and fighting for it. No spice needed, the mains and their dynamically written personalities drew you in, hooked you for the journey and delivered in giving a great love story in its timelessness.

I really need some sweet wholesome Jessica and what better time then mother's day! This book was your classics frenemies to lovers romance. Brinley was cute sassy and very much up on her hussle to make a name out of herself. Warren was a hard working man with farming roots who loves to work with wood as his grandfather had taught him. His attitude was very bull headed and take charge. Put these to together and let the sparks fly. Reading this made me really want to watch their show after it filmed .It would have been a hit on HGTV. I loved the whole fix it up concept. Brinley and Warren really were opposites that attract. I loved them!!!! My new favorite couple! If you are looking for a sweet slow burn you really should add this one to you TBR.☺🙌

Brinley and Warren heat up the pages in Fix It Up!

"Don't act surprised, Brin. Think I loved you since you debated beating me to death with the cabinet door dividers in Home Depot that night that everything changed."

What would you do for the opportunity of a lifetime? Could you pretend to be married to someone you almost couldn't work with?

Ms. Gadziala brings comedy and passion with her brand new stand alone. This is one of my favorite books so far this year. Brinley's character is so alive I could feel my heart pounding as she walked alone on the beach. Warren and Brinley heat things up, either by arguing or having some steamy, sexy times together.

While this isn't a story like JG has given us in the past, her love for the characters and their story are classically Jessica. Funny, sometimes a little teary eyed, and so much love I couldn't put it down!

Cute and sweet

So if you are a fan of Jessica's books you know lately something is usually blowing up, someone is getting shot or she is killing everyone off. This isn't that type of story. It is explosive as in our main characters are explosive when they are together. Both are stubborn and opinionated. They butt heads over how things should be done. The story is cute and sweet. You can't help root for them. A must read

Just what I needed and Jessica Gadziala delivered. Loved the Fix It Up story line something new and fresh. Sweet, sexy, and funny “hate” to love story. Brin’s stubbornness and Warren’s obnoxious made this a steamy read. Brin and Warren are hot together.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great book! Brin and Warren had mad chemistry. I wondered how the book would compare to the crazy world of Navesink Bank and was pleasantly surprised that it rates right up there with them all. I didn’t want to put it down.

I want to start by saying that this isn't my normal read. I typically like darker books. I wasn't sure if I would love it or not.
That being said, Jessica blew me away...again.
Brinley is a hard working, dedicated interior designer who is struggling to reach her dream of being a respected and successful designer that doesn't have to count her pennies to survive.
Warren is contractor that gets jobs by word of mouth, enjoys traditional designs and is use to getting his way on a build. He likes what he does, but his dream is to save his grandfather's farm that is close to being sold, and make it a working farm once again.
The two meet on a job, and within minutes of meeting, Brin can't stand him. Warren thinks she's attractive, but her stubbornness and Italian temper drives him crazy.
They bicker so much like an old married couple that a producer for a TV show thinks they're married and offers them a once in a lifetime opportunity.
There own show, fixing up houses as a happily married couple.
Seeing a way to reach both there goals they decided to lie about being married and sign up for the show.

After a rough start with filming, and crew members gossiping about whether or not they even like eachother, they decided to try harder to sell there fake marriage.
Over time the discover that they both are attracted to one another and try to go with the flow of there new "relationship " as two people that actually like eachother.
Of course nothing in life is easy, and shortly after there new found happiness with eachother, all hell breaks loose.
I don't want to give away anymore, but if you want a lighter read with great main characters, awesome secondary characters (Brent ❤) and some serious sexual tention, this is your book.

Fix It Up is adorable! We meet feisty designer Brinley and stubborn building contractor Warren as they work to renovate their clients' home. The husband client chose Warren, who was getting known by word of mouth for his workmanship and ability to meet deadlines and budgets. The wife client found Brinley through her inspired Instagram feeds, showcasing her gorgeous design ideas, and simply had to have her design the house. Unfortunately, Brinley's designs tended to clash with Warren's penchant for shiplap, dark wood and the color brown.

Clashing over way too many design choices results in near constant bickering, including a particularly rollicking squabble in the aisle of a DIY store that draws the attention of a passerby who declares the couple "fantastic" and asks for their business card. Little did they suspect that that encounter would change their lives. The passerby happens to be the producer of TV's most successful home improvement program. Chosen as the next "It" couple of the home improvement world, Brinley and Warren have to make a decision: pretend to be married for the TV series or confess and lose this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain invaluable exposure (that Brinley craves for her fledgling business) and the boatload of money (that Warren desperately needs to buy his beloved grandpa's farm out of foreclosure).

No brainer, right? Yeah, except for the tiny issue that they argue over everything and kinda can't stand each other. In spite of the annoying fact that they think the other one is HOT. And actually pretty damn good at what they do. And a kind, thoughtful person. Wait, what?

So thrilled to be chosen to receive an ARC - I will always drop whatever else I'm reading to devour another delicious story from Jessica Gadziala.

I think the only thing I could love more than Chip and Joanna Gaines or Trading Spaces is this book!

description

Jessica never fails to amaze me, be it things that go boom or stories sweeter than acai almond coffee. Brinley was relatable, real, and as another coffee addict, someone I would absolutely hire to make my house a home.

description

Warren makes a perfect compliment to Brin's fiery temper by goading her for the fun of it and following up with good old fashioned ideals. Nothing soothes the burn of an a**hole one-liner more than a man who's chivalrous enough to put even Sam Elliot (why Sam? I don't even know but he feels gentlemanly) to shame.

If you haven't had the pleasure of reading works by Jessica, you won't go wrong by diving into this project.

slightly flawed but enjoyable enough - 3*

Brinley is a struggling interior designer and Warren is a contractor. They are working on the same job and rubbing each other the wrong way when they get mistaken for a married couple and are offered a job on TV. They decide to pretend to be married in order to grab this once in a lifetime opportunity. Despite their natural combativeness they do try and act like adults which I liked. I liked that they were both strong and competent.

The thing I like about Marriage of convenience or fake marriage stories is the small minutia of living together bringing a couple together. The couple in this book had that. Yes they had sizzling chemistry but it was the closeness brought about by living and working together that caused them to fall in love. Sadly the only reason I know this is because one of the characters says so. A classic case of telling not showing. I hate situations that are embarrassing so I was quite worried about what would happen when they were found out. Luckily for me this was completely glossed over as well. What we did get to see a lot of was the explosive attraction. That part of the story was done quite well. The sex was surprisingly believable while still being pretty steamy. I bought into this couple.

By a new-to-me New Jersey author, this book was a great palate cleanse after reading a few heavy hitting suspense novels back to back. Brinley Spears (a groan worthy name that is explained) and Warren Reyes hate renovating houses together, their visions and working styles always causing them to be at odds. But when an opportunity comes along that could give them both some financial freedom, it seems almost too good to refuse- even for them. All they have to do is pretend to love each other. How hard could it be?

This book is a good mix of sweet, sexy and dare I say it, predictability. If you love tropes like love/hate, sham romances, or HGTV, you should give this one a try. To be fair, however, some editing was needed as that EXACT phrase was used not once, not twice, but NINE times!

Love!

I absolutely loved Warren and Brin! This was a much different book than what Jessica normally writes, but it was oh so good. I could tell that it was still Jessica’s words because the heroine is strong, has a bit of snark and doesn’t need saving. Warren is a bit of the silent but strong type of character. He is a bit closed off, but after they agree to pretend to be married for a tv show, they both start realizing there are real feelings.

I laughed at times during this book and swooned at times. Bottom line, read this book

Fantastic

This was an absolutely fantastic fun read and very different from the darker stories we usually see from this author. This is lighthearted, fun, flirty, and sassy. Brinley and Warren's bickering is hilarious and their slow build romance will leave you smiling. I definitely recommend this one.
