Stories from a Doctor's Desk is a collection of short stories inspired by true events. Each story talks about human values and takes you on an emotional journey. The book throws light on the emotional aspect of the doctor-patient relationship and details all the factors that play an important role in the treatment of a patient apart from medicines.
To make the book more interesting, each story in the book starts with beautiful illustrations created by the author’s wife.
We often wonder what goes on in the Doctor's mind given their seemingly robotic countenance and emotionless expressions. This book gives us the insight into that mind, and the associated thoughts with it. It opens to us, the regular folks, to the world of healing narrated in a short, simple stories which we can relate to.
The author has done a great job of intertwining his experiences as a medical practitioner with the aspects of faith, trust and prayers that all can understand easily. Simply loved it!
Enjoyed every story. Each story is narrated so beautifully. Some stories made me laugh. Some stories made me cry. Every story taught me profound lessons like,
1) Faith creates miracles 2) When we fret about small things in life, there are people who have bigger problems in life. 3) The other side of a doctor's life. And much more
And of course, I learnt that doctors are God. And this Doctor is one.
The book consists of short stories from the life of a Doctor. Pro: A very basic and easy go book. Short and crisp. Comes with artwork and opportunity for kids to colour up the sketch by the Author’s wife. Good and inspirational for school kids willing to become a doctor. A must book for children’s library.
Cons: Too basic and too obvious for professionals. No extraordinary efforts of life of a doctor documented. The faith and trust system of a patient in his doctor is the same as the trust of people in their non-health service provider. Thus, a doctor dint play hero as portrayed in the book.
I read this now with almost 6 years of experience in healthcare. Thus found it worthless. However, as mentioned above. A must book for kids.

The author had conveyed his stories in just two pages each. The language is very simple. The author had been frank about his thoughts and shortcomings. He did not exaggerate any incident. Good book for a leisurely read and beginners.
