Kilts and Scotsmen What's Not to Like!

A tale about a separated couple that comes back together! I love marriage in peril books, only if there is no cheating, and there wasnt, but this one made me angry. It was six long years they wasted apart and then she has the nerve to come back to ask for a divorce so she can marry another guy! I didn't think I was going to like it and I actually stopped reading this at one point. Weeks later I picked it up and finished it, and even liked it. I didn't love i
Sweet Home Highlander was a very enjoyable read and a great start to the Tartans and Titans series, a spin-off of the Lords of Essex series.

Lady Aisla Montgomery is happy with the life she’s made for herself in Paris, so long as her husband, Niall Stuart Maclaren, remains in Scotland. However, after six years she must travel to Scotland to seek a divorce, meaning she will be forced to face the life and man she fled. Niall is shocked to find Aisla has returned and even more so when she asks for a

I'm embarrassed that, despite the title, I didn't realize until I was 25% through the book that it was a re-imagining of Sweet Home Alabama, a movie that happens to be one of my biggest guilty pleasure/comfort movies of all time. I've seen it at least 10 times over the last 15 years, and so it was fun to see some of it transported to 19th century Scotland, but it also made it even more predictable than your usual HR.

Overall, I thought Sweet Home Highlander was rather fun with some decent ba

How often do we get a second chance at love? For Alisa and Niall, it could happen. Married young and then separated for six years (why you ask? will have to find out!) Aisla has been living in Paris and decided she wants to remarry, but has one problem. She must divorce her husband first. Returning to Scotland to confront Niall, she finds he is not as willing as she thought. The only way he will grant her the divorce is that she live with him as a wife for six weeks and then he will give her the ...more

Tartans and Titans #1

Historical romance set in Scotland with a second chance at romance theme for Niall and Aisla proved to me that what is usually wrong with a relationship in the beginning is often a problem later on or should the two get back together again.

Both hero and heroine seemed a bit lame brained at times and had me scratching my head thinking they must be daft or not have thought things through before saying or doing what they s

I adore resurrected marriage stories and this one goes to the top of my list. Lady Aisla Montgomery has lived the last six years the toast of Paris while her husband, she assumes, continues to drink and wench at his castle in Scotland. She married for love the first time. Perhaps marrying for friendship would work better the second time. But first, she must return to Scotland and ask her husband for a divorce. Little does she know, Niall Maclaren has cleaned up his act, but he is bitter and dete ...more

I always read romance novels in bouts. And by "bouts", I mean both that I read a bunch of them in a row and that I tend to not put them done until the end. Which invariably means I fuck up my sleep schedule, seeing how slow of a reader I am. One never learns...

Usually, what causes the end of said bout is either a couple unfortunate reads in a row, tiring me of the genre for a while, or a good book that reaches it's mid-story climax and then sadly flounders its way to an underwhelming ending, aft

Received in exchange for a honest review.

What I like most about this book is how Aisla isn’t what you expect for the time this takes place in. She is strong, independent, smart, feisty and mischievous. You can see that her heart is still hurting from her past with Niall but she is also frustrated at what is happening as well. She guards herself well and is very wary of Niall and really doesn’t believe he has changed. I love the deviousness of Niall’s mom.

Niall long ago had his heart broken. He ha

Aisla and Niall married really young and because of alcoholism, living in a diferente house, strange people and loss tearing them apart and six years later Aisla wants to divorce him.

Aisla live in Paris where she met her BFF Julien and he wants a convenient marriage with her to make his mother happy because she is very ill. Aisla goes back to Scotland to divorce her wild husband. When she gets there she wasn't prepared to the change in him and in Tarbendale.

Sometines Niall needs to be shut up by the only way his woman knows how, “all this time, I thought…” Aisla kissed him, so he wouldn’t have to finish his sentence..." Niall loves to tease his lady, “what do ye expect looking the way ye do, lass? I’m only a man after all.” His voice had gone low and husky. “Dunnae fash, we’ll be doing a different kind of dancing later.” I liked this book, I loved Niall. ...more

I was lucky enough to read an early version of Sweet Home Highlander. Howard and Morgan are off to a great start to a new series. Though slightly darker than the last book of theirs I read, I enjoyed every page of it. I adored Aisla and Niall and rooted for them the entire time. Looking forward to book 2 in Tartans and Titans.

Audible - This historical reminds me of the books I read as a teen. Niall and Aisle fell in love and married young. Neither were prepared for the heartbreak of a miscarriage. Drinking, fighting, tears, Aisla flees to France leaving bitter Niall behind. Now back for a divorce, miscommunication and old hurts, betrayal and sabotage, try to keep them apart. Slowly falling in lust to love, they get a sweet, sexy hea and the chance of a family.

This was not a “happy” sort of story. The antagonism, and mistrust between Aisla and Niall is prevalent throughout the story until the end when all is finally resolved.

I actually liked both their characters. Aisla’s leaving him is a waking up call to Niall who then buckles down and finally mans up. He learns responsibility and turns his efforts to improving the lives & livelihood of his people and finds that he has talents that he never realized before – a skilled craftsman and inventor. But he

Redemption was a bit too late for me.

He accuses her and won't listen for far too long.

It's hard to believe his attitude would change next time there was an issue.

Set in 1800s in Scotland, this is a second chance romance with treachery, jealousy, misunderstandings and love. Lost and found!

Niall and Aisla were introduced in the previous book where they were teenagers and madly in love. However, six years has passed since and things are very different.

Jealousy and conniving pulled this young couple apart and they went their separate ways. Aisla went to Paris whilst Niall has become a responsible and respected Laird.

Although, they are so far apart, they s

This is the first story in the Tartans and Titans series and I can't wait for more!!! There are so many people that I hope are written about...but...

This story is about Aisla and Niall. They were married quite young but have been separated for six years. Aisla has been away in Paris and has become more "refined" and finds that she enjoys Paris over Scotland. Niall, meanwhile, has been trying to make something of himself with the land that he has.

Aisla needs a divorce to carry on with her life,

I love historical fiction and this book is simply amazing. It's well-written and has some very interesting characters. Especially, I loved both Ailsa and Niall. The story is emotional, full of angst, romantic, and quite humorous at times. I quite enjoyed reading it and would recommend it if you like historical fiction, especially those set in Scotland.

Lady Ailsa hasn't been to Scotland in six years. After her husband told her to leave she just never could return. So she lived in Paris a

Yeah. I had no idea what to expect of this book other than the fact that it would have some lovely push and pull. What i din't expect was for that push and pull to last for the entire book. Well, until 80%, more or less. I really wanted to punch Niall in the face a couple of times. He was a typical male for being fooled by a pretty face. Because a pretty woman can't be wicked at all, especially if she has been a f

These were new authors to me, and I'm glad to say that I'm not the least bit disappointed. I love a good Highlander story, and this was one. Niall and Aisla were married young, and things did not end well! They've been apart for six years, but are reunited when Aisla needs to obtain a divorce from Niall in order to marry her best friend, Julien. Things between our Hero and Heroine don't look too good now, either!

Both Aisla and Niall are strong willed people....perhaps stubborn would be a better

my personal markers for a great read...1. smart and engaging writing, 2. Humorous, 3. sexy interactions and 4. stories with family/friends.

I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters i
