A good book about a great rescue program and sanctuary. I do wish the guy who wrote the intro had photos of his cats even though they weren't cats from the sanctuary.
Depicts the cat section of the Best Friends Animal Society sanctuary in Utah, where they take in rescued felines from hoarding situations, from Hurricane Katrina, and those with major problems that can’t be handled at other shelters. The idea is to have them adopted out, but some stay. Tells the stories of several specific cats, and also some of the people who help. Two main drawbacks: the book is too short, I'd like to see more stories; the shelter is in Utah, which is too far away to visit any time soon. Major chapters are: Mission Possible, building a community of cats; Reaching Out to Rescue, second chances for cats in need; The Caring Never Stops, lives of dignity and love.
I came across the worderful gem of a book at the library recently. It was just wonderful.
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in southern Utah is home to some two thousand abused and abandoned animals: cats, dogs, birds, horses rabbits and more. The take animals from other shelters and rescue groups, and even have a rapid response team in place that conducts rescues after natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina.
Featured in this beautifully illustrated book are spotlight cats on nearly everypage, and a story about them as well. Cat lovers will melt when they see these beautiful furballs, and many who read this book will surely shed a tear or two in the process.
The caring never stops at Kittyville, where even cats with special needs are give a new opportunity at life. Even the unadoptable: the sick, the older or those cats that have suffered trauma will enjoy a good life, for the rest of their life at this wonderful sanctuary.
If you love cats, and love reading about happy endings for all of God's creatures, then check out this book. I really loved it, and hope you will too.
This book is about an organization that takes in cats and either helps them find a new home or lets them stay at the no-kill shelter. The stories of the individual cats are sad since some came from bad situations, but they always end happily and are very uplifting!! It's a nice book about a great organization!
I just really like reading this kind of book! The animals end up being pampered survivors after surviving traumatic treatment. You've read these sort of stories before, but as every animal is unique, each little anecdote is different in its own way.
it's about cats. what can i say? i'm eating it up. i want to go there and find out how they do it, find peace with all those grown cats living together. Why do people say cats are solitary creatures, when they can live together, and when feral, they live in colonies?
Kittyville is a kitty town at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. This books show photos and stories of some of the cats they get there. A beautiful and heartwarming book.
