An enjoyable story of a woman's journey from childhood

1st book read by this author. Really enjoyed it. Couldn't put down. Tells the story of Phyllis, her bullying father and timid mum. How her life unfolds in relationships with men and her children. At times I felt Phyllis could have been more stronger, felt she gave in too easy to her bullying husband's, but I can imagine there could have been more story to tell. Really enjoyed this book. Excellent read

A very good imaginary story

First time I've read any of Sandy Griffiths work, you have a dread of what is likely,to happen to the heroine, but its much worse ,than you think it will be, all the characters are ,very real you believe in all of them, defiantly would recommend this book ,and I'm not easily pleased

Gripping from start to end. Every chapter came to life and think it would be good made into a film. The ending was a pleasant surprise. I didn't see that coming.

An ok read

The story's pretty uninspiring, and the main character really began to get on my nerves to be honest. But, as a peak into how we as individuals see only how life affects us, this is work us rather realistic.

Utterly absorbing. Great story.

Didn't want this book to end, but couldn't wait to see what happened to all the characters. A brilliant storyline to which most women could relate at some point

Really didn’t enjoy this book but had to finish it. Didn’t know what the purpose of the story was? A woman who like wedding cake?? Was glad to finish it
