A Royal Shade of Blue
The Modern Royals #1
Aven Ellis
Narrated by-Andrea Emmes

Novel 5:
Ellis’ first in her Modern Royals series is a sweet and sexy Cinderella Tale with a thoroughly modern twist when a Prince and commoner find love with the help of instagram. The couple are a breath of fresh air, he’s a royal with a family who put the D in dysfunction and she has always been the girl who had a brain tumor. They’re flawed and refreshing, likeable and real and there is just enough drama to make it int

I'll be the first one to admit that I love the Royals. So when Aven decided writing a 'royal romance' was long overdue, I was both excited and a little apprehensive that those fictional royals wouldn't live up to the image we have in our heads of the British Royals. But I should've known, I had absolutely nothing to worry about.
Aven Ellis has created this amazing, very believable fictional British Royal Family with incredible detail. This book, this family, just screams for more. And

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free for a Blog Tour in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Firstly a BIG thank you to Aven for a) my copy of this book, b) letting me organise this tour for her and c) for letting me continue to beta read even tough I have been seriously rubbish lately.

The first thing I want you all to know is that I am not a huge fan of the Royals. I mean I'm not

Fun, fun read --- especially after the Royal wedding == Aven's books always make me want to be in my 20's again, and have a chance at these relationships!!! And not many things make me want to be 20 again!

I love the royals and I am obsessed with everything Aven Ellis writes so I was ecstatic when this landed in my inbox! Life has been crazy but I'm finally getting around to reviewing! It's out now so make sure to get your copy!

Clementine Jones loves antiques and their history. When a mysterious British guy named CP sends her an Instagram DM Clementine doesn't expect to be able to talk to him so easily, especially not knowing what he looks like. She's able to reveal her biggest secret and turn to

I have to admit I’m a bit late coming to the party for Aven Ellis books. I have a few sitting on my kindle but they have never quite caught my eye enough to dip in. Anyway when I got the opportunity to take place in this blog tour I jumped at the chance because it coincided totally coincidentally with the ‘Harry & Meghan’ Royal Wedding taking place.

A Royal Shade of Blue is a very sweet easy book to read. I loved the characters of Clem & CP … Clem has had a troubled childhood riddled with

I never got past 18%. The beginning was interesting and possibly funny but for me, it just didn't click. The characters were childish. I am not afraid of insta love stories but this one made me ask myself "What?" seriously. And I also love cheesiness but the characters just couldn't pull the cheesiness off. It just was kind, blah.

Writing: Don't tell me, show me the story. Not to big on a narrator story. Though this did have first person/live action going on... That tended to be in the backgroun

I absolutely adored this book using the royalty angle and what perfect timing! Christian and Clementine met in a uniquely modern way but have many obstacles to overcome. Christian is the perfect prince every girl would love to meet while Clementine is the sweet, but sassy, protagonist who captures his heart. As every obstacle is dealt with you keep reading to find out if our wonderful couple will have the HEA they deserve. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

I was initially going to give it a 3/3.5 because it felt a bit too insta-lovey (which totally could have been solved by the author like having a few more beginning chapters that were solely texts/emails between Clementine and CP to show how they fell in love), but I rounded up because in the end I truly enjoyed it and it’s the first royal book I’ve read in a while that wasn’t a total let down + I can get over this kind of insta-love

First 5 star book I have read in years!

I read a lot of romance books. This is the first 5 star book I have read in years. They are always filled with cursing, and over-the-top sex, leaving very little room for real romance. Or, they are so sickeningly sweet, there is no romance at all.
Not so this time! It was just so interesting! Based on facts, real people, real events, real antiques, homes, palaces, and the like, but with a twist of fairytale. Plenty of romance, not sickeningly sweet, but no c

Aven Ellis and a royal love story?! YES PLEASE!!!! A Royal Shade of Blue is the author’s first book in the “A Modern Royals” series.

Clementine Jones has been through a lot in her childhood and has an intense medical history. It’s still haunting her, because her family keeps on reminding her. She is passionate about art history and antiques. One day she finds herself chatting the mysterious CP Chadwick on Instagram and they comple
I've been in a princess-reading mood, I guess, which has led me in some peculiar directions. Like, you know, this one. It's a fairytale story: random college student gets random message, random message turns into friendship, turns into romance...turns out that the guy messaging her is a prince.

It's pure princess fantasy, of course. But I'm reminded of The Royal We, and I can't help comparing this rather unfavourably to that: because in The Royal We, there's a tremendous amount of attention paid

I've enjoyed Aven's sports romances, so when given the chance to read her new venture into the a royal family, I was excited. I'm glad I was given the chance to read it!

I enjoyed the unique way Christian and Clementine met. Having graduated college, Prince Christian is struggling with becoming a full-time royal. He hates the spotlight and has been criticized in the press because of it, often being called a recluse. Clementine helps him find his way, while showing him it's ok to be himself and le

1. I love books about the Royals.
2. I love books with strong female leads.
3. I love books with good supporting characters who help advance the plot.

A Royal Shade of Blue (Modern Royals #1) had all three, so it was a winner for me from the get-go. But what it also was was charming. The main characters were not overblown or ridiculous. They were kind and caring, but also age-appropriate. They struggled, they misfired and they came together naturally. They also had the typical relationship issue

Clementine "meets" a man on-line during her senior year at Stanford. He reaches out to her originally because he likes an art installation she has helped with as part of her internship, a requirement of her art history major. Over several months time, Ace, as he calls her, and Christian become close, despite the fact that he is at Cambridge and she is in Palo Alto. When she finally discovers that he is Prince Christian, second son of the King of England, she is almost paralyzed. But Christian rea ...more

Clementine is a student at Stanford who has a love of art.. She posts pictures on her instagram and one day she gets a message from CP in the UK admiring her posts.. They embark on a getting to know you relationship with texts, phone calls, pictures (although not all revealing ones) and they both fall for the other without ever have met them. When CP finally reveals he is Prince Christian of Chadwick will Clementine be able to deal with all that comes with dating royalty? Can the media and his f ...more

Ellis the Author that keeps you coming back

Ok seriously loved this book! Clementine was so real in how genuine she really is but also isn't afraid to face real life with the ups and down. Christian is just swoon worthy and has everything you would want a prince to have charm, hotness, a sense of humor and so much more. While these two got together in an awkward way you can the respect and love they have for each other. They aren't afraid to be themselves and love each other for that alone. Lets
I loved this but also was highly annoyed. The story line is easy to see forward the queen hates the American. Great, fine, but it could have been so much better. Nothing from the Princes POV at all was a huge issue for me and because of that you see none of his interactions with his family and especially his mother. Even if there had been just a few chapters or parts of his POV in the later chapters it would have added so much to the story. Also the next book should show them getting married and ...more

The best book ever!!!

I am American and met my British husband online like Christian and Clementine. We got to know each other online and in the phone. When we finally met in person I knew he was the one for me. It wasn't an easy road. And in had to make sure I was willing to give up my wife and fami!y to move halfway across the world. So I totally relate to Clementine and what she's going through. I loved this book so much I am going to reading again. Great romance and characters

I am a sucker for all things royal. I've read too many royal romance to count but this one was Aven all the way. I really couldn't put it down. I loved the London setting and the details concerning the royal family. It was super unique to have them meeting on instagram. I wish there was more set up of Clementine and Christian's falling in love. It seemed to have happened off the page, per say, and so it seemed like one moment they were just texting the next minute madly in love. I love how all o ...more

With a royal wedding right around the corner, this book is the perfect book to get you in the mood. I am in love with Aven's modern take on falling in love with a prince storyline. It is light hearted, with a bit of drama thrown in. I love Clementine's quirkiness. I also liked how CP deals with his family issues and life after college. I really can't wait to see what Aven comes up with next.

When you thought contemporary romances featuring royals was done to death, along comes an interesting take.
The characters are likeable, and understandable. Regardless of stations in life they find their missing piece in each other. Thankfully we are spared a long angst filled journey!

This is the first book I've read by this author and it will not be my last.

It’s alright

If you like a melodramatic love story with contrived drama, this book is for you. There were moments when I laughed out loud because the dialogue was just ridiculous. The characters were adults, and yet I thought I was reading about 16 year olds. I’m sure Aven Ellis is a great person, but I felt this book was too juvenile to be considered an adult romance.

This book captivated me from beginning to end! Clementine and Christian have a love like no other but they have plenty of obstacles to overcome. I loved reading their story and I really felt like I was there with them through Aven Ellis' descriptions! I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

There is a lot packed into this book

This isn't a Cinderella story. It's a love story yes but it's a normal love story of a prince that doesn't want to be in the public eye and a girl
Who has been over protected because of a medical condition.

I don’t understand all the good reviews - I feel like I must have been reading a different book than everyone else. I only made it 20% through before giving up. The characters were one dimensional and the storyline was just cheesy.
