The premise for Laurie Lewis’s latest book is quite thought-provoking on its surface: what would you do if a stranger approached you with a marriage proposal, a stranger that has just learned of his third occurrence of leukemia? It sets the mind racing, that’s for sure. But before I had a chance to even dwell on the concept, I was swept up into the story, my senses keen to find out where this book was going to take me.

It didn’t take long to get invested in the characters. Mikaela and Matt are so

I very nearly passed on this book because of all the drama potential. I mean, Matt is dying and we know that from the very beginning. And that limits story possibilities quite a lot and it creates a minefield that few authors can navigate successfully. Particularly in a story tagged as romance because that means that the love story has that tragic backdrop dogging it every step of the way. So the author has to take that very serious background and make it work with the joy of finding true love.

Love on a Limb by Laurie Lewis a four-star read that can be read at any time of year. This appears like a Christmas novel but as the tag line suggests it can be read at any time, there are scenes of Christmas but there are lots of others as well, as we follow Matt and Mikaela on a journey one that starts with them as patient and nurse and sees them becoming friends and more, Matt is scared to face his illness and possible times ahead alone and just wants someone to be with him on his journey. Ms. Lewis knows no bounds when it comes to heart/gut wrenching romance. This time it's between a dying cancer patient and his nurse/soon-to-be wife. The agreement is not to fall in love, in case the worst happens.

I seriously don't have words to describe the deep emotional roller coaster ride this book launches you on, leaving you dizzy, breathless, and believing in hope. It is little short of perfect in terms of a clean romantic read.

As always, Ms. Lewis is at the top of her craft. I imagine she

Love on a Limb, simply is a book that is beautiful, heartbreaking, and touch so many of my emotions. Laurie Lewis wrote a story with no limits in this romance. Matt is dying and needs a caregiver so offers a marriage of friendship to help him in his last days. He doesn’t wasn’t want love, he needs a companion and someone to be his voice when he can’t. Mikaela, a loving nurse take Matts request and it doesn’t take much for the marriage to turn to love. Mikaela begins to pray for a miracle and Mat ...more

This was a lovely read. Matt's wish to have an advocate, and someone to be with him on his final journey was very poignant, heartfelt, and of course romantic. Mikaela is a lovely, beautiful, honest, and caring nurse. Their agreement, his cancer journey, their gradual achingly, beautiful fall was a pleasure to read. Actually brought tears to my eyes as I read portions of it. Two beautiful souls, with genuine, honest caring hearts, just a lovely read.

This book gave me chills all through my body. I cried tears of pain and also joy. I was up all night wanting to find out what happens to this beautiful couple.

Love On A Limb is a fantastic holiday romance by Laurie L.C. Lewis. Ms. Lewis came to my attention when I read her book Sweet Water, followed by The Dragons of Alsace Farm. Those books were really wonderful, so when this one showed up in my feed I knew I had to read it. This story really does have quite a lot going on in it- there is romance, discovery, a struggle between life and death, coming to terms with one’s mortality, love and faith, emotions, humour, and is really a rewarding read

Every time I read one of Laurie’s books I know that I am going to read something thought provoking. She has such an amazing ability to write her books with such depth of emotion and they really are a joy to read. It is certainly one of those books that has you thinking about it as soon as you have finished.

Love on a Limb is a poignant story about despair, loss, love and compassion.

Mikaela is a nurse working in an oncology treatment unit. She lives on her own and despite her own losses, she remains cheerful.

Matt is attracted to Mikaela. Her cheerful and compassionate demeanour is like a breath of fresh air. He approaches her with a proposition and after spending some time together, she agrees. Th

Wow this story was completely unexpected and I loved every minute of it. The story flowed, and the character were fantastic. I felt what they were feeling, and I was sent on an emotional roller coaster and it was great!
This story is about Matthew and Mikaela. They were fast friends and they soon turned to love.
This story is one I would definitely read again, and I would recommend it to a friend.

This book tugged on my heartstrings from beginning to end. I cried a lot at the end. I really want to start doing Christmas ornaments like they did, but I don't think I'll put my tree up in September. Matt and his wife are fighting an uphill battle. But they still make memories together. Their love and commitment to each other brought tears to my eyes. I loved this book all the way through.

Love on a Limb reads like a Life Time movie which isn’t a bad thing. It just means the story flowed in such a way it allowed me to fully picture the scenes as if I was watching a film and some scenes for me were too “perfect”. The seriousness of the theme leukemia and the struggles to make sure someone carries out your wishes when you no longer can voice them is what Matthew Grayken is faced with.

Love on a Limb is a quick and endearing contemporary Christian romance that I’ve read several times

Wow this book had me on such an emotional roller coaster of emotions. Its been a while since a book has had me literally sobbing in places. Its safe to say in some parts of this book I reckon I had the ugly cry happening. This boo is full of hope, romance and sadness. Matt is young and successful when his life takes an ugly turn for the worst. Matt goes from being healthy to terminal and now he has decisions to make. I'm going to be perfectly frank here. I almost stopped reading. This book brought back raw emotion and the raw reality of my own father's mortality fight with cancer. Sadly his was terminal. I'm honestly glad I kept going. I gave it a fighting chance just like the beloved characters in this beautiful story of hope, love, and family.
I can still recall my father's last gurgled breath he took, it was heart wrenching, even now 11 years and a few month later. He ended up passing way Nov 19 one week f

Love on a Limb drew me in from the start and when it finished, sigh, I wanted more!
Matt is very sick; Mikaela is a nurse, caregiver, and ?. Matt approaches Mikaela with a proposition of marriage so he will have a person who can speak for him in case he can't due to his illness. Mikaela agrees, this will be a marriage of conveniences. Right? The challenges and circumstances that surround this marriage and illness are a little over whelming at best! Will this "loveless" marriage work? As Matt and

This book was a really sweet story. I was super excited by the premise and the blurb because it reminded me a bit of "Chances Are" by Traci Hunter Abramson (which I love).

While it was emotional, I felt like I didn't quite understand the characters well enough, or how their relationship progressed. I understood how Matthew could be in love with Mikaela, but it seemed like from the beginning, she was also in love with him, which didn't make sense. I just felt like I didn't really know who the char

Have you ever hated but loved a story? That’s how I felt reading this book it was so good but it had me in my feelings. I’m seriously not a crier but I had tears in my eye and some even escaped. The author knew how to draw you in and make you feel. Matt and Mikaela’s story was pure magic. A relationship built on trust, faith, hope and ultimately love. Dealing with loss is difficult not just for the loss of life because you know you will not see that person

One of the ways I judge how good a book is, is when it makes me think for days afterwards about what I would have done in that situation, how would that affect the small details of life, and other such world building type thoughts. This book definitely qualifies as great. Laurie Lewis has a talent for writing in such a way that you are totally immersed in the story and I honesty could not put this book down. Love on a Limb by Laurie Lewis is a very well written book. I have read books which have made me cry before but none on the level of this. The book really is an emotional journey on which you embark on with the characters once you've started to read. The characters are well described so attachable (maybe too attachable!).

Matt is one of the unfortunate people who has been told they have cancer. He is a single man and starts to fret over what will happen to him and who will make those all importa

I'm not going lie, I ugly cried reading this story and had to have a coffee and cake to compensate the emotional rollercoaster.

The story is regarding Matthew who has a disease which is killing him, Mikaela is a nurse who is helping him but will a simple question change their world forever.

Matthew is lonely and is dying so when he conocts an idea of asking his nurse to marry him and become his companion and nurse it seems like a win win decision.

Mikaela is lonely, but when Matthew asks a question

Sometimes you just need a really emotional book to laugh and cry when you're too overwhelmed to cry about what's going on in your actual life. This is one of those books. Loved every minute of it.

Matt did come off a little creepy at first, knowing so much about someone that's only had professional interaction with him before... but it all seems to work out in his favor. He needs a companion, a confidant, and someone that he can trust to be his voice until his end of days arrives. Who better to

“Love on a Limb” by Laurie Lewis was a good story and one that really grabbed the reader’s attention from the start. The writing style of the author is that of a pro because there was at no point in time when I wanted to put the story down. I had to know what was next and what was going to happen between the characters. I have often wondered how many times people get married out of convenience and this story shows how even if that is the case, people can learn to grow with one another. The chemi ...more

“What is love? To the old, it is companionship, loyalty, and memories. To the young, it is excitement and physical attraction. Many liken love to a fire. It begins with kindling that ignites quickly with sparks and brightness, but a fire made of kindling requires one to constantly search for more fuel. Some couples tire of the effort, and the fire dies. But wise couples know that adding a log will make the fire endure. It may not have the same spark of kindling, but it provides warmth and light that will see them through the long nights ahead.” 1 likes
