Oh boy, this was one scary scenario. With echoes of Grimms Fairy Tales, ‘Little Darlings’ will probably give you sleepless nights along with the protagonist!

It’s the wee small hours of the morning on the maternity ward, and even though she’s exhausted, Lauren Tranter lies awake, already worrying about the responsibility of looking after her newborn twins Riley and Morgan - like any new mum she has concerns about her new role in life, keeping these little ones safe and well. Little does she know
    "Mother Knows Best"

Lauren Tranter has just given birth to twin boys, Morgan and Riley. Naturally she is exhausted and in need of sleep. But she knows what she saw in her room in the maternity ward - a woman attempting to take her twins and replace them with her own, "it’s only fair". However, when hospital security and the police arrive, they find no evidence of the possible kidnapper. Furthermore, no one believes Lauren, but Detective Harper, a police officer feels that there might be something

Let me begin this review with saying that I have absolutely no business reviewing an ARC that doesn't even publish until April 2019 when I have so many ARC's pending soon or better yet the ones I'm behind on BUT the synopsis for this is beyond intriguing and it's October when it's time for all things creepy and spooky and this one seemed a perfect choice for the season.

And I was right! <--- it does happen once in awhile! ;)

Whoa! Little Darlings was an absolute delight to read.

The story is inspired by some deliciously creepy dark fairy tales that adds an extra layer to the sinister, menacing and eerie feel of the book. I absolutely love these types of tales and found myself devouring this one!

LITTLE DARLINGS by MELANIE GOLDING is an unsettling, compulsive and mysterious tale that had me constantly wavering between believing Lauren’s story and thinking maybe she really is just imagining it all. The feelings that I had for Lauren thro

Lauren Tranter is a new mother to twin boys. As many new moms do, Lauren struggles upon her return home from the hospital after giving birth. She is exhausted, she is constantly feeding her babies, she can’t find time for a shower, she can’t possibly think of finding a way to venture out of the house with the boys to get groceries. Her husband works a lot and pushes Lauren to get out of the house with the twins to refresh and reacquaint hersel

If Grimms' Fairy Tales and The Changeling had a twin babies, Little Darlings would be those babies.

An unsettling tale of a new mother, Lauren, of twin boys, who finds herself terrorized by a macabre woman attempting to abduct Lauren's babies and replace them with her own. Her account is dismissed by hospital staff, the police, and even her husband as a hallucination attributed to exhaustion, even Lauren herself begins to question her own sanity. A truly haunting story. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I finished it.

Lauren gives birth to twins and taking care of them without any help has been exhausting. Taking her husband's advice she decides to get out of the house and take them for a stroll in the park. She dozes off for a moment and when she wakes up they're gone!

The police is called and luckily they are found nearby, however, even though these babies look exactly like hers she knows they're not her children. From

My first thought is that though this is billed as a thriller/mystery, maybe it’s also a bit horror/paranormal. Whatever it is, it’s super creepy, and it will not make you envy the life of a new mother of twins.

It starts with a well-written but harrowing account of natural child birth. Utterly exhausted and now alone in the middle of the night at the hospital, Lauren is certain she sees a bedraggled homeless woman telling her that she must choose only one of her twin boys. Her claims are quickly

Genuinely creepy, deeply unsettling and hugely atmospheric tale, something a bit different and honestly addictive. Made me want to sleep with the lights on after one particularly clever scene early on.

Out May next year I'll talk about it a lot more then. I would caution you not to read it if you are a new parent or are about to be a new parent of twins! Trust me. When they are older then you can read it ha.

    Really excellent. Highly recommended.

In an extraordinary coincidence, I watched the movie, The Changing, a couple of days before I read this novel.
I became completely absorbed in the movie, the ending sending tears streaming down my face.

Take my rating with a grain of salt because my friends LOVED this one. I’ll blame my sorta fail on the fact that I am not a big fan of . . . .

Combined with the fact that everyone else in a book can act like a complete dimwit and do things that are stupid and/or dangerous and I’ll still love it - EXCEPT if that person is a police officer. Occasionally it flies, but usually that gets on my nerves.

This was a perfect Halloween read for me. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something just a bit creepy and unnerving. It never crosses into completely terrifying, it's more of a slow unraveling that keeps you on edge, starting to question everything. Chilling and atmospheric, this book features snippets of old folk tales... each having to do with twins. We now of course understand how twins come to be, but there's still something just a bit mysterious and intriguing about them. Many years ...more

A dark mix of a fairy tale, taut thriller, and deeply personal horror, Little Darlings had me on the edge of my seat. I don't plan on having kids, but I would never ever read this while pregnant or having a newborn. Don't do it. The book is told from the point of view of Lauren Tranter, an exhausted new mother of twins and Jo Harper a detective who investigates the events that take place concerning Lauren and her twins. The story starts towards the end of Lauren's long labor and the baby boys are named Morgan and Riley. Lauren spends several days in the hospital with them, wondering when her "love" for her babies will appear. Creepy and unsettling

Little Darlings is a story about Lauren who just gave birth to twins. She should be over the moon as both babies are doing well, however, on her second night in the hospital, she finds a strange homeless woman in her room threatening to abduct the twins and swap them with her own babies. Police are called but no one seems to believe Lauren's story. When she returns home, Lauren is scared to leave her house. After a few weeks she finally agrees to take the babies to the park.

First, many thanks to Crooked Lane Books for the ARC of Little Darlings! And many thanks to the Traveling Sisters for the opportunity to participate in this fun group read.

A creepy read for that spooky time of year! I thoroughly enjoyed this eerie tale over the Halloween season. Life with newborn babies isn't easy. The exhaustion, the responsibilities, the overall mega life change... anddd... suddenly something dark and fearful too? OH NO. Little Darling

Wow, what a thriller! I struggled a bit to get into this in the beginning, but eventually the plot took off, and I was sucked in.

The protagonist, Lauren, gives birth to twins. A smelly, dirty woman attacks her in the hospital and tries to steal her babies. Nobody believes her, but an officer is dispatched to make a report. A series of strange events happen, and her lack of sleep from caring for the infants starts to get to her. Is she imagining everything?

Little Darlings tells the tale of every mother’s worst nightmare, that her baby was stolen and exchanged for a monster. As fascinating as changeling stories are, I have not found that there are a ton out there. The only ones that I have read before this are The Replacement and the Trylle series, both of which were great. Little Darlings incorporates folklore into the tale as well, giving it a terrifying edge over the other b

Wow! This book was so creepy! Lauren has just given birth to twin boys. It was a difficult birth and she is trying to recover while nursing and tending to two infants. Of course anyone who has had an infant or has taken care of one knows you can become sleep deprived very quickly! When Lauren calls the police saying a woman is trying to abduct her boys the nurses and guards find no one around. It is put off as a hallucination, but is it?

A VERY unsettling tale with echoes of Grimms Fairy Tales, Little Darlings is utterly captivating, gorgeously atmospheric and deliciously creepy. The story follows Lauren, who's just given birth to twins. Exhausted and overwhelmed, Lauren isn't coping well, and things go from bad to worse when the babies are stolen from her one day in the park. After a police manhunt, the babies are found, but Lauren is convinced they've been switched. These are not her babies.

Pregnancy is my ultimate body horror, and though this is more in the genre of dark fantasy, the book certainly horrified me more than most horror novels! It's the story of Lauren, a new mother of twins, who is utterly exhausted--she had a terrible birth experience, has no support at home, and hasn't had a full night's sleep since the birth.

Then she becomes convinced her children aren't her own, but changelings.

I had heard lots of things about this book on Twitter and was delighted to get an early copy through Netgalley. My thanks to the publishers.

Little Darlings starts off, in my opinion, at a slow pace. Building up the tension and drawing the reader in gradually. I’m not a fan of fantasy, fairytales or folklore normally, but this book has possibly changed my mind.
