I don't know what the author thought they were trying to convey in this book. I get the friendship angle, but it reeks of bullying.
The drum was the leopard's drum. It was his choice if he didn't want to share it. But the other animals tricked him and made him give it up. How is that a good quality in people? Basically this book is teaching kids that if they want something that belongs to someone else they bully them into giving it up. Safe to say this book went in the recycling bin.
