⭐️ 5+ "Rose Garden" Stars ⭐️
A.L. Jackson has an exceptional talent! There’s never been any of her books that didn’t completely amaze me! With every single novel, she creates a universe with the perfect balance of lyrical prose and breathtaking emotions! More of You, the first installment in her Confessions of the Heart Series is another wonderful gem with new engaging protagonists, a very suspenseful atmosphere and heart-gripping feelings! This is a story of second chance, but also discovery, redemption, loyalty and love!

“You are so damn pretty. I don’t have pretty things in my life, Faith.”

When Faith starts receiving puzzling threats, Jace Jacobs, the boy who broke her heart ten years earlier re-enters her life. There’s lot of animosity coming from Faith, but you can’t help feeling the underlying feelings still so potent between them. The distance and the heartbreak she suffered through can’t erase their powerful love! It’s palpable within every word, line, page of this story!

I felt all the agony, torment and shame coming from Jace like of whirlwind. My throat was raw from the sobs I tried to contained during these moments of heartache. He’s so fast to blame himself for everything bad happening around him, but he doesn’t realize his true worth. This man is seriously a model of true devotion and I was captivated by his love for Faith flowing across the pages. Jace’s high sense of inferiority due to his harsh upbringing is truly upsetting! He’s such a great guy! He sure did bad things to survive, but at his core, you feel his noble heart and the desire to protect his loved ones!

After falling for Faith years ago, watching Jace lose his heart to her little girl Bailey got me all teary-eyed and smiling! Those moments between the two of them are so adorable and moving! Achingly beautiful and sweet! You feel his reticence to bond with her slowly melting away and leaving him with just a sense of protectiveness over this adorable girl!

“Love’s not about right or wrong, just like grief isn’t about counting days. Love is about being given a gift. Sometimes when we least expect it. Usually when we need it most.”

The flashback scenes are absolutely magnificent! I adored these moments where I could gradually learn more about Faith and Jace’s blossoming romance in their teen and the way it ultimately led to their breakup. Those scenes are just so spellbinding, poignant and has a real fairy tale vibe. I particularly cherished the parallel with beauty and the beast.

The crackling energy between this couple is agonizingly intoxicating! I felt the vibrations of the hope, attraction and affection they share and the anticipation for their reconciliation was excruciating. When Faith and Jace finally surrender to this overflow of feels, they are magic!

While this book is a romance that gets you fairly emotional, there’s also a thrilling intrigue interwoven within the storyline. The suspense and aura of mystery are stimulating! The secrets slowly revealed are unexpected and so well fabricated!

“Love boomed in my chest. Like the awakening of petals. A rose coming to life.”

More of You is a novel I inhaled and lived. My heart went through every feeling along with the heroes. The entrancing writing style and hooking storyline kept me riveted to this read. A.L. Jackson masterfully brought another spectacular group of characters together for this new series. I can’t wait to read the upcoming novels in the series for sure!

"But it was the wounds inflicted that couldn't be seen that always scarred the worst.

I've read thousands of books, but on my favorites shelf, there are only hundreds. This is one of those. More of You made a lasting impression, touching my heart and searing my soul. For someone who writes so many reviews, it's not often that I struggle for words. However; I want to do this one justice, and get across to you how very much I love this story. I want you to want to read it because it deserves to be read and appreciated by everyone. It would make an incredible movie, I can see it already in my mind...sigh. ❤️

Because the author did not share names and details in the synopsis, I will respect that and not do so either. A.L. Jackson did such a beautiful job of expressing the feelings of the characters that fell in love as teenagers. I felt their love and their pain intensely. I suffered right along with them when they were separated. I raged right along with her when he walked away, taking her heart with him and leaving his behind.

We were all devastated by that decision and at least two of us were driven crazy by not understanding why he did it. The story is told in dual POV alternating between past and present as the blanks are gradually filled in. I was thrown right into their love, lust, and turmoil and while the characters suffered from unanswered questions, so did I. But, at other times, I knew things that one was keeping from the other. And that was hard too. I yearned so desperately to ease their pain and comfort them. They are both so broken, and the only thing that could make them whole is each other. "Loving you makes me feel like I'm no longer just surviving. Loving you is living." But what happens when the love lives on, but they aren't together to share it?

Mind. Blown. Heart. Full. That's how I'm feeling right now. Knowing that this is a series and that there is more goodness headed my way makes me so happy. The line forms here...

“Every time I looked at him, it twisted something deep inside me. My love for him was bigger-more important-than anything else in my small, little world.”

Every time I pick up a new A. L. Jackson story I know I am in for something incredibly special; an unforgettable tale that will bring on all the feels, have me in tears at some point during the journey and leave me always anticipating her next adventure. More of You was definitely a story driven by deep seated emotion; a beautiful and captivating journey of second chances and a love so powerful, you feel it right down to your very core. I am a massive sucker for second chance love stories; I thrive on the angst, the anticipation and the fact that love and forgiveness always wins out over hate and revenge. They always say the ones you love the most are always the ones that hurt you the most and I do believe that to be true.

Faith has always loved Jace and nothing in this world could even come close to how special he was to her. It was the kind of love that sent butterflies fluttering through her stomach and a fire burning throughout her body. The connection was so strong, so intense and so real. He was her love, her life and her whole universe. She envisioned a future together that would last forever and nothing could have prepared Faith for the day Jace shattered her heart and left her to pick up the pieces.

“…that troubled boy was my shining star. He’d taught me to have faith that people were so much more than their exteriors and their reputations. Made me have faith that destinies weren’t based on our circumstances but rather what we made of them.”

Fast forward ten years and Faith has been to hell and back. The things she has seen and as a result has had to endure, no one ever should have to go through in their life-time. If it were not for her sweet little girl Bailey, she may not have ever found the strength to go on. Bailey is her life, her reason to wake up every morning and her faith that everything could possibly be ok. To make Faith’s circumstances even worse, she now fears for her safety and that of her daughter due to a threatening turn of events.

“You don’t get to be sorry for me, Jace. You have no idea what I’ve been through. What I’m goin’ through. Just…go back to where you came from. Go home.”
“I am home.”

Jace has always been the pariah of the town, the outcast, the rebel and the no hoper. The only shining star in his dark world was Faith. She always saw beyond what everyone else did; saw beyond the tattered clothes and rough exterior to what really mattered, what was inside his heart and soul. Ten years ago, Jace had to make the toughest decision of his life… to leave town and to never return. He never thought he was good enough for Faith and felt she deserved so much more than he could ever offer her.

Ten years on and Jace is now back in the small town he swore he would never return to. Jace is now successful, sophisticated and decked out in expensive tailored suits. He has become the man Faith always knew he could be and to her he is even more beautiful than ever. He is back for one thing and one thing only… Faith. He had heard of all the devastating events that had occurred and all the pain and suffering Faith has been through. He will stop at nothing in order to protect Faith and the timeless love Jace felt for Faith ten years ago is still there, stronger than ever. Will Faith forgive Jace for shattering her heart all those years ago and will they make it a second time around?

“You are love, Faith. You are my heart. You are my beauty. My world doesn’t know how to exist without you.”

Faith and Jace were the true epitome of soul mates. They had the kind of intense all-consuming love that people search their whole lives for, yet never find. Two tortured souls whose hearts beat as one, destined to be together and fate was never going to stop a powerful love like theirs soar.

More of You was a poignant, compelling and suspenseful second chance love story that was so heartfelt and unforgettable. A. L. Jackson’s writing was like pure poetry, it flowed so effortlessly from page to page that I just drank in every beautifully written word. It was an emotional, heart pumping story of love, loss, sacrifice and forgiveness. If you are a fan of second chances love stories that you just can’t put down, then you should definitely one click More of You.

When you begin and end a book in tears, you know it’s one that spoke to your soul. More of You by AL Jackson spoke to my soul. Sang to my soul. Shattered my soul. Slayed my soul. This story was my soul. So STUNNING! I LOVED IT!!! Second chance romances are my weakness, and More of You was my KRYPTONITE. PURE ROMANCE GOLD.

”You are beauty looking back at me.”

More of You is so much more than a romance. MORE of EVERYTHING. It’s poetrydreamy lyrics that come to life. It’s a story of regret and retribution, sacrifice and selflessness, and faith and forgiveness. It’s an emotional journey of fated friends and forever soulmates who lost their way. It’s a stunning, suspenseful, and soulful second-chance romance that grabbed me from the first page and never let go. I never let go.

”You took my heart when you left.”

“And I left mine with you.”

This is the story of two fractured and fated soulmates who became lost along the way until a collision of past and present brings them together. Jace and Faith. Beauty and Beast. So perfect together. So meant to be. Faith is an old soul who has lived a thousand years, so gorgeous and so giving, a beacon of light in the dark. Jace, I fell for this broken and big-hearted man right away, a beautiful beast with a vulnerable side that shows as he finds his light, his Beauty. I felt the forever love of Faith and Jace. I felt the pain of these characters as if it were mine. A broken hero and heroine that broke me yet melted me. Again and again.

I’d been lost for years. And with her in my arms? The only thing I could think was that I’d been found. Rescued.

The element of suspense fused with the feel-worthy writing makes this story a force to be reckoned with—UNFLINCHING and UNSTOPPABLE. You’ll hang off the emotional edge. This tender and thrilling tale tears your heart wide open and shakes every emotion out of you until you’re exploding. An EMOTIONAL EXPLOSION. Your heart will shatter into a million pieces and slowly be pieced back together again—maybe a few times. You can’t help but be ALL IN. More of You makes you feel every word in a story that’s everything you’d want in a romance. Heady. Hypnotizing. Heartfelt.

”What do you see in me?”

“Everything.”

There’s beauty bound to the words AL Jackson pens to life, the kind that makes you take deep breaths and tear up with not just the sad words but all the words. Words that take my breath away. Words that hold all the emotion. So powerful. So passionate. So poignant. I get all teary-eyed when AL Jackson’s soul-clenching words fuse with my heart and soul; I can’t help myself. I read her words with tears of sorrow and swoon. Poetry on pages with the power to touch every emotion. Oh did More of You touch me so much!

”You’re ruining me. Ruining every single thing I’d forced myself into believing.”

“You ruined me a long time ago.”

More of You is so beautiful, so broken, so breathtaking, and so brilliantly told. This book broke me in the best and most beautiful of ways. Toward the end, I felt each word through the tears. Words that stole my soul, stomping on it with each breath My heart bled for this book. My heart beat out of my chest. My heart was hit so hard, it spun right into my soul. Sweetness and sorrow. A story that shattered me, made me swoon and swept me away into its world. A.L. Jackson has written another stunning and soul-shattering romance that shoots sparks straight through the heart. More of You, with its meaningful and memorable characters, is a story that stays with the heart and soul long after the last page. Sheer brilliance from beginning to end. So heartbreakingly beautiful. So EVERYTHING.

”I think I’ve loved you since the day I met you.”

You took my heart when you left,” I whispered.
He took a slow step forward, his confession cracking in the air. “And I left mine with you.”

There's just something about this author's lyrical writing style that always manages to enrapture me in every book she writes. But when that book is a a gripping and emotional second chance romance with an dash of suspense? Stick a fork in me. I'm done.
I’d never loved anyone the way I’d loved him. He was a fire that consumed. A strike in the night. So wrong. So right.

Ten years ago, Jace was Faith's entire world. She fell fast and hard for the troubled and angry boy with the soulful eyes as a sixteen year old girl. Their romance was pure and potent. Faith was the good girl. Jace was the boy from the wrong side of the tracks that spent his childhood sacrificing to protect the ones he loved. They were each other's world....until Jace walked away and broke her heart. And while she never got over the boy that took her heart, she tried to move on with her life.

Now ten years later, Faith finds herself a single parent after her husband is brutally murdered. And when there's a threat to her life, Jace is back and determined to stand between her and any threat. But his presence quickly brings back all of the buried pain and feelings, and it doesn't take long for things to turn complicated.

I adored Jace. He's such a caring and protective alpha. He's a man that's been through so much but he never got over the woman he was forced to leave behind. He's paid for his mistakes and determined to right the wrongs of the past. He may have walked away from her once for reasons that he can't share, but he refuses to do it again. He'll protect Faith and her adorable daughter even if she'll never let him into her heart again.

Faith was the quintessential good girl. And while I'm not a reader that typically enjoys that, there was just something so endearing about her and her sweet little girl. This was such a beautifully written and emotional story. I loved the added suspense element that had me eagerly turning the pages. I already can't wait for more in this series, especially Jace's enigmatic brother, Ian. I'm totally hooked!

Every review I’ve read seems to hate the heroine, why? Because she had the nerve to have a life with someone else, because she had the nerve to have a kid with her husband? The nerve of this woman. She should have stay frozen for the 10 years while hero dipped his stick in everything! She had every right to moved on, he broke up with her. Why did everyone expected her to be frozen? 🙄

I didn’t have a problem with her moving on. I actually applauded the woman! She fell in love with the husband and had his kid. Now if this was the hero then he would have been the most amazing “man” out there. Fuck that, I don’t care she married hero’s cousin.
My only problem with this book is that author turned the husband into a criminal.

Hero wasn’t celibate so why should she?
Hero deserves to look at her kid’s eyes and know that she wasn’t his. He came back to the town expecting her to open her arms? He expected her to be waiting for him? He certainly didn’t!

Favorite Quotes:

Pain radiated from him like the heat waves that held to the sticky, summer air.

Who said I wanted to hear all your dirty little secrets? You usually leave me feeling like I need to pour bleach into my ears.

I was pretty sure Faith’s mom swooned right there, while her father slit my throat with a metaphorical knife… I would have laughed if her father weren’t clearly stabbing me over and over in his mind.

My Review:

Holy sizzling sex scenes – clutch the pearls, I was gasping. More of You featured heavily emotive and intriguing storylines with intensely sexy and compelling characters. The atmosphere swirled with grief, uncertainty, despair, hostility, and anger. I struggled with so much turmoil and angst, angst, angsty angst, I was dreadfully weary with it! Yet - I could not stop reading as the well-crafted mystery and ever-looming elements of danger and suspense kept niggling at my curiosity; and toss in a naughty best friend and a precocious and adorable toddler for levity and heart-squeezes and I was hooked. The mystery surrounding a murder and subsequent threats to the widow was well-plotted and maddeningly paced. I am not quite sure how she does it, but time after time, A.L. Jackson’s agile and crafty word skills keep me glued to my Kindle despite my personal distaste for near constant emotional tension and upheaval. Although her dazzlingly alluring characters and provocative storylines certainly help tip the scales.

This is not just a case of a misleading blurb.
The blurb says absolutely nothing about this book.
Not even that it's almost a suspense and/or thriller read.

Nowhere in the blurb it's said that now she has a kid.

Not only, very recently she's also become a fucking widow.

Yeah, that's right. She married OM and has a kid with him.

How convenient, her husband has been dead for 5 seconds and her ex lover (her "true" love) is back.

So, I'm curious.
What if her husband had never been killed?
Fuck this shit.
I'll never believe in their love.
No reason for them to have a second chance.
No reason.
I've tried for 4 chapters, but it was just pissing me off too much.

(No spoilers here. All this is in the first fucking chapter.)

I really don't know why this time I didn't wait for the non-kissing-author's-ass reviews, you know, the real ones. I always read them first. FML.

Don't come at me with "it's real life" or other shit. For one, I'm not here for real life. And two, the choice should be only mine and for that to happen this shit has to be in the fucking blurb, otherwise I feel like I was tricked into reading something I usually don't (like to) read.

Good job, ALJ. You're getting 1 star for your genius blurb.

Apparently I have to edit this:

1. There's something more disgusting. The dead husband is the hero’s cousin (not as bad as a brother or bff, but still) and she named their kid what she and the hero had wanted. What the actual fuck.
2. Apparently the dead husband is the bad guy. The criminal. HAHAHAHAHA. So what was the fucking point?! Pathetic.

Additional editing:

I think it's pretty obvious I'd have reacted the same way had it been the hero with a kid (it's on my profile, duh). But maybe that wasn't clear.
Kids with other people (or just ex-spouses for that matter) is simply something I don't like in my romances (especially second-chance romances). I especially fucking hate this trope when it's used as a plot twist (be aware, not this case, but still).

I just don't like when all these things are not in the blurb. I read single-parent romances (it's not something I hate per se), but it has to be my choice. Show Me the Way is an example and it's by the same author.

***

Adding the original blurb in case it changes:

My daddy warned me never to fall for a boy like Jace Jacobs . . .
The second I saw him walk through the door, I knew he was trouble.
A gorgeous rebel with a bad attitude and a huge chip on his shoulder.

My heart warned me. I didn’t listen.
I fell hard and fast.
He promised we’d be together forever, and then left me with a broken heart.

Now, ten years later, Jace Jacobs is standing at my door.
Sexier than he’s ever been.
Provocative and commanding.
Successful and powerful.
The man I always knew he would become.
But I promised myself I’d never lose my heart to him again.

Even time couldn’t dim our chemistry. One glance of his intense eyes, and I become weak. One brush of his hand, and he brings me to my knees.

Little do I know, Jace holds the key to everything I’ve lost and everything that threatens my future.
Now he will either save me, or he will break me all over again . . .

‘I’ve never loved anyone the way I’ve loved him. He was a fire that consumed. A strike in the night.’

Gosh, where to start with this review? Faith and Jace fell in love in high school, she was the good girl who lived in a nice family home and had dreams of a happy ever after, hopefully with Jace. He was the boy from the ‘wrong wide of the tracks’ but he loved Faith with every breath he took. Family is also really important to Jace, protecting his brothers came above everything else, even his own happiness. This stance would eventually be to his detriment.

It’s been 10 years since Faith last saw Jace. She will never forget the day he walked out of her life. Her life now is nothing like she imagined it would be when she was young. She is weighed down in responsibility, dealing with grief and living in fear. She is beyond shocked to see Jace Jacobs once again. Apparently, Jace is back in town to help her, protect her and make life easier for her. Why after all this time has he shown up like a knight in shining armour?

‘He’d always moved that way. His presence profound. Hitting me with the force of a bolt of lightning. As if I were standing right on the edge of a moment that would change everything.’

Jace has become the success that Faith always knew he could be. From the outside, Faith is finally in the place she always wanted to be but she is living a nightmare instead of a dream. Nothing has gone the way she planned, everything seems to be crumbling around her, literally. Faith doesn’t want to be dealing with these confusing feelings for Jace and he in turn is battling with himself to resist the temptation of this woman who has been embedded into his very being since the day they first met.

‘She was the one who’d filled me with the belief that I could change my world. She’d made me believe in something bigger. In something better.’

The intensity of love & emotion between Jace & Faith is at the forefront of this story, despite the years and distance it has never wavered, if anything it has deepened. It would be so easy to give into what they are both feeling but Faith is wary of giving her heart to a man who can so easily break her, once again. Jace has never felt good enough for Faith and when she finds out the part he has played in what has become of her now she will never want to see him again.

‘You’re so damned pretty. I don’t have pretty things in my life, Faith.’

‘That’s funny, since you’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.’

The need to protect Faith seems to override all sensibility for Jace, his Beauty needs her Beast and he won’t leave her side until he can do so knowing that he has all the problems that plague her.

I got completely caught up in the beautifully woven words that make up this story. Amy has such a unique way of crafting wonderful novels. She makes me feel like I’m there with the characters, feeling every emotion, hearing the intonation in their voices and experiencing everything with them. I love how descriptive every scene is, I’m not told what is happening, it is expressed in such a way that can clearly imagine being right there. This occurs every time I really this talented authors work. Another fabulous 5 star read!

‘You gave me everything. The courage to see myself as someone else than the rest of the world. You are the reason I fought. You are the reason I worked my way out of that life. It didn’t matter I didn’t have you. I still did it for you.’

With twenty books under her belt, it's a little surprising More of You was my first A.L. Jackson read. Though I have many of her books waiting on my Kindle, apparently receiving the paperback of this book was the push I needed to make time for this author. I really appreciated the chance to participate in the release of this book on Instagram!

As the story began, I was certain More of You would be an easy, five-star read. It's exactly the type of book I love: Romantic suspense, slow-burn, second-chance romance, and it even featured the renovation of a dilapidated old home! I adore each of these things and it seemed as if this novel was tailored to me. I enjoyed learning more about the characters through the alternating points-of-view and the past perspectives, which shed light on the current events the characters were experiencing. The chemistry between Jace and Faith was off the charts and their denial of their attraction made the story all the more exciting. I also really appreciated the added suspense and mystery in the story. These plot points were very well done and only added to my eagerness to keep flipping pages.

As I made my way further into the story, a few quirks I noticed about the author's writing began to become more apparent. I noticed almost every thought or sentence was the start of a new paragraph, making many of the pages look as if I was reading poetry. As the book progressed, this became more evident and happened with greater frequency. I don't know if this is the routine style in all of her books or if it was unique to More of You, nonetheless, I couldn't help but be distracted by it. I felt as if these choppy sentences and one or two-word paragraphs greatly took away from the flow of the story. It seemed as though while the story wore on, the author was exhausted by the writing process and ready for her own book to end. The blurb is a great example of this issue, as it's written with the same structure as many of the pages are.

Another issue I had towards the latter half of the book was the repetition of the characters sayings, tedious descriptions of what the other looked like, or what their goals were when life settled down again. I felt many of these things could have been edited out to streamline the story a bit and keep the readers' interest. Overall, this started out as a hit for me and completely fizzled out towards the end. If it weren't for the choppy sentences and paragraphs, and their increase toward the end of the story, I would have been able to avoid skimming and continue being invested in the book. It's hard not to be disappointed after the great start and numerous five-star reviews I've seen. I definitely will pick up another A.L. Jackson book in the future to compare her writing style in More of You to her past works. Her storytelling is phenomenal but I felt as though the actual writing was quite elementary, unfortunately.

Oh wow! This is too long. Its full of angst, suspense, second chance romance. OTT dramatic. I am not surprise with the OTT dramatic after all this is Miss Jackson signature.

What I like about this book is the blend of suspense, romance and angst. But it is too long. The story is dragging too long.

Jace has been always in love with Faith. This is their story starting from their high school year. The time line is back and forth. Told from dual POV. It is wreck me to see how Jace and Faith romance blossom and then they being teared apart cruelty. They separate for 10 years. During that 10 years, Jace went through so many things and finally he came home to Faith.

Meanwhile Faith lost her husband and now she is a single mother of one. Jace swore on his life to protect Faith and her child. And thats the moment I swoon for Jace. He is truly a selfless protector and his love for Faith shines through.

Overall I do enjoy this book very much.

Hauntingly beautiful, achingly sexy--this book has all the feels. Falling for Jace and Faith's love story and watching them learn to dream together again is such a beautiful journey, and the suspense angle keeps you clicking. Bailey Button is the icing on the cake. I want MORE of this series! I can't wait to learn about Ian and Mack!!!

Don't miss this FIVE-STAR MUST READ!!!!

A.L. Jackson did what she does best!! She’s wrote a beautiful story that tugged at my heartstrings like no other! It’s such a beautifully emotional story of love, loss, and redemption.

Here’s what I loved:
The writing. Oh my god!! This author’s writing is my kryptonite. Her prose is SO beautiful. I CANT GET ENOUGH! It’s descriptive and so full of emotion. She completely blows me away...book after book.

The characters really AMAZING! Faith and Jace’s story is not all sunshine and daisies. It’s hard. They have endured so much. When we first meet Faith and her daughter, she’s experiencing such a hard time. I immediately fell for her. That almost never happens for me. What a treat!

The storyline. Holy wow! Mystery, intrigue, angst, and suspense. I flipped the pages so fast. I needed to know what happened! Such a great read.

So, if second chance romances with beautifully broken characters is your jam, you need to read this book. RIGHT NOW! Grab it! You will not be sorry.

Highly recommended

"Do you think I could ever forget a single moment with you? Not ever. Not for a second. You were the only good thing I ever had."

More of You is the first book in AL Jackson's Confessions of the Heart series. Jace and Faith had a connection from the start. Faith comes from a good family, but Jace grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. He is seen as a troublemaker with a chip on his shoulder. However, Faith sees something in him that intrigues and draws her to him. I loved reading the flashbacks of how they met, and how their relationship developed. It is obvious that Jace is a good guy that is dealt a bad hand in life. He is very protective of his family and would do anything to save them, and this eventually becomes his downfall. Back to present time, Jace comes back to town after hearing about the incidents that are happening around Faith. She is in danger and he will do anything to protect her. She obviously is hesitant to allow him back into her life after he left her. However, she can't deny that she still has strong feelings for him.

"I could look at a million other women. A thousand sunsets. Every exotic beach. And you would still be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

Amy is one of the few authors whose books I'll blindly pick up, and who I trust to deliver great stories with amazing characters. The second chance trope is one that is used a lot, however the author gives her own spin to the story, and I believe her powers lies in the phenomenal characters she creates. There is always great character development, which makes it easy for me to feel everything that is happening in the story. What I love about second chance romances is that it shows the growth of the characters, and how they always find their way back to be with the one they were meant to be. I loved how organically the romance between Jace and Faith felt. Nothing was forced or rushed, which I find very important in these type of stories. I loved that there was some mystery and suspense, because it fit well in this story. The sex scenes were super hot. I also enjoyed meeting all the secondary characters, and I hope some of them will be on the main stage in the upcoming books. More of You was another amazing love story by the awesome AL Jackson, and I can't wait for the next book in this series to release.

This was an emotional and suspenseful second chance romance. More of You is told in dual POV and flashes between the past and present. I am a huge fan of second chance romances featuring childhood lovers. There is something so sweet, yet all consuming about young love. The angst was high in this book, as Jace and Faith's story is slowly revealed. I couldn't wait to find out what ultimately drove our lovers apart and enjoyed piecing it all together.

Jace and Faith are the classic good girl/bad boy star crossed lovers. Heavy responsibilities at home and for his family, put Jace on the fast track to destruction, but it's Faith's belief and love that start to chart a new course for him. Sadly, feelings of unworthiness and Jace's willingness to sacrifice anything for those he loves sets in motion a series of events that derails all their hopes and dreams. When tragedy strikes and Jace returns 10 years later, will Faith and Jace be able to move on from the past and the ghosts that still haunt them?

I loved the slow burn tension between these two. The build up was delicious and they had amazing chemistry. I do wish that Faith would have been less naive and aware of what was happening in her life, but I understand that her belief in people and humanity was what Jace loved most about her. The Beauty and the Beast parallels were a fun addition as well and Jace's interactions with Bailey were adorable. Things wrapped up very quickly at the end and I'm not sure all the pieces were tied up as well as they could have been, but overall this was an enjoyable read and the epilogue left my heart feeling full.

OK, what can I say? Uhm.....
I loved Jace. A lot. And I loved the little girl - especially the scenes they had together. So adorable. And I really liked the story and the sparks and the love and the past and the present.
It was a bit too obvious who the bad guy was from the first time we met him. But pffft. It was still very suspensy. But that's where we have my first problem. The suspense.
Does it say anywhere that this is a romantic suspense thingy? Nope. I expected a sweet second-chance love story. Maybe a little heartbreaking. But nothing like this. Suspense, mystery, dead people, bad people, secrets, and lots more. I liked it all. But the blurb should've been a bit different.
And the other thing I hated about the book. ... Madame Jackson's writing. It bothered me in the first Bleeding Stars book and it still bothers me now - but I will still keep reading her books, because I like the stories and the heroes! BUT THE WRITING! UGH! That weird poetic writing of hers. I just hate it. Many readers will love it. Think it's something special, out of the ordinary. But for me it just completely stops my reading flow. This book took me 4 times as long to read as any other book, just because it was written so weirdly. Too many one-word or two-word lines. And the weird I-Love-You talks - what they say to each other. Ugh. And it was too long in general....but I could live with that. But the writing is just not my thing.

OK - that's all. Don't listen to my weird ramblings - I really loved Jace and the story!
It was sparky, sexy, adorable, suspensy. ... and I can't wait to read the 2nd book in the series!

I'm a fan of A.L. Jackson and for sure it has it's reasons. The woman knows how to trap us in a story, make us fall madly in love with the characters, finish reading with a smile on our face and exploding with love. MORE OF YOU is a book that has drama, second chance romance and even a little suspense to get people to stuck to the pages until they finally know what happened.

Even with everything going against, Jace and Faith fell in love still when they were teenagers. However, out of nowhere Jace decides to break up and leave. Years later, when a fatality falls on Faith's life, Jace sees no alternative but to return and help her overcome. Faith is receiving threats without knowing the reason and the return of Jace can bring answers that she could not even imagine.

Both Faith and Jace are characters easy to love, despite their resistance we can read between the lines that they still love each other. And I love authors who can make us believe in the love of the characters. I found the story credible, and I was sad and only hoped to be all right.

The story follows in a pace of drama with a little suspense and the author plays unexpected things more to the end of the story that made me almost pull my hair out of tension. MORE OF YOU is another wonderful book by this author that makes us want a real love like this. I highly recommend it.

Entretanto, do nada Jace decide terminar e partir.

Recomendo demais.

More of You is the first book in A.L. Jackson’s brand-new Confessions of the Heart series, and what a way to start it out! This second chance romance was a masterpiece of complexity – layered with emotional unrest, disturbing and mysterious threats, and a selfless love that endures the toughest of challenges.

The characters and storyline blend together perfectly, and everything we’ve come to love from the author’s writing is top-notch and enraptures the reader from start to finish. Jace and Faith are intricate characters, both exuding broken hearts and even more broken souls. And as they reconnect, their brokenness seems to become magnified as they’re each other’s weakness yet strength at the same time. And as much time that has passed, and their hearts have become even more battered, only time can heal their wounds and help them realize that their love is worth fighting for.

If you haven’t met this author’s magnificent books yet, there’s no better time than to start now with More of You. This beautiful, heartfelt, and complicated love story is a slow burn of tension and magnetic chemistry that will thoroughly captivate you.

5 Stars!

Review by Lisa Kane

Faith is picking up the pieces of her life after she was left a widow. Her husband Joseph, was murdered. She would be totally lost if she didn't have her three-year old daughter, Bailey.

I wasn't sure I would ever recover from the way Joseph had died, from the fact that my husband had been murdered, my world rocked by grief and guilt and questions.

They didn't have the best marriage, but he was her daughter's father and her husband. She has hopes to turn the big rambling old house she is living in, into a bed and breakfast. Only money is tight and there are all kinds of ominous things going on.

Jace Jacobs is back in town because of Faith. The only girl he's ever loved, but walked away from ten years ago. The girl who believed in him when everyone else said he was bad news. The girl who married his cousin. The girl who is in danger and needs his help. But would she accept it if he offered?

"You don't get to be sorry for me, Jace. You have no idea what I've been through. What I'm goin' through. Just..go back to where you came from. Go home."
"I am home."

The only man Faith was truly in love with is standing in front of her and telling her he wants to help. He'll start by fixing up that dilapidated house she's living in. She needs help, but he's the last person she wants to help her.

Steps that needed replacin', too. Everything falling apart around me.
And I had no idea how we were goin' to survive. How we were going to make it past all of this.

He crushed her, left with no explanation and never looked back.

Faith is bogged down with guilt. She asked Joseph to run to the store that night. If she had just gone herself or not asked him to go, maybe he would still be alive.

I didn't know what was worse, her going on thinking that or me telling her the truth.

There are deep, dark secrets in this story. Jace had lived his life with regret, questioning how Faith could have married another man. He has a world of regret that he never got to explain what happened. That was taken away from him.

These two have such a fight on their hands. There are forces to contend with, forces that what retribution. There are truths begging to come to light, but is it too late, could the truth set either of them free?

Tell me you'll stay...because I don't wanna go on dreamin' without you.

There are certain books that you pick up and know you are going to love from the first few pages...this book is one of them. AL Jackson is a goddess when it comes to writing small town second-chance romances (which are my favorite) and this book was so much more than I expected. It is a touching, soul-crushing, beautifully written story about Faith & Jace. GAH these two are the perfect soulmates and their story begins with just a stolen glance. Their completely different lives fit perfectly together like puzzle pieces. Protector and nurturer. Fighter and dreamer. Light and dark. Beauty and beast. Their story will take you back to a world of innocence and first love, to a small town where everyone knows everybody's business, and remind you that life isn't always fair for those who deserve to achieve their biggest dreams and desires.

I fell for Jace, and I fell for him hard...as the high school bad boy and "troublemaker", as the protective big brother and cousin, and as the keeper of Faith's heart. Jace never wavered from who he truly was. He accepted his place in society, and in his family life. He is loyal to a fault, and it will break your heart as you uncover what he truly sacrificed and discover how much love, passion and loyalty he has for the one person he has ever truly cared about.

Sweet Faith is just that....she is the innocent, sweet and beautiful girl that Jace first meets back in high school. However, she is brave. She is strong. She takes no crap from Jace, and is a dreamer. Oh this girl is a dreamer, and she will pull you right into her magical place where she & her daughter live and envision their future.

Faith & Jace experience soul-crushing heartache; fight against the darkness in their past, and push all boundaries of their love for each other. Their story is told in a sense that you will not fully uncover the events of their tragic past and how it affects their present until the end. I could not stop turning the pages. I was invested in their lives, their hearts, their history, and a sweet little girl who consistently held Jace accountable for his promises and their possible future together as a family.

"I've gone and lost my heart." On an exhale, her fingers stroked into my hair. Softly. Coaxing me to look at her. "Funny....'cause you found mine." This line alone gave me goosebumps and started the tears!

This story will keep you on the edge of your seat - it will make you sigh and swoon. It will make you cry the sweetest and saddest of tears. It will break your heart, and then somehow put it all back together in a slow-burning tale about a beauty and her beast. This is one of my favorite reads of 2018, and I cannot wait for the next book in this series! Well done once again AL Jackson!

More of You captured my interest from the very first page and had me engrossed in the story of Faith and Jace. Their story was so much more suspenseful than I thought it would be but I loved every second of the breath-stealing mystery. Added to that there was the growing romance between them as Jace coaxed his way back into Faith's life and heart.

Both characters had me on the edge of my seat rooting them on to get back together at the same time I was gripping my Kindle and trying to figure out what went wrong between them in the first place. If you know me at all then you know I'm not a mega-fan of second chance romances and they tend to make me very pick but I had no problem with this one. The past and present came together perfectly and I have to say it's one of the best second chance romances I've ever read.

Everything blended so perfectly together I couldn't help but love this story. With the suspense of Faith's unknown danger, the emotional pull between her and Jace, and the constant question of what exactly happened all those years ago when Jace left, it was just a brilliantly told story.

Although the concept was beautiful, there were some things that spoiled all my positive mood for reading this story. The characters were not completely developed, too many details and inner thoughts, the pace was very slow, the storyline was dragging and too many past and present scenes in turns.
It took me two days to finally finish it! 😤

Faith is trying to recover, to move forward from the pain of her husband's passing and to embrace life again, but the notes won't let her. Someone wants something from her and it's starting to seem like they'd do anything to get it. Then Jace arrives, the man she once desperately wanted to return, the man who turns her entire world upside down again. He offers protection though, along with comfort, understanding, and a chance at moving on. She promised herself he could never have her heart again, but he holds the key to it and to all the answers that she's been missing.

"I could feel him taking pieces of me when he dropped his forehead against min and breathed me in, his eyes squeezed tightly closed."

I read this like it was a movie script; the characters acting out the scenes in my mind, the drama gripping me in its clutches, myself perched on the edge of my seat both afraid and anxious for what was to come. A.L. Jackson takes us on a new angst-filled journey in More of You, the characters all stuck in a state of unease, with questions of what if, and who, and why running through their minds. It's a second chance romance with a hint of suspense and mystery, one of my favorite types of stories. Faith and Jace have considered themselves Beauty and the Beast since their youth, unaware just how true those titles would become as adults. Faith is trapped in her big home, in a town that currently terrifies her, left with more questions than answers. She's scared of the dark, of the truths she doesn't know, unaware that she is the light that will reveal everything. Jace is lost, he has all the money he needs, he and his brother and safe, but nothing has been the same since the day he walked away. He's handsome, broken, and desperate to protect the girl he should've never left behind. The past may be too much for them to let go of and old hurts may be impossible to fix.

"It feels too complicated. Everything's twisted and mixed in a way it never should have been."

This book starts out in an unexpected way and I wasn't sure I was reading a romance or a thriller at first. More of You is a surprising novel, filled with emotion and a lurking sense of danger that only makes you want to read faster. It's angst, but not in the way you might expect. Faith and Jace's history is beautiful and painful all at the same time, a memory for them that was filled with love and trust and now is marred by a jagged break. It's the type of wound that could be healed, but can also be made larger. Jace forces Faith to face him, to see him protecting her even if he can't promise her more yet, but she's desperate to protect the one thing he's always had, her heart. On top of all this, there's threatening notes and a murder that amps up the tension. The pace is quick, one moment we're seeing Faith and Jace driven by the lust they've always shared nd in the next we're wish the sirens of a cop car would draw closer.

"Every step brought her closer to where I was. The girl filling the air."

More of You is a stunning new release from A.L. Jackson and absolutely has me excited to see what's in store for the rest of the Confessions of the Heart series. Faith and Jace were incredible main characters, but I've got to admit I really can't wait for the secondary character's stories now. The world building and character development in A.L. Jacksons novels are unrivaled, old fans and new fans alike are going to love this book and new series.

AL Jackson is the QUEEN of book feels! Her stories are all emotive and raw. More of You fits in perfectly with what you expect from her books. Second chance love story, star crossed lovers, with danger and drama to boot!

Jace was the bad boy she knew she shouldn't love. Ah teenage love! You know it always ends with drama llama and Jace and Faith's story is no exception. Flash forward 10 years and Jace is back and Faith is still so destroyed from his actions. But, she might actually need him. Now, if you have read my reviews, you know I'm not a huge fan of the angsty, overly emotional stories. But, what I enjoyed about More of You was that it wasn't JUST the angsty emotional. I liked the thread of suspense woven into their second chance story because it provides more umph to the story.

Faith's story was difficult. She has had a crappy 10 years while Jace was gone and it was sad. My heart hurt for her and when Jace came back, I wanted to protect her-because she shouldn't have to endure more! It would just be unfair! She is certainly a heroine you not only root for, but love. Thankfully, Jace was worthy of her! Their chemistry is combustible for sure-Jackson always does a great job writing chemistry.

For fans of second chances, broken characters, and blistering chemistry, More of You by AL Jackson is a must read!

POV: dual 1st
Tears: yes
Trope: second chance

“Let me take care of you.” The words grated from my tongue.

She blinked at me. “Why did you really come here, Jace? After all this time? After all these years? What is it you want?”

You.

“I need to be here. I tri—”

The confession locked in my throat, and I swallowed hard, forcing it out between the constriction I could feel baring down on every cell in my body.

“I tried to stay away. But I couldn’t. Not knowing what’s happening. Not knowing what you’ve been through.”

Not knowing just how fucking deep Joseph had gotten. Not knowing the lengths those assholes might go to. I was getting a better and better idea of what that might be.

Protectiveness swelled.

An anger so intense I saw black curled through my muscles.

I could feel it, a wire tripping somewhere inside me, one of those pieces I’d been trying to keep contained, held back, ripped free.

No way in hell was I backing down from this. No way in hell was I walking away from her.

“I’m moving in.”

She reared back. “What?”

“You heard what I said.”

A heated anger rushed in to take over the helplessness. “Well, I thought I did . . . and what I think I just heard you say was you’re movin’ in here, and that’s not goin’ to happen.”

“You need someone here to look after you. Besides . . . there are what? Eight rooms here? You will hardly notice me, and someone needs to be here to watch over things.”

“And you think that job lands on you?” It was all a rushed horror as she pushed back her chair and stumbled to her feet.

Energy flashed.

So intense my chest tightened.

Painfully.

Protectiveness pulsing out. Filling everything.

“I think that’s exactly what it is.”

Harsh, hoarse laughter rocked from her, and she was biting at her lip like she wanted to bite back her words.

“You are the last person I want movin’ in here. I already told you, all of this is too hard. It feels too complicated. It’s hard enough you bein’ outside. You want to take up the inside, too?”

I edged closer, breathing in all that intensity.

Taking it on as my own.

Standing next to the girl felt like inhaling life.

Did she think this wasn’t going to be brutal for me, too?

My voice quieted, though it was hard as stone. “You aren’t safe here. You’re scared. You can’t deny that.”

I edged closer, and she edged back. She hit the wall behind her.

She was so close.

So damned close I wanted to take one step closer and feel all of her. What it was like to be against that skin.

Her words were so rough she could barely force them out. “Then I’ll call my daddy to come and stay.”

My fingers were back to toying with a lock of her hair, my head angled to the side. “Let me take care of you, Faith. Let me be the one.”

“Jace—”

“Please . . . let me do this for you. I’m your family, whether you like it or not.”

“This is a terrible idea,” she whispered. Like it was her last plea.

“It might be the only good one I’ve ever had.”

Goodness gracious!! That was brutal!

I dont know if this is her worst book or whats going on but man is this author descriptive. To sum it up, this book could have easily been half of it. The inner dialogue, her descriptions are just wayyyyy too much. It gets to a point where youre just like come on, we get it, get to the point. I skimmed pages upon pages. I would continue and somehow it would still be saying the same thing. The short sentences were also driving me insane. It feels like she needs to meet a quota of pages and she just rambles and rambles... rambles some more. And the thing is, she is a great author. Her stories are good. But I feel like if she condensed them, they would be better. She used to be a favorite of mine. But man, I just cant.

Also, I kinda hated the heroine. Like come on dude, if you claim you love him sooooo much, how can you hook up with his cousin, get married, have a baby AND name her what you guys said were gonna name your kids. Ughhh. Also, his POV was not beliavable at all. I felt like it was a woman’s POV. Im just rambling, but I was just over this book.

I stopped reading it many times after her constant rambling and started other books but I was like you got this, you can finish it. And I did. But it was a waste of precious reading time.

AL Jackson, I still love your work but this was a definitely not for me.

How do I even begin to put into words a review that could possibly do this book justice??? I'm not sure I can but I will definitely try because this book deserves all the love and words!! I took my time with this read because I wanted to savor every word. I was gripped from the very first page and captivated by the story with its heartpounding suspense, on the edge of your seat roller coaster ride of emotions and undying profound love. Jace and Faith's story is all-consuming and will have you smiling, laughing, crying and absolutely falling head over heels in love with little Bailey. Prepare to be left breathless from this breathtaking love story!
