From the author of Bound for Sin comes a new historical Western romance that tests life and love on the Oregon Trail.

Emma Palmer's been a lady of the night and a gambler, a thief and a blackmailer, a liar and a peddler of sin. But mostly a lady of the night. She's spent most of her life as the hard-as-nails, smart-talking 'Seline', working her way across the country to the

This is the third book in the Frontiers of the Heart series. It isn't totally necessary to have read the previous two books in order to enjoy this one. I haven't read those books ... yet. I did feel like there was some back story involved that would have made this story more rewarding and deeper had I known it, but I don't feel like I suffered too much because of my lack of knowledge about the previous stories.

Westerns. I've never felt the desire to read them at all. I did read a couple of Loui

Bound for Temptation is the third book in Tess LeSue’s Frontiers of the Heart series, and while it is about three brothers, you could start here and not feel lost. But I would advise against that, as this installment was, in my opinion, the weakest of the series. I had my reservations about Emma, formerly known as Seline in previous installments, but she really won me over in this book. I adored her character. She had been hardened by her life experiences, but ther

This was my first Western historical romance, and boy am I hooked. If (like me) you're into Regency historicals by authors like Julia Quinn, Tessa Dare, Sarah MacLean, Lisa Kleypas, and Lenora Bell, then Tess LeSue's writing is a very similar vibe to the style of those writers - just out West with pistols and cowboys instead of ballrooms and dukes. Tess LeSue is definitely a new favorite author and one that's going on my auto-buy list; she's also not only opened the door to whole new subgenre of ...more

The h was a riot ... an unapologetic liar ... who always made plans ... was unbelievable cheerful ... and had a tragic back story ...
Also, she was a prostitute, a madam who spends the better part of the book going about as a nun, albeit one who sang bawdy songs, swore and what all ...
but she had her reasons for becoming a prostitute and I think she was justified .. and she had no self pity ...
She was snarky and cheeky throughout ... loved her ...

I was surprised by how engaging and believable I found Tess LeSue’s Bound for Temptation. LeSue brought to life the characters, the friendship and the heat of travel through the California and Mexican countryside.

I do occasionally enjoy a western historical romance, but I sometimes find the romanticizing of the realities of race and gender in the West to be uncomfortable. While LeSue did fictionalize the life and times of Gold Rush California, she also integrated some difficult realities of slav

First of all, I LOVED Emma. She's an amazing female character--strong, a survivor, hilarious, and just AMAZING. She gives just as good as she gets, and her plans, well don't even get me started on all her plans.

After about 100 pages in, I could not put this book down down. I say this because this book has some tropes I don't like, BUT I am so happy I stuck it out. I loved how Emma just blazed right through the barriers with the help her strong female friends. There is just so much girl power in

I thoroughly enjoyed this historical western romance. Emma is a character I won't soon forget; plucky, funny, bold, vain, kindhearted, and quick-witted. Tom is equally memorable. The story is romantic, comedic, adventurous, and ultimately very satisfying. As soon as I finish this review, I am heading to over to add the other books in this series to my wishlist :-)
(FYI: Some pretty steamy content at times)

Bound for Temptation by Tess LeSue is the 3rd book in her western historical romance Frontiers of the Heart series. We met our heroine, Emma Palmer (Seline), in the previous book, as she was a madam in her own brothel, and knew both Luke & Matt Slater (previous book heroes). When we meet Emma, she has sold her place, having saved enough money to travel to California and live a normal life. But first she has to escape one of the rich locals, who is determined to make Seline his.

Emma and Tom both have pasts they're trying to outrun. Emma wants to outrun her history of being a madam of a house of ill repute, while Tom is running away from his feelings for his brother Luke's wife. Both end up with dangerous men on their tail and find that they have to not only help each other but find a way to trust one another in order to stay alive. And when tempting feelings start to surface, it's only a matter of time until they consider running from each other instead...

This was a great western romance !

I love his author's storytelling style and rich characters. Tom and Emma were wonderful together. Somehow they found themselves on the run together. Tom had a bounty on his head thanks to a mistaken identity and Emma was running from her past. I really loved how the author fleshed out their characters with flaws and vulnerabilities. Tom was just too sweet and Emma was a very charming and mischieveous heroine. The outrageous schemes that she came up with had me

You guys this book was stupidly amazing. In that it's stupid how amazing it is. I loved it! Blew me away. I was iffy on book two, liked book one okay, but man, I loved 100% everything about this book, from Emma and her sass and ability to take no shit while still being warm, to the way they talked about surviving sexual violence in a way that was not over the top graphic but still really powerful.

More please. Now.

I read this book for entertainment while I was sick in bed, and found it a rollicking good read. What I particularly appreciated was how the author maintained the fine and difficult balance between acknowledging the prejudices of the time, while allowing the characters to question them. The plot has many unexpected twists and turns, and you come to care for the characters and hope their lives work out. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series. ...more

Recommends it for: western historical romance lovers who don't mind a little heat
BOUND FOR TEMPTATION by Tess LeSue riles up the west as the naughty heroine disguises herself as a nun, launching one crazy plan after another.

Seline dreams of a house in San Francisco – a dream that comes closer to reality when she sells her three whorehouse saloons and becomes Emma Jane Palmer. It would be immediate gratification if it wasn’t for the pesky outlaw who insists on marrying her. That’s when her grandest plan takes root, disguised as a nun to travel safely out of that man’s reach.

Emma & Tom
another great story that took us on a long journey. What could go wrong, did. They couldn't catch a break. disguised as a nun, along with her friends, she didn't act like one. Tom didn't understand why he was feeling attracted to her and felt really bad about it. the time away gave Tom the opportunity to work out his feelings for Alex, his sister-in-law. What he thought was love turned out not to be what he thought. his feelings for Emma were different and stronger. Learning who she wa

I really loved this story I think even more than the book before this Bound for Sin. Seline has to get outta town before Hec finds her and makes her his slave so she sells her business, shaves her beautiful red hair and disguises herself so she can to to California. Well thanks to some of her friends they will be traveling in a group with Tom Slater and White Death which would of been ok but Tom has a price on his head. Well you have to love the vision of this group traveling to Mexico and tryin ...more

I have read the other two books in this series but I think there is enough information given that it could be a standalone novel. The other books are good though and I suggest that you read them.
Tom Slater is a cattleman and doesn't really have a home like his brothers do. He is planning on living in Mexico where he has run cattle before. And ever since he fell in love with one of his brother's wives before the brother did but she did not return his feelings staying at his brother’s home is kind

Bound for Temptation is the third novel in the Frontiers of the Heart series. In the previous two books we watched as each of Tom's two brothers fell in love while journeying across the country. Tom wasn't a character that we saw too much of since most of the previous books were centered around the grueling travels and the various obstacles that each couple had to overcome. Tom's story is no different. In fact, I feel like his story was the one with the biggest hurdle of all.

You see, Tom is in

"Bound For Temptation" by Tess LeSue

My Thoughts....

The author really has a good way of relaying a good story to the reader with great style and with some interesting characters. The two main characters were good with both being 'on the run' from California to Mexico. We have Tom being on the run due to having feelings for his brother's wife

4.5 stars. Really, really strong book. It manages to have a LOT of plot, with zany hilarious situations as well as some serious heavy content without it feeling melodramatic. It didn’t give me quite the emotional highs and lows of the last book (which I would recommend reading first), but I think I liked it better overall.
The relationship between the former madam with the heart of gold (her brothel is literally called “Heart of Gold”) and the staid John Wayne-esque cowboy manages to be a fresh

She's spent most of her life as the hard-as-nails, smart-talking 'Seline', working her way across the country to the goldfields of California, where she can finally ply her trade on her own terms. This book was so good, I don't think I've ever read a western romance, but I can't wait to get hold of the other two in this series. Tess has infused these characters with so much humour, love, grief, hope, despair and humility that I just loved them. There's some pretty serious topics in this book, as you would expect from these frontier times and people and she deals with them with them in a respectful and empathic way, whilst still portraying the awfulness and savagery of the times. Bound for Temptation is the third book in Tess LeSue's Frontiers of the Heart series of historicl romances. Each book tells the story of one of the Slater brothers, and book three gives Tom Slater the chance to be the hero. Tom is a bachelor who runs cattle in 1850. Seline is an ex-madame who is running away from Hec Boehm, who wants to "own" her. When Tom's friend, Deathrider, needs to hide out from bounty hunters, he talks Tom into escorting Seline and 3 women safely to Magdalena. This book is ...more

Absolutely loved this rollicking adventure full of action, romance, laughter and tears. It was THE PERFECT book for me to read ATM. The story of Emma (who we knew as the whore Selene in previous books, now retired) and Tom is a fun and entertaining read. Luke and Emma's story was a hoot and the best of the three in the series. (Could there be more--maybe Deathrider's?) I was a little worried that Emma would come across as too hard considering her past, but she had a lot of softness and understanding, too. Luke was everything wonderful; the type of hero who doesn't realize his own appeal and charm and who struggles with insecurity and inner longing to fit somewhere. I enjoyed his wrestle with desire for a nun. Too delicious! They made a great tea ...more

This series of standalone romances is fantastic. Although each book can be read easily by themselves, there is a storyline that flows though each book. Bound for Temptation is Tom and Seline/Emma's story.
I love this historical romance. The life on the trail is hard. The banter between Tom and Emma is hilarious. There's action and suspense that will keep you hooked.
The writing is fantastic. It's told in both Tom and Emma's POV. - Christina

This story centers on Emma Palmer and Tom Slater, as they race from California to Mexico trying to avoid a few posses that are chasing them and their attraction to each other.

Really enjoyed this book. Lots of fun. Especially all the crazy ideas that Emma cooks up. Tom was cranky and reading the how he endured her torturous schemes was funny. Emma was a great character. I loved her in the previous book as well. She is definitely a sassy character.

Received an ARC from First to Read.

Just when Emma thought that she had it all, everything changed. She is in disguise and on the run. Tom just wants a quiet winter at home. When he sees Emma he knows that she is going to be trouble but, she may be just what he needs. I loved this amazing story. It had a great storyline and wonderful characters. Tom and Emma were two halves of a whole, who came together to make a great couple. I would definitely recommend this amazing story.

As the third book in this series I found it to be a fantastic read and such fun! Tons of action, fast paced, humorous, likable characters, great dialogue, swoon-worthy hero, feisty heroine, the fabulous setting of the old west, interesting secondary characters, great character backstory, and so much more! If you haven’t read this series I highly recommend it. I must say this was my favorite installment so far and I can’t wait to read the next book!

Book 3 in this series and introducing Tom Slater the third Slater brother. And he meets trouble on the trail. Emma Palmer, lady of the night is forced to run for her life and sanity as she is being stalked. She concocts a crazy plan and heads off in disguise to start life anew and runs into Tom, who thinks his heart and mind have landed him in bedlam. Another funny, saucy romp by Tess and I loved it. Tom has heavenly trouble and temptation in spades. ***** Great Read
