Some grudges live forever, and the worst enemies are the ones you didn't know you had. Alpha empaths are dying, executed by an assassin who leaves no psychic trace. Zara Itani derides the mystery as sloppy investigation until Danyael is injured by the assassin's bullet. If he died, his empathic death throes would have driven everyone within ten miles to suicide. The only solution is to imprison Danyael beyond the reach of assassins, damning him to physical solitude and emotional isolation. Zara, however, bets on her ability to use Danyael as bait to draw out the murderer. Kill the assassin, end the threat, right? But nothing is ever easy in a world transformed by the Genetic Revolution. Sins of the past transcend decades and centuries to coalesce into a threat no one can contain. A vigilante driven by hate demands absolute vengeance-the suicide of millions of innocent people-and it will begin with Danyael's death.

Jade Kerrion, an award-winning author, got her start in fan fiction. She developed a loyal reader base with her fan fiction series based on the MMORPG Guild Wars. She was accused of keeping her readers up at night, distracting them from work, housework, homework, and (far worse), from actually playing Guild Wars.

And then she wondered why just screw up the time management skills of gamers? Why not aspire to screw everyone else up too? So here she is, writing books that aspire to keep you from doing anything else useful with your time.

She lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with her wonderfully supportive husband and her two young sons, Saint and Angel, (no, those aren't their real names, but they are like saints and angels, except when they're not.)

Case Files Book 5 can be read alone. But, reading the Double Helix series will provide more depth to the characters and story and provide background to the genetic revolution, empaths, telepaths, clones and humans in this not so distant future.

Someone wants to kill Danyael. Historical events and further genetic experiments has led to an assassin that is a ghost to telepaths and empaths. Two alpha empaths have already been killed and Danyael is next on the list.

Zara's solution is to use Danyael as bait and she takes him to Aman Sveti Stefan in Montenegro. Zara prefers to shoot to kill but Danyael wants to know why. Learning the answer to that leads him to a master manipulator and an historical empath death where the specifics have been buried. Danyael already struggling with his past actions is seeking answers to his own moral dilemnas. The search for the perpetrators and the Sicarius agents takes us on a mideast tour to include Jeruselum, Masada (the source of the Sicarus clones), and the Adriatic Sea eventually landing us in Japan.

Added to the who and the why is Danyael and Zara and their strange relationship. Two people in love with a history that leaves Danyael believing he has no chance and Zara trying to make up for past mistakes by protecting him. An empathic healer and doctor, as well as the ability to kill if he drops his shield vs. The master assassin, who believes shooting to kill is the best approach. Her fear he will never trust her vs. his fear that he will accidentally kill her. She has built up her defenses through exposure and being certain in her belief that he will not hurt her. Zara is exotic but not traditionally beautiful. Her emotions, never shielded, appear in bright varied colors creating a special beauty to an alpha empath.

The Sicarius assassin Maya believes suicide means her soul is destroyed. That part of Danyaels gift that kills does so through sharing his pain and grief so that others commit suicide. He fears in doing what was needed to protect those he loves and the greater good has caused others to lose their soul and contemplates that he should be locked away. Yet, he must find and stop the alpha defense empath seeking revenge from killing himself and therefore millions in Tokyo, as death drops the shields releasing emotions.

Not only sci-fi, it is a mystery, a whirlwind tour of exotic locations, a history lesson, an urban thriller, and a discordant romance.

Another well-written, well-edited 5-star read.

The author, having learned of my disabilities affecting my purchasing power, kindly offered me Sicarus Soul. She indicated a review was not requested understanding the limitations imposed by my bilateral neuropathy and recent eye surgery. It was my choice to write a review.

Sicarious Soul is an incredible book written by Jade Kerrion. It fits perfectly into the series and is very well written. The author comes up with a captivating plot that draws you in from the very first moment. If you have read all the other books, which I now have, you will see little "Easter eggs" that the author planted throughout, so clearly she has been planning this very well in advance! I found this book takes the series to the next level and there really is not a single boring moment. The pace is steady and there is always something going on, so be ready for a serious page turner!

I can't say it often enough, but I am a true fan of Danyael and the more I read about him the more I like him. In every book you find out more about him and he becomes even more amazing. This book actually falls somewhere in-between the double helix collection but I don't think it really mattered reading them out of order.

I am a huge fan of the series and an even bigger fan of Danyael, and even Zara has grown a lot in my book, ever since I have finished reading all the books! I for one am excited to see what the author will come up with next and it can not be soon enough!

When I first saw the synopsis for Sicarius Soul. I was surprised. Here was a whole series I didn't know about and it sounded great. Amazon said I already owned several and a quick look into my reading queue and I found the earlier books. I immediately moved them to the head of the list and I was not wrong to do so. I quickly read - Miriya, then Perfection Unleashed (Double Helix #1), Perfect Betrayal (Double Helix #2), Perfect Weapon (Double Helix #3), Perfection Challenged (Double Helix #4) and then Sicarius Soul.

An incredible world Jade built with diverse interesting characters, all with a different challenge, and yet all intertwined. I definitely read way into the night on every one of these stories. The great news is that there are several more stories in this world for me to read.

I was given a copy to review, but I would have bought one, as I love this series. Fast paced, great descriptions and characters you can really relate too, even though they have special skills or powers. Really gripping stuff. Highly recommended.
