Rags, a rustler from now demolished settlement of Rondo, has found herself in the worst place in all of The Kingdom, the Threshing Floor. Here, she is a prisoner of the ruler, Hyperion. One false move means death. However, Rags cannot give up who she is, even in dire circumstances. She continues to save those worse off or weaker than her, she attacks those who look to hurt others and continues to live by the code of the rustlers.

Garden of Ashes picks up immediately where The Bone Roses leaves off. The pacing for this book is unreal. I found myself losing track of time and reading it in huge chunks. The story is actually reminiscent of a western/steampunk version of The Hunger Games, and I love it!

Her companion is Colton and somewhere on the train is Nigel. Everyone else who survived is back in Rondo. More of a concentration camp than a prison camp, she ends up in The Threshing Floor under the vigilance and secret protection of Oreson. The treatment of not only prisoners but also the slaves here is brutal and harrowing to s

This books is love and filled with thrill , you can actually feel you hair behind neck rises while you read this beautiful book and the story is awesome how a female protagonist who is a rebel by nature got caught by kingdom corps and how they treat rebels and torture them, its also about big egos that involves in the drama do well that make this book as excellent and most importantly the fight over protagonist did for her country , family and the fellow prisoners and her mule is the best emotio

I loved this continuation from The Bone Roses. It picks up where the first book left off, jumping right back into the story with no need for backfilling time. The character development continues amazingly and you learn so much more about who Henny & Colton really are in this one. Without any spoilers, I can't wait to see how their relationships with Rags develop!

Not one to shy away from the darker side of stories for the older young adult audience, her works often explore impossible odds and dire futures, falling into a fusion of steampunk, epic fantasy, time t
