I read the word cowboy and thought yes sign me up! One Tough Cowboy is actually about the town sheriff. It’s set in Deerhaven, California. Hunters family run the well-known Steele Spur Ranch, but Hunter’s career is in the police force. In the past eight month, 3 suspicious deaths have occurred and the most resent brings an old friend back to town.

Samantha moved to Detroit with her family. She also joined the police force, but is used to the busy city. When her Aunt dies she finds herself back i

Good first book. Lots of chemistry and smokin' up the sheets between Samantha and Hunter. Plus there were bad guys to catch although that part was a little confusing and there was just too much stuff going on with too many people. Then the ending was just meh, even the epilogue wasn't much.

I had so many issues with this book.

This first is, this takes place in California, albeit a small town, but the vernacular didn't match how Californians talk or think. Many Southern culture ways kept popping up (e.g. calling someone sugar (when you're not a grandma), referencing Yankees (and not the baseball team)). California played a small role in the Civil War and it was for the Union (it was a free state), so I didn’t get why Hunter kept calling Samantha a Yankee or making it sound like the

Having read and enjoyed many books by Lora Leigh, I was eager to see she had a new book being released. And again having read many of her books, I expected there to be lots of sex in the story, which I normally have no problem with. However, I hate when an author writing a romantic suspense novel puts too much sex into a story. For instance, when the sheriff who is former Special Forces is on a stakeout looking for some really bad guys, that's probably not the best time to insert a sex scene. Es ...more

Samantha and Hunter are likeable characters that know each other since they were kids and when reconnecting as adults find out their secret teen infatuation turned into a mature sexual attraction.
Although I liked the characters, their past history and the tenderness between them, I really didn’t enjoy this story that much, because it soon became more about descriptive and endless sex, parts I’ve found totally un

This is not a Lora Leigh book. It can't be. I have read almost every one of LL's logic-defying, alpha-defining, smutastic books and this comes nowhere near her trademark small town filled with lots of paranoid yet hot SEALs prowling around to protect their sassy virginal heroines with their alpha badassery and inexplicable sexual ESP. Also, trigger warning for a truly jarring sexual assault scene (see more below).

Nope, there's a weary divorced sheriff (I guess "One Tough Sheriff" wasn't a good

Who knew a little town like Deerhaven, CA could be such a hotbed of intrigue and trouble? One Tough Cowboy is one wild ride of a book – and I can’t tell you much about the story as I’m afraid I’d give you spoilers…and it’s so much more fun if you read all about it yourself. Seriously, right from the very beginning of the story, we find out about three deaths: the mayor’s wife, the former sheriff, and a longtime friend of theirs.

One Tough Cowboy is a story about Samantha Ryder (call her Sam or Sa

I went into this novel blindly...I did not read the blurb and I haven't read anything by either of the coauthors before. That said I really enjoyed it but was a bit surprised by the book.

Given the title, I expected a typical cowboy romance. While Hunter does live on a ranch, that's about all there is to the cowboy aspect. The setting is a rural community but Hunter being a sheriff and the plot having nothing to do with ranching, there isn't anything to really say cowboy romance about it. The he

I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I’m a long time Lora Leigh fan so I was looking forward to her latest book, One Tough Cowboy.

It was just an okay read for me. Given the title, I was expecting something more in the cowboy realm. Hunter is a small town sherriff who was formerly in the military. He does say “ya’ll” and “sugar” a lot and there’s a casual mention that he lives on ranch so I guess that makes him a cowboy? Otherwise the cowboy aspect

I was very excited about reading this book. The storyline was good, but there wasn’t much of it. There could have been so much more to the story. Instead it was mostly sex scenes. I know a lot of people that would love that. I, however prefer more storyline. Also, it didn’t flow smoothly. I could really tell when the authors switched up the writing. Lots of people will love this book, unfortunately it was’nt for me and that’s okay. Everyone doesn’t like every book they read. I received an advanc ...more

I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

On one hand, I want more. I want to know Jacob's story. On the other hand, this book seemed too driven by sex. It seemed like the main characters just dropped their pants at any opportunity, even when the timing didn't seem the best.

Not a bad story. Quick moving. Good twists.

One Tough Cowboy could have been a very good story as trouble has come to a small California country town. There’s corruption within the town along with illegal activity and terrorist cells in the surrounding mountain. Unfortunately, I didn’t connect much with the characters. The bulk of story is sex scenes and not much storyline. If you are looking for scorching read, this could interest you. For me, it wasn’t what I was expecting and was a bit disappointed.

One Tough Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick. I've read Ms. Leigh"s Elite Ops series and decided to give this a try. I have to say I tried to like this book more than 4 stars worth but I couldn't with this story and am disappointed in saying I didn't. But I do give it 3.6 stars for trying to make

I don't know how to review this book. This book had great potential. The plot of the tracking down the murders in the town really had me engaged. The romance between Samantha and Hunter had me engaged. But....somehow the two together didn't work, and the book got bogged down with sex. Either this book needs to be an erotic romance (which by the way this has a LOT of sex in it, so much so I started to skip the sex parts) or a more contemporary romance with more story and less sex.

Could have been so much better…

One Tough Cowboy is the first book I have read by this author and it was just an ok read for me. I enjoyed the characters, the plot was interesting – murder, conspiracy, deceit, cover-up, and romance but the overall storyline was just too involved, too much going on all at once with too many people and it was a little confusing, while other parts seemed lacking, with unanswered questions. Samantha and Hunter were both likeable characters, I enjoyed the evolvement o
A suspenseful book filled with a whole lot sexiness. And I’m not exaggerating. I enjoy sexy times as much as the next girl but these people couldn’t keep their hands off each other. It felt a little over the top at times.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC copy to read and give my honest opinion.

This was a fun read as we meet Sam and Hunter. Book starts out with a death and it seems foul play has occurred according to the Sheriff. A childhood friend comes back to town and old feelings with new ones surface.

What did I like? The chemistry between the two main characters was panty combustible and hot! The story is a small town cop vs corruption and scandal. Several characters look like they're goin

This book started off so well, I do not read a lot of mysteries but I was intrigued by all of the suspicious deaths in the small town from the get go. I liked the idea of two characters with a history being reunited to help figure out what was happening. That might be about all I liked. The central mystery to the story eventually goes off the rails with the kinds of coincidences that I cannot just roll with. I liked book and it kept you entertained from the beginning. So we meet Hunter who is at a murder scene even though the coroner is saying that the person accidentally overdosed, he knew that that was a lie since his uncle was killed not long ago and another one of their friends. Samantha comes back to Deerhaven since her beloved aunt was murdered, she doesn't care that they said it was an overdose since her aunt barely took medication. Sam had always had a crush on Hunter but after the last time ...more

I was looking forward to a new series from Lora Leigh. This was a pretty decent start. I did like both Samantha and Hunter. I liked that they had history, not romantic, though. The one problem that I had was that there seemed to be more emphasis on having a ton of sex during parts of the story that it really wasn’t appropriate (ex. during a stake out). It’s kind of hard to see the characters as professional and committed law enforcement when all they seemed to think about was sex. Now, don’t get ...more

I was happy Lora Leigh had a new series and for it to be centered around a cowboy just added to it. I’ve read many books by this author and have never been disappointed by her stories. This is a excellent start for the new series.

This is a very sexy story that kept me hooked trying to find out what was going on with the numerous “accidents”. The characters are so well described and so different as they added layers to the story. The story flow is solid. There are entertaining side issues like H

One Tough Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Veronica Shadwick is the first book in the Moving Violations series and can easily be read as standalone.

Meet Hunter Steele, he's the towns Sheriff and caught up in a murder case. Three deaths in three months seems like a pattern.
Samantha is back in Deerhaven because her aunt died and she becomes tangled up in a web of secrets, lies and danger.
And to top it off, her chemistry with the towns Sheriff is through the roof high.

Sam's aunt was one of those deaths and she comes to town to investigate and took a leave from her job as a cop in Detroit. This was highly forgettable. I actually thought there was gonna be a bit of mystery wrapped up in an engaging action filled plot sprinkled with lies and betrayal but sadly the joke's on me because I got very little of that and more of Hunter and Samantha falling into bed in seconds flat and half heartedly working on the reasons Samantha stuck around in her old home town in the first place...

I was bored.

Lora Leigh lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky, often found absorbing the ambience of this peaceful setting. She dreams in bright, vivid images of the characters intent on taking over her writing life, and fights a constant battle to put them on the hard drive of her computer before they can disappear as fast as they appeared. Lora’s family, and her writing life co-exist, if not in harmony, in ...more
