Lots of excitement keeps the pace moving steadily along in the third book of the Lobster Shack Mysteries. Protagonist Allie Larkin’s ankle has mended and she’s ready to dance ballet once more. It’s Halloween in Mystic Bay, CT where Allie’s Aunt Gully’s popular lobster shack is located. It appears some local fraternity pranks are behind the suspicious vandalism going on in town, however; a gruesome murder takes place on Halloween in a spooky graveyard which spikes a local legend that one of the d ...more

I loved this latest addition to the Lobster Shack series! It definitely made a great Halloween tale with the spooky scene in the cemetery where one of the local college students was found murdered--along with a stolen lobster--and all the talk of the ancestors of the founding family being ghosts or vampires. There were a lot of secrets and no shortage of suspects either. I wasn't sure who did it, so it was just a fun ride to see how it all played out.

Aunt Gully was at top speed in this book. Sh

This cozy mystery was a fun read. Although I hadn't read the prior two books in the series, it was easy to jump right into the story and get to know the characters. It was well-paced and never a dull moment. There were a lot of surprising connections between the various characters--the patriarch of the town's founding family with a woman known to practice witchcraft, for example. Add in an almost record-breaking size lobster known as Lobzilla found at a murder scene and you have a very intriguin ...more
Drawn and Buttered is a great addition to the Lobster Shack mystery series. Allie, a ballerina, is on leave while her ankle is healing from two breaks, is helping her Aunt Gully at her restaurant, the Lazy Mermaid, in Mystic Bay. She is also pretty good at solving murder mysteries with help from her best friend, Verity. Verity owns a vintage clothing store but loves to help her sleuthing friend. This mystery involves a missing giant, three foot size lobster, better known as Lobzilla and the deat ...more

DRAWN AND BUTTERED is the third book in the Lobster Shack Mystery Series featuring Allie, who narrates the story and supporting cast including Aunt Gully, Lobster Shack owner and a host of friends and shack employees who populate the book. The characters are all well drawn, and range from the eccentric and lovable Aunt Gully to Lorel, short for Lorelei, Allie’s sister who is a hard charging business woman intent on making more money for Aunt Gully and family. Allie and Lorel are almost polar opp ...more

It’s a couple of days before Halloween, and things have slowed down some at the Lazy Mermaid Lobster Shack. The summer tourist families are long gone, but some tourists are still in the area looking at the fall colors. However, there’s still plenty of excite going on, like the discovery of a giant lobster. Quickly dubbed Lobzilla by the community, he’s almost big enough to beat the world record. However, the morning after he’s found, he’s vanished.

If that were all Allie Larkin had on her mind, i

Author Shari Randall delights again in this third installment of her Lobster Shack Mysteries.

I just put down my copy of DRAWN AND BUTTERED with a contented sigh. Spending time at the Lazy Mermaid Lobster Shack is always a pleasure. This trip was no exception. With more than one mystery to solve, series lead Allie has her hands full, and for us readers, that means an exciting tale of mystery filled enjoyment.

Drawn and Buttered by Shari Randall is the 3rd book in A Lobster Shack Mystery, and it is great. Allie Larkin is a ballerina who is recovering from a foot injury by working at her Aunt Gully's lobster shack, Lazy Mermaid. One day a fisher-women catches a large lobster that the town names Lobzilla. When Lobzilla is stolen from the Lazy Mermaid, where they were keeping it safe until the college could collect it, the mystery begins. That is only one story line in this book, Allie can return to danc ...more

Fun cozy mystery series set in Mystic River. I loved the giant lobster they found named Lobzilla, and didn't figure out who stole him and why until the very end. I felt for the ballerina that couldn't go on pointe, and how she really wanted to get back in shape. I will definitely read more by this author and this series. ...more

Drawn and Buttered is the third installment in the A Lobster Shack Mystery series set in the seaside community of Mystic Bay and featuring ballet dancer, Allie Larkin. Allie still hasn't been given the all clear to return to dancing full time after breaking her ankle so she's passing the time helping out at her Aunt Gully's Lazy Mermaid Lobster Shack, being a teaching assistant to her dance mentor Madame Monachova, and practicing for a small role designed just for her in her dance troupe's upcom ...more

I missed the celebrations of the 4th of July in this cozy series, but have returned for the next book, now October and approaching Halloween, Allie is still in Mystic Cove, not having been given the ‘all clear’ on her ankle, allowing her to return to the stage. After several months of being up to their eyeballs in work, Allie and her Aunt Gully are taking the time to breathe and finding that, until they end up with Lobzilla (a giant lobs

What a poser!

Drawn and Buttered by Shari Randall is a total twist on the traditional/cozy mystery.
The characters keep getting developed. I really like Aunt Gully’s humor and attitude. I’m happy Lorel isn’t in the story too often, because I can’t seem to warm to her. I am hoping more Bronwyn in the future, because I like her (whether she becomes a cop or not!). I feel like these characters will continue to grow, and we will love them or hate them. And I like the feelings that are portrayed by all

Overall quite charming and engrossing book, the 3rd in the lobster shack series -- rounding up from 4 and one half stars. While this was my first one, I was captivated from the beginning and did not feel at all adrift at missing the first two books. Allegra (Allie) Larkin, a promising ballerina, is home with her Aunt Gully helping out at the Lazy Mermaid Lobster Shack while recuperating from a devastating broken ankle. As Halloween is only a couple of days away, the tourist season and business a ...more

I really enjoyed this book! It was funny, entertaining, and unique. The characters are multi-dimensional and you just can’t help but root for Allie and Aunt Gully to succeed in whatever they put their mind to. Many times in cozy mysteries the protagonist is returning home after some part of their life has come to a close. I like that Allie is home because of an injury (she is a ballerina and cannot dance at the moment), but that part of her life is still a part of the book and that she can still ...more

A new author for me and the third book of the Lazy Mermaid Shack is a light fun read. I had trouble making friends with characters. It is probably best to read in order. I will read this author again. Allie Larkin is a well-known ballerina who fell and broke her leg and has come to Aunt Gully to help her until her broken leg heals. Her sister is an editor of a social media company who plans to be the best media company. Allie's leg is almost healed will she be able to dance again?

Drawn and Buttered is Book 3 in the Lobster Shack Mystery Series. While this is part of a series, it does stand alone and one would not be confused if you haven't read the first two books in this fantastic series.
I love this book that is set in New England. As someone who has spent her life in New England, the author does a fantastic job of describing everything from the scenery to the local food. This was a great mystery with lots of twits. The characters are fun and relatable. I am so looking

Drawn and Buttered is the third book in Shari Randall’s Lobster Shack Mystery series. The mystery is well plotted, and the characters are well developed. This quick read is steadily paced with lots of twists in the creative plot to keep readers engaged.

The Lazy Mermaid’s business has slowed to a snail’s pace—until a monster lobster claws his way onto the scene…

With the high season behind them, ballerina on-the-mend Allie Larkin and Aunt Gully are finally lying low. But then an unexpected guest arrives at the lobster shack: a crustacean so huge he’s dubbed Lobzilla around Mystic Bay and on social media. Soon, with everyone showing up for a peek in their tank, Allie and Aunt Gully have more on their plate than they can handle.

AMAZING!! Shari Randall, you did it again, and better!! I love this series. I feel like I am part of community of Mystic Bay when I read these books. The core characters are amazing and every new character introduced is developed extremely well.

Here in book 3, its Halloween. Its Halloween in New England. Old traditions and superstitions are brought to light in reenactments. I was actually familiar with the superstition or folk lore surrounding the Parish Family ancestry. So when a body is found

I am so happy that I found this series! I love the lobster theme and Aunt Gully is one of my favorite cozy characters.

This book begins with a huge lobster found in the sea (almost a record-breaker); dubbed Lobzilla, he is safely stored, then stolen. The hunt begins for Lobzilla and when he is found, he is not found alone - he is found next to a dead college student.

Allie is on the case, unofficially of course, to find out what happened to the college student since her beloved dance teacher is

What pulled me into this story in the beginning was the enticing descriptions but what kept me reading was a plot that had numerous angles. From a kidnapped lobster and twisted history to stolen research and a despicable dancer there is a lot to keep a person guessing.

This is the third book in A Lobster Shack Mystery series but I had not read the first two and had no trouble following the story. Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

This book was a pretty perfect example of what a cozy mystery should be: a cute, coastal setting, an unsettling mystery and a touch of ghostly presence combined to create a story that you will just breeze right through.

This is the third book in the Lobster Shack series, but can be read as a standalone. But don’t read it if you’re hungry. Cause you will be even hungrier when you read this.

This is a great series but, after reading each of the three books (so far) I have wanted lobster rolls every single time. One of these days.....In any case, it was wonderful to spend more time with Allie and her Aunt Gully and their friends. This time it's Halloween and the summer crowds are gone, replaced by the Leaf Peepers so business is still a rush at Aunt Gully's lobster shack, the Lazy Mermaid. Allie continues to lend a hand while she is recovering from a broken ankle. She is a ballerina ...more

While Summer is over, things are just starting to heat up in Mystic Bay this Fall. A massive lobster is caught and then stolen, Allie’s ankle is healing, a special dance was choreographed for her in the Nut Cracker, a big company is courting Aunt Gully for her chowder recipe, and Allie and Verity are invited to THE Halloween party of the year.

While things are looking up for Allie, things aren’t looking so good for one of the college frat boys, Max. On Halloween night in the small cemetery where
