Crepe Paper Flowers: The Beginner's Guide to Making and Arranging Beautiful Blooms

Rate this book
Crepe paper is the best material for creating paper flowers, especially for beginners. It's forgiving and malleable--easy to cut, bend, curl, and shape into peony petals, daffodil trumpets, chrysanthemum blooms, and more. And if you have a Cricut Maker, you can easily cut out the shapes from templates you download for free on Lia Griffith's website using a code. Then, follow instructions for crafting the flowers to arrange and display in vases and pots and as bouquets and wreaths.

I bought this book for inspiration and I was definitely inspired! Beautiful photos, access to the author's patterns, and a comprehensive overview of supplies (and where to find them), an excellent guide to the various crepe papers needed to make the flowers in this book (hint: the author also sells crepe paper), and detailed instructions on how to make each flower with gorgeous color photos of each step. Overall I learned more tricks and tips on making paper flowers, which is the reason I was looking for a book for inspiration - and this book did both flawlessly.

Such a sad book! Something close enough to the idea of paint by numbers or connect the dots: copy the template, cut your paper and be original? Back in the 19th century when this trade was taking shape it was both original and cutting edge: the new papers and colors were very new. The trade offered plus value to the consumer, as flower conserving technology was way behind. Today it's meh if everything goes well, otherwise it can become disgusting.

This book has some very nice basics for paper flowers creation. But: 1) there is no information on leaves, so the ones which are featured in the pictures are the most elementary leaves you could get, leaving the flowers in pictures looking very elementary-school-like; 2) After starting reading Kate Alarcon’s book first, I just can’t stand all the hot glue everywhere - looks too heavy for the delicate flowers.

I loved this book so much, I had to buy myself a copy (originally borrowed from my local library). There are so many beautiful flowers, and I can't wait to try them out

The $2.99 version works great!

I was worried from another review that I had wasted my money but all the lovely pictures are there and all the links work. Oh the pictures are beyond lovely, they are crisp, clear, detailed and a work of art. The author has done a fantastic job explaining the different types of crepe paper, where they are made, how to use each and where to buy them. She lets you know what is in her toolbox and since some items are pricy, what is the bare minimum you will need to get started. The great thing is that if you do a bit of quilting or sewing you will probably have most of the items needed. She mentioned using card stock to make the master pattern for the flowers but I would use the plastic sheets that you use to make quilt patterns. These would last a lot longer. I have never made crepe paper flowers but reading this book made me feel that I too, with practice, could be making wonderful flowers soon.

Great tutorial book

This is a great book for beginners. I had no previous experience with paper flowers and was able to complete every example with success. The details were easy to follow and the photos are intuitive.

It's a beautiful book.

I say down and read this book in one sitting. I haven't made any of the flowers yet but I down loaded the pdf. I can't wait to get started. I'm so glad you get the svg files too. Great value.
