Emily March is one of my very favorite authors but I wasn't sure of this book after the first chapter. However, I never give up after just an introduction. I was right, this story just kept getting better and better. The bond that was created between these three women, who were each struggling with their own issues and fears, became so strong. I really enjoyed the friendship that they forged, even through some difficult times.

Man this was such a great book. I really loved the characters and how much growth they showed during the entire book. I also loved the charm and sisterhood. I felt like I could fit right in with Holly, Grace, and Maggie. I think all three women had stories that gave great lessons. I also loved how the women brought out fun in each other.

Sweet story of cross-generation friendships among women. While some of the actions of the characters seem unrealistically extreme, the narrative still draws the reader in and leads one to introspection about illness, tragedy and the fear of loss.

Satisfying

Excellent, as always from Emily March. The knowledge she included was very informative, and it very well might provide comfort and peace for those that identify with the characters and their situations.

Love, Friendship, and Marriage

I love this book! Season of Sisters tells the story of a friendship between three women—20-something teacher Holly; 40-something wealthy wife Maggie; and 60-something retiree Grace—after their unlikely meeting in the ladies room at a Fort Worth, Texas, hotel. Drawn into each other’s dramas, the women offer support that only one woman can give another.

Holly’s mother died at age 32 when Holly was just entering adolescence. A “Life List” started on the day of her mother’s funeral includes 32 goals she hopes to accomplish in her life, and that list starts off the book. (Most of the goals aren’t serious and include “catch a fish that weighs more than five pounds.”)
Maggie and her husband of 25 years have drifted apart, and they’re now separated. She struggles to come to terms with how that happened. Maggie is the “wild child” of the threesome, and she’s hilarious! And Grace’s breast cancer has recurred, this time worse than before. Her husband’s constant worrying over her makes it hard for her to keep the positive attitude she needs to enjoy every day she has left. Though not at all alike on the surface, underneath all three women want the same thing—the love of their man. But how do they achieve that goal?

In addition to the delightful and heart-warming plot, the book’s setting in North Texas contributed to my enjoyment. The characters visited places that were familiar to me from growing up in the area, including Pottsboro, TX, and Lake Texoma where my parents had a lake cabin. Through Dawson’s lovely descriptions, I visited those places again in my imagination and felt right at home. The Southern expressions used by the women added reality to the dialogue. Yes, people really do say “y’all” and substitute “spit” for a cussword that’s just one letter different! Dawson’s sense of humor is threaded throughout.

Dawson also weaves interesting information about testing for BCRA gene mutations into the book’s plot, and I learned some things I didn’t know, which is always a joy to me.

I recommend this tale of friendship, marriage, and love for anyone who enjoys a feel-good story.

This book tells the story of three generators of woman who meet during a charity fundraiser for breast cancer and instantly bond.

Holly Weeks, a young middle school teacher, freaks when her perfect boyfriend unexpectedly proposes. It's the last thing she expected and the last thing she wanted. He doesn't understand her confusion and is deeply hurt. Maggie & Grace are in the ladies room where Holly runs to escape and to lose her lunch after the proposal.

Maggie has problems of her own. Her husband of 25 years has become distant, her sons are grown and have left the nest and she's at a complete loss as to what to do with herself. When hubby forgets their 25th anniversary their marriage begins to drastically go downhill and they separate. Hubby is a complete jerk and one of the most unsympathetic characters in the book (if you ask me).

Grace has the perfect life. A mature woman with a loving husband, family and close friends, she appears to have it all but she's been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and cherishes every moment of her life.

These three start getting deeply involved in each others ups and downs. It's an emotional book~ maybe a little too much so for me right now. I still miss the humorous Geralyn Dawson books of old . . .

4.5 * - I didn't have many expectations when I started this novel, but thoroughly enjoyed it. The women, and their different ages, with their common love, support and reactions to one another and to the males in their friends lives struck a chord with me. I could both feel how each of them felt and, at the same time, I found myself annoyed and discouraged by teach of their actions. Through it all, was the trust and awareness that each of the 3 women would reach the right place. This books makes you question your own behavior and actions while guiding you to know the changes and behaviors you should and will take.

I have only read a few of Geralyn Dawson's books, but will certainly look up others. They give my plans to spend many more enjoyable hours.

This book was really good. It's about 3 women and different stages in their lives. One has breast cancer and is in Stage IV, the other's mother died of breast cancer and fears she shouldn't marry because of it and the last woman is going through trying times in her marriage. You ask what do they all have in common, well it's friendship and support! What a wonderful story!

This book is about 3 women who meet and become friends. Each woman is different, 1 is celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary, 1 is getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage and 1 is about to be proposed to. They all have something in common though...a relationship with breast cancer. It was an easy read for on the bus.

Well, Loved the other books this author has written but this one took me forever to finish. I kept puttting it down for something else to read. It reminded me of someone who takes 10 minutes to tell you a story that could be said in 1 minute!! Now one of the ladies has stage 4 breast cancer and since I also have breast cancer maybe that is why I formed my opinion.
