Once upon a time, I fell for a man. Then I met the Beast. BROOKE

But the job I came here to do is more important than my tortured past -- and everything I left behind to escape it. Now I’m a federal agent, working a case deeply rooted in the community, And his club is in the middle of an investigation I’m about to crack wide open.
We almost happened when I was younger. I was vulnerable. Innocent. Until it all got taken away from me. Since then, I’ve learned how to protect myself. How to size up danger and neutralize the threat. But Beast is an alpha male who won't take no for an answer. And my heart isn’t listening to my head.
I don't want to fall for Beast again. I can't get hurt again. But the harder I fight this attraction, the harder it becomes to resist.
BEAST
She left me and took what was left of my damn heart with her. Seeing Brooke again is something I swore I'd never do. But when she shows back up in our hometown, I can't f*cking resist. I fell in love with her for a reason. And this time, she's not f*cking running away from me.
But Brooke is putting things in danger. She’s uncovering sh*t that's hidden for a reason. My club, Lords of Carnage MC, could explode if she keeps f*cking digging.
My d*ck wants her but my mind is stubborn, forcing me to keep my distance. I knew she'd get under my skin again. I knew I wouldn't be able to resist after the first taste. I knew once my hands touched her f*cking skin I'd turn into the Beast she's so afraid of.
Except I've never followed any man's rules. Not even my own. Brooke is my f*cking property. My responsiblity. My damn woman. And I will do any-f*cking-thing to keep her safe.
BEAST is a full-length, stand-alone novel. It is also the sixth book in the Lords of Carnage MC series. This sexy alpha male romance is a second chance romance with a couple who are fated to be together. It ends with a guaranteed HEA, has no cheating and absolutely no cliffhanger. For a limited time, this version of BEAST contains another Lords of Carnage story as bonus content.
USA Today bestselling author of alpha males, feisty females, and smoking hot romance.
Small town girl in the big city. Incurable romantic. Hopeless optimist in a realist's body.
Owned by two cats.
A sucker for a bad boy with a soft center.

Beast was the sixth book in Daphne Loveling’s Lords of Carnage MC series. I loved this series before and it keeps getting better and better.
Travis “Beast” Carr was the largest patched member of the MC. He was gorgeous, totally alpha and was born and raised in their small quiet town.l, Tanner Springs, OH.
Brooke was an FBI agent assigned to investigate a tip back in her hometown, Tanner Springs, a town and a boy she ran away from the day she turned eighteen.
Beast was told with a dual POV. Beast and Brooke had history. They were childhood loves but Brooke left without a word and never looked back. Beast never fully got over the anger but he definitely never expected to see her again.
Loveling took us through the surprise reunion between Beast and Brooke unleashing Beast’s anger in full force when he was caught off guard. She then took us through the tentative steps they both took to try and avoid each other and the explosive chemistry they exuded. Simultaneously Loveling unfolded a suspenseful plot that I couldn’t get through fast enough, intrigued with each development.
All in all, it was a well written, well developed and enjoyable fast paced read. I loved both characters and was pulled in further through the secondary plot. Lords of Carnage has fast become one of my favorite series. Angel was front and center again adding even further to the anticipation of his story, so hopefully he will be next....hint, hint.
3.5 stars. I don't know how to feel about it. Normally I would read the premise and think it all is to much but I decided to listen to it anyway and it was very easy to listen to and I did enjoy the audiobook. It was a decent romance however a bit more on the obsessive kind of romance for me to be completely comfortable.
Best One Yet, I flew through this book, I loved Beast so much. He is such a laid back guy except when he is angry and then you get the Beast. Most of the time he was kinda aloof and went with the flow, but he always had his brothers back. Brooke was Travis's high school sweetheart who completely ran away and never got back into contact with him. Brooke is now a FBI agent that gets sent to back to her hometown to investigate a tip about sex trafficking. She runs into the only person she doesn't want to see Travis aka Beast. Beast can't believe his eyes and venom is seriously running through his veins when it comes to Brooke. With so much high emotion anger, you know that ripping each others clothes off isn't far behind. Brooke gets a huge break in her case thanks to Beast, but then it also implicates the Lords of Carnage. I loved this story really kept me interested and a lot of surprising Club betrayals as well as a shake up. Brooke reveals why she became an FBI agent and why she fled, so emotional and raw. I just loved Beast and all the guys they keeping getting better and better. Please for the love of the MC give Angel his book.
Another hit for Daphne Loveling. Beast fell hard years ago for a girl but that girl left town with his heart. She is now back in town, she is working but also looking for closure. Beast is the first person she will run into and from the beginning the sparks will fly Brook and Beast will end up working together to find out what is happening in Tanner Springs. The chemistry between this couple is off the charts we will see the tender side of Beast as well as his wild side. This is a shorter story that only goes to 56% but Daphne throws in Book one from Lords of Carnage Ghost. Happy Reading!!!
Girl comes back to town, only to run into boy she ran from. Boy is feeling out of sorts with world around him, he sees his old love..fireworks. They are both hiding secrets. They find out they are both on opposite sides of a problem, and are trying to work with it. They come together for the greater good and are soon in a deeper love then before, but some one is trying to pull them apart, to protect their secrets. In the end they come together and are stronger now then when they were teenagers.
Wow. This one really had me glued from the first chapter until the end. Daphne Loveling brings us an MC series filled with suspense, action, and raw emotion. Just when the Lords of Carnage MC thought they cut down human trafficking in Tanner Springs, it rears its ugly head.
FBI agent Brooke Brentano is sent to investigate a lead in the small town she left 12 years ago. She never expected to stumble right into her past. Travis Carr. He’s not the boy she left behind but now a chiseled, 6 foot 6 inch, tattooed and muscled beast of a man. Brooke’s rough childhood scarred her and she escaped the town as soon as she turned eighteen. With Travis in her life again, can Brooke trust in Beast to handle the painful truth behind why she fled town so long ago? What happened to her is so heartbreaking.
Travis Carr, aka Beast, and Brooke go way back since high school. He remembers the sad young girl he used to know, the one girl he ever felt anything for. But now she’s a Fed. It sort of scares and excites Beast at the same time. Brooke’s always been tough, but there was always something vulnerable about her. This time Beast is not going to let her go again. But he’s torn between protecting his MC and helping Brooke break wide open the case of human trafficking that extends beyond the political walls of Tanner Springs.
Beast is a great blend of MC drama, action, suspense and characters with great chemistry. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the Lords of Carnage MC series. Great job, Ms. Loveling. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Beast was known as Travis when Brooke knew him. Both of them grew up on the wrong side of the tracks as soon as she turned eighteen, Brooke left the small town of Tanner Springs without so much as a goodbye to Travis. She never looked back but often wondered about the boy she left behind. Now Beast was in the Lords of Carnage and outlaw MC. He never got over Brooke and took all that pain and hid it inside where no other woman had ever been. But, as fate would have it, Brooke is an FBI agent and assigned to a case in Tanner Springs. The one person she hopes to not run into is Travis (Beast). They have unfinished business and when they are near to one another sparks fly. This story had me on the edge of my seat, and I didn't want to put it down! The story was phenomenal, and I'm anxious for the next book; maybe one on Angel, please!
Overall, this is one of the better books in the series but still has something slightly off about it. The MC plotlines could be much more detailed and make the book a lot more interesting, but as they stand they feel a little lacking.
This book follows Beast/Travis (MC member) and Brooke (FBI agent). Beast and Brooke dated when they were teenagers until Brooke left without saying anything to Beast. Beast goes on to form a thick skin and join the local motorcycle club, and Brooke becomes an FBI agent in another town/county/state. Jump forward several years and Brooke is sent back to Tanner Springs to investigate a tip off about a sex trafficking ring, and ends up rubbing shoulders with Beast and the MC in the process. They reconnect, get back together and end up busting the sex trafficking ring at the same time. At the end of the book, Brooke quits her FBI job and opens a gym to help young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. Although I like this change of career for Brooke, it was thrown in at the end with very little explanation. It would have been the perfect chance to see Brooke team up with Eden (who was said to do something similar for girls in the previous book) or even just go into more detail about her setting it up. Instead it is a missed opportunity for the characters to team up and feels very rushed and out of left-field.
Brooke is a well put together character and she came across as an adult who has come into her own, rather than a young adult still struggling to figure out who they are in the wider world. Many of the previous heroines were written as very young adults who needed a man to achieve something which was beyond frustrating. Brooke holds her own in a serious job, and is able to recognise when men treat her as less than for her gender and deal with them accordingly. She investigates the tip off without any help or resources and when confronted with potential 'save me, I'm a damsel in distress' moments, she fights for herself and doesn't wait for a man to step in. There were a couple of physical fights and interactions where she fights off her attacker and the male hero (Beast) only intervenes after the immediate danger is gone. It would have been very easy for the author to have Beast arrive earlier in these scenes to take over the fight, and I appreciate that she didn't do this. In many respects, she is a better heroine than the previous women in this series.
We learn about Brooke's childhood through her inner monologue, and I really felt for her as bits were revealed. We learnt about the neglect and sexual abuse she faced and how it was her reason for leaving so abruptly when she turned 18. Even if people haven't experienced these exact circumstances in their own lives, I think the themes are identifiable for most women which makes it an easy way for us as readers to empathise with the character.
The romantic relationship between Brooke and Beast is one of the better romances from this series. The history they have from when they were teens makes it much easier to believe the instant-attraction and subsequent love between them.
The sex trafficking ring plotline ends up looping back around to the MC itself and explains some of the awkwardness and slightly-off-interactions with Rock (the President of the MC) from earlier books. I thought there was something dodgy about him from the way he was written since book 1 so it is nice to see this finally come to fruition, but I think more could have been done with this storyline to fill the books out more.
There are a couple of weird passages in the book told from the viewpoint of one of the girls who was captured in the trafficking ring. These are insightful and definitely add more dimension to the book, but they are just chucked in with no introduction or signposts - so I had no idea what I was reading at first. It would be good if the author marked them as their own chapter rather than just adding them at the end of an existing chapter.
The newest book in the Lords of Carnage MC (#6) is Beast by Daphne Loveling. The Lords of Carnage have found life a little too interesting recently. Ever since they pushed out the Spiders and made a deal with another club which has made some things safer for their brotherhood. Their President has been less reliable lately and the new police chief has really trying to make a stink about the criminal element in town.
Beast is all about his club. He is laid back, dependable and when angry - the Beast. Recently he has noticed a number of his brothers have found a life partner, but he knows it won’t happen with him, but still…. He has never forgot his first love.
Brooke is a Feb - an FBI agent who works out of Cleveland and has been sent to Tanner’s Spring. She was sent to investigate a sex trafficking case. The hardest part - for her it is home. A place she never wanted to EVER go back! Life was quite difficult there. She left suddenly not wanting to ever tell Travis why she had to leave. Hopefully, he left too.
So - Guess what happens - they literally run into each other again. Beast (Travis) and Brooke are on two opposite sides of the law. They are too damaged and want to keep safe within themselves. Not even close to happening! Together they end up untangling some devious people and plots, saving girls from a life of hell...but they are still on opposite sides of the law.
I think Beast may be my favorite so far of the Lords of Carnage MC series. I like how honor and caring for those who cannot take care of themselves play an important part. I like how Brooke managed to find out so much information by asking questions and didn’t depend on Beast to solve her case. Beast by Daphne Loveling is a good read.
“BEAST” HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS WAS AN AWESOME BOOK THAT I JUST FINISHED!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME AS A STANDALONE OF A NOTORIOUS MC CLUB FROM MS. DAPHNE LOVELING. Personally, I think she’s a genius! The main characters of the story are Beast and Brooke!! Well let’s say they made quite the mix! One being a biker and the other being on the other side of the world in regards to the law of Beast!!! Yes! The FBI!!!! Brooke is a tough lady! I love when the main female is a strong female but is able to drive her man wild!!! She seeks out justice one way or the other in her old stomping grounds! Of course, she steps on some toes in the process!! Where would the fun be if she didn’t. The author wrote this story in just a way that it flowed beautifully. Characters were well developed. Incredible story line. Details were amazing. Again, incredible story for a new reader of this author. Then Ms. Loveling was able to connect the story to the others in the most-subtle way that only an avid reader of Loveling’s MC stories would understand and appreciate what was going on. I’m talking about Rock. He was always a sneaky one. Poor Trudy. But these details only added to the story as a standalone!!! This book deserves nothing less than 5+++++ stars.
Well Daphne loveling did it again. This book is just as amazing as the others. Brooke and beast were young when they met and became friends and was on the way to becoming more when her stepdad touched her inappropriately and she had major trust issues but beast was showing her she could trust him and her mom dies she's placed in foster care. Her foster dad ends up raping her a month later she isalates herself from beast when she turns 18 she runs away putting herself through her ged and college. She joins fbi but because she's a woman she's seen as weak her boss ends up sending her back to Tanner springs as punishment to follow a tip into a sex trafficking ring. She ends up seeing beast then things heat up and come find out mayor chief of police and rock the president of Lord's were all involved. In the end she's doing something she loves by empowering young girls and women and her and beast are in love to grow old together and have babies. I think it's awesome so many writers are including about abuse and sex trafficking because it's so wide spread now of days. This book is a definite must read. I couldn't put it down. Keep Lord's books comming
So much happens in this book. You must read each book to fully enjoy the series. Why would you want to miss a single MC members story? They’re all charismatic and have a dangerous and fierce love for their club and families. This was a great story Beast and Brooke have a past relationship that ended suddenly and broke their young hearts. This book is a interpretation that the author created, it’s not suppose to be exactly how a FBI agent reacts in situations. This comment was for the reviewer who gave a lower rating for that reason. I really loved this couple Brooke was a sassy, strong FBI agent who came back home for an assignment. Travis ( Beast) never left and was heartbroken when she left and wasn’t welcoming to her coming back. This is my favorite book because of all of all the huge outcomes that are finalized. This is a good MC series it’s not as graphic and focuses more on their capturing their women than the club life. I recommend this book.
Wow! I loved it! What a completely opposite book to Thorns!
I really loved this book and I’m shocked! As I really thought that Beast didn’t sound that nice in the other books but he was a brilliant character. Sexy, loving, and caring.
Brooke is an F.B.I agent that is sent back to her home town unwillingly to investigate a tip about trafficking. Her boss doesn’t think there’s anything to it but he doesn’t like her and gets her out the way. Brooke is dreading going back as she left her boyfriend who she loved, (Beast) without telling him why she was going.
Beast/ Travis was in love with Brooke, and was really hurt when she left without telling him. As they grow closer, Brooke is in danger as someone doesn’t want her to investigate the trafficking.
Only one small complaint that there’s a few spelling mistakes, nothing horrendous. The sex scenes are hooooootttt!!! Wow!
I love this series. If you like friends to semi enemies to lovers and a second chance and love MC Reads that you will love this book. Beast & Brooke could of been something when they were younger but something horrific happens to Brooke and she leaves Tanner Springs and Travis( Beast) behind. Years later Brooke(FBI agent) and Beast( MC member) run into each other and both can feel the connection even if they want to deny it. When Brooke is in danger will Beast make it in time to save her? A definite must read and you don’t want too miss what will happen between Beast & Brooke. This series every book gets better and better and what happens in this book will have you saying WTF. I’m dying for Angel’s book and fingers crossed his will be next.
I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating. The twists and turns are so unexpected that they made it worth the read. A story that is an emotional rollercoaster. It is of a nice length. A well written story with nice storyline and plot. Characters well described, likeable and they develop nicely through the book. Beast is so likeable and he feels so laid back and cool. But when his high school sweetheart is in danger his is up and protective. Story flows well of the pages and keeps you on the edge. A second romance with hot chemistry, protectiveness, steam, drama, mystery, betrayal, passion and emotional ups and downs. Absolutely worth the read because this series only keeps getting better.
****I voluntarily received an Advance Review Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review**** Travis “Beast” Carr is a member of the Lord of Carnage MC in Tanner Springs where he is concerned about the law enforcement not taking the citizens serious. Agent Brooke Brentano lived in Tanner Spring and had a history with Beast twelve years ago where she left without an explanation. She returned to Tanner Spring as an FBI agent to investigate a citizen complaint regarding human trafficking. The two character met accidentally and the sparks begins to fly again. The book is well written and flowed smoothly with strong characters, sizzling action covering corruption, betrayal and intense scenes. The story roped me in from the very first page and held me captive until the end. It was exceptional exciting to see the final ending to Tanner Spring’s dangerous citizen. I would advise you to read the beginning of the series for full clarification. The author never disappoints her readers in this series.
Bogo! Two books for the price of one and even better, these are the first two books I've read by this author and I really enjoyed both of these stories! I read Beast first and wondered if I could read these out of order?Turns out you absolutely can because while some of the characters are featured in both books, the stories are completely different and there doesn't appear to be an overlapping storyline. Both of these stories took me on a journey that I didn't want to end, plus I connected so easily to the characters and their lot in life. I loved the angst in each story, appreciated the fact that the characters and storyline aren't overly dramatic but also adored both Beast and Ghost, they are definitely possessive, demanding, gentle teddy bears....FEELS. Looks like I have more books to one-click!
First, Beast's plot covers rape and sex trafficking. It's not in explicit detail, but it is a repeated topic of conversation. After a troubled past, Brooke left Tanner Springs with a fear men and the promise to never go back. She left behind the one person she cared about, Travis (Beast). She never gave him the opportunity to prove himself, and now Brooke is back in Springs to work a case. She prays she doesn't run into him, but that prayer doesn't make it far. Beast has held a torch for Brooke, even after all these years, even after she left without saying goodbye. Now she's back in town and he knows it won't end well. Old flames are rekindled, betrayals are brought to light, and corruption is exposed. Worst of all, war is coming to Tanner Springs...and some have already paid the ultimate price.
This is a excellent, captivating second chance MC romance and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The book is about a young woman (Brooke) who works for the FBI and she is sent back to her hometown to investigate a tip-off/rumor of sex trafficking, once she arrives she runs into the one man (Travis) who she really did not want to see and from here the journey begins. What you will find in this book is: drama, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, mystery, danger, corruption, betrayal, emotional feelings, lust, passion, love and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written, the pace is steady and not rushed. The characters have needs and desires according to their personality. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a intriguing book.
Man Beast is right!! We've got the next book on the LOC series from Daphne Loveling and it was worth the wait! This one is Beast's story, if you couldn't tell ;), and he certainly lives up to his name. 6'7" of pure man and wouldn't you know it but he has a soft gooey center. One that Brooke seems to bring out of him. There are some pivotal changes happening within the LOC world with this book and I cannot wait to see what happens next! Who's story will it be?? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Hero, Beast = 5/5 Heroine, Brooke = 5/5 Chemistry = 5/5 Sex = 5/5 Plot = 4/5 Mystery = 4/5 Action = 3/5 Darkness = 3/5 Humor = 2/5 POV = dual Would I recommend this book = yes Would I re-read this book = yes Would I read future books by this author = yes
Brooke left her small town as soon as she could, due to the trauma and abuse she experienced. She also left Travis, without telling him she was going or why. She pushes herself and becomes an FBI agent who is sent back to that town to investigate a human trafficking allegation. Travis, now known as Beast to his motorcycle club, never left and has held a torch for Brooke since her departure. The club is facing trouble on multiple sides. Brooke struggles with her own past and the future of the current victims she is trying to save. This book brings to light issues of violence that are prevalent and their long reaching effects. Brooke was always in Beast’s heart and he seems to be a safe haven, emotionally and physically, for her.
Beast was the sixth book in the Lords of Carnage MC series.
Brooke comes back into town for work after leaving at 18 yrs of age due to horrible events that unfolded. Upon her arrival, she runs into Beast from the Lords of Carnage MC which whom she had fallen in love with in high school. Unfortunately, due to events that happened, which resulted in her running away at 18, she hadn't spoken to Beast since.
But despite the unspoken during this story, Brooke & Beast reconcile and understand the events from the past. I dont want to ruin the storyline with spoilers, so I'm keeping the review breidlf.
Onto the next in this series, I am loving the authors writing style, will most likely finish the series at this rate 🙂📚
Beast(Travis) and Brooke have a lot of unfinished business to deal with. Brooke would rather just stay away and never have to return to Tanner Springs, there is a reason she left how she did so many years ago, but work has forced her to return. Beast just couldn't understand why she left things like she did and he tried his best to forget her and what she took away from him. Now that he's seen her again, the Beast is out to play and he knows what he wants and he WILL have it, or rather her. I loved every gritty and dirty, sexy piece of this story. Daphne is without a doubt an amazing writer for creating this world of Tanner Springs. I can't wait for more!
This was such a good read! I've loved every book in this series, and this one is no different! The writing flows well, and the characters are developed nicely. Beast (Travis) and Brooke are wonderful together, and they have great chemistry. This was a good story, with things happening inside the LOC club, and with things outside the club meeting. I thought that Rock was getting a little weird in the last couple of books, but was surprised with the way his story played out. I thought that the ending was perfect for these characters, and it was nice getting little updates on some of the other couples from this series. I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Action filled drama that draws you into the story and keeps you on the edge anticipating where the suspense and intrigue is going to take you next. Beast and Brooke's backstory is an intricate part of their story. I like how the storyline delves into Brooke's past and how it shaped her life choices and helped her heal. Beast and Brooke get their second chance to explore their red hot chemistry, get answers to questions, justice for innocent victims, the MC getting justice for betrayal and Beast getting retribution for Brooke. A start of a new life together for Beast and Brooke to live HEA.
Excellent book. Back in the days of being a teen, there was Brooke and Travis, in high school and innocent 1st love, then Brooke backed off, soon she was gone. Now 12 years later Brooke's an FBI agent sent back to her home town after a report came in about sex trafficking, Travis became Beast part of the Lords. Brooke gets the runaround by the mayor & local police chief. Then a young foreign girl is found, with a horrible story to tell. Things start going wrong at the MC, there is a ambush set, the Pres is sick. This is a book with lots of surprises, action and generally a really good storyline, if you love MC, you'll really love this Sue P
