Drats, Foiled Again!

Rate this book
Robert Gilbrinkle is blind in one eye, which makes dodging punches in his Anti-Hero Maneuvers class especially difficult, but his lack of depth perception is the least of his troubles. Nox Academy’s senior project deadline is fast approaching, he's failing three classes, and, naturally, his evil twin Rupert keeps trying to kill him every chance he gets.

But the real trouble begins when Robert’s pathetic superpower--a very unwicked superwink that fixes anything broken--starts to evolve. The kids at Nox used to laugh and call him "Rob Repairman" but nobody is laughing now. His wink threatens anyone who threatens him.

Robert has always known where he stands - on the other side of the hall from Rupert. What haunts him the most is the revelation that maybe he and Rupert aren't as different as he thought. Battling a common enemy brings them closer than either twin can handle, but the lives of their friends are at stake and the thirst for revenge is strong. Maybe even stronger than their disdain for each other.

With the playful cartoonish style and broad crossover appeal of Disney’s SKY HIGH, and the coming of age heroic drama of Matthew Cody’s POWERLESS, Robert’s story will resonate with kids from 8 to 14 who love to escape to that comic book world of good vs. evil and often wonder where in the midst of that universe they fit in.

Did you know when you add a book to Goodreads, they prompt you to write a review? Fun!

I wrote this book, and I had a LOT of fun writing it. What was even more fun was waiting six years for my two-year-old to be old enough to read it with me and then laughing with him over Famine Mouth's silly antics and Stellarbeam's sassy comebacks. As a mom of five boys, I can recommend this book as a read-aloud for parent-son or parent-daughter time. My sons and I read aloud together a lot. We loved Owls in the Family and Charlotte's Web, Mr. Popper's Penguins, and The Boy Who Could Fly. But Drats, Foiled Again! will always have a special place in our hearts as Mom's first book.

We hope you love it, too!

This is a lovely whimsical story that draws you along and makes you happy that there is still magic in the world somewhere just out of sight. I loved it from beginning to end.

The author of this book is one of my friends on goodreads!
My favorite character is Robert, it would be nice to clean my room with just a wink!
My other favorite character was probably Loveheart because of her hydra skates.
My favorite villain (for there are many in this book) was Plastic Palms because she can shoot plastic out of her hands and fly and Famine Mouth because he ate a lot and played Kill or kill some more which is a silly name for a game.
I totally loved reading the book. I like superheroes and villains. I also like adventure. And this book contained just that.

Fun read! I am not into wizards to much, but got drawn into this story because of the characters. I am a sucker for the underdog and Robert is a prime example. I looked forward to finding out how he over came his trials. It is easy to relate to an evil (or maybe just teasing) sibling. The story moved along well and kept me wanting to read more. I found myself thinking about the character after I had put the book down for a break.
I highly recommend this book to young readers.

It's awesome! My favorite character is Robert because I like his super power, how he can clean stuff up with a wink of his eye. I wish I could do that! Poof! Everything's clean. I also liked Morphea because she's sweet and beautiful, and I love her!

I would recommend this book to people who like good guys like Robert.

A very fun book for all ages that flips the script on superhero stories. It’s 250 pages, but a very quick read. I found it hard to put down on multiple occasions and I would recommend this book to anyone that not only likes superhero stories, but also likes some comedy mixed in
