Another great volume. This one has several one-shots after the main story. The main story was really good. Basically, it's a more mature take on the Rangers. The one-shots were pretty decent for the most part. Better than the one at the end of the previous book.

I'm really, really loving this series, but I only have up to year two.

It's fun, and I know almost nothing about Power Rangers: watched the 2017 movie and these comics. I cannot get into the shows, because they're a little too cheesy for me, and I've said before hold no nostalgic value since I didn't watch them as a child.

Somehow, the cheesiness is blunted in these comics and I can see all the things that people who love the Power Rangers talk about.

La trama de este volumen es más que interesante, mostrando un tono mucho más serio y oscuro al que nos tiene acostumbrado Power Rangers, sobre todo cuando se nos muestra la muerte de algunos personajes y al mostrarnos un mejor contexto sobre el peso que estos adolescentes cargan sobre sus hombros.

Contiene los números del 21 al 24 de la saga. Finaliza el arco: Promethea.
Este volumen es mucho más politico que los anteriores, mostrando un mundo mucho más peligroso y oscuro del que veníamos viendo anteriormente. Se nos muestra como la desconfianza del equipo, incluso en ellos mismos, hace que sea la entrega más madura hasta el momento.

Psychotic: 3,5 ★
"Psicótico" es un relato exclusivo que nos muestra a un nuevo grupo de Rangers, los Supersonic, y como la envidia y la codicia de uno de sus miembros, Trek, condena al grupo a su fin, a la vez que entrega su alma a Dark Specter, convirtiendose en el Psycho Green - el primer Psycho Ranger de la historia.

Tommy and Billy are still stuck in an alternate reality with other Power Rangers. Saba convinces alt. Zack to keep T&B safe.

We learn how Drakkon came to be and is transported to Earth and kept in a facility led by a former Red Ranger.

Jason works himself to death in Zordon’s absence and learns about the heaviness of leadership.

We get Zordon’s POV of being trapped between time with the ability to only view events in the time stream.

Saba tried to assassinate Drakkon but fails and is beheaded.

Year Two of Boom Studio's 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' comics picks up right where Year One left off, with Tommy, the Green Ranger, and Billy, the Blue Ranger, trapped in an alternate universe. There, they encounter Lord Drakkon, an evil version of Tommy, and the rebel group known as the Coinless. The Rangers must now figure out how to rescue the two trapped Rangers before both worlds are annihilated.

Year Two is just as enjoyable and intense as Year One, and I appreciate how they reinvent the classic Power Rangers to make them more dynamic and entertaining. The Rangers are multidimensional and more relatable, rather than the flawless heroes we're familiar with.

Jason takes center stage as he strives to become a reliable leader, while Billy navigates a complex storyline exploring his self-worth as a Power Ranger. Billy's character development is a welcome addition, I always thought Billy was an underrated Power Ranger. Meanwhile, Lord Drakkon poses a formidable threat, showing no signs of slowing down in his relentless pursuit of power. I also appreciate seeing a more human side to Zordon, especially in the 1969 ranger storyline, which reveals that there were Rangers before the ones we know today. I enjoyed being introduced to Grace Sterling, the leader of the 1969 team, and the tragic events that unfolded when they encountered Psycho Green Ranger on the moon.

Next up is Shattered Grid, where every Power Ranger in history must join forces to defeat Lord Drakkon before time runs out. I'm absolutely thrilled for another adventure with the Rangers!

Side Note: The mini comics in Year Two are so much better than the Year One mini comics. I love discovering the origin of Psycho Green, the Black Rangers team up and Bulk and Skull becoming Power Rangers…yes, you read that right!

Year Two of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers improves on Volume 1 and gives us an expanded, fun, and gritty look into this franchise.

This book sets the stage with a tease of what we can expect in Shattered Grid and the awesome introduction of Lord Drakkon. We then see the team try to function without Zordon, and see how Jason struggles with the weight of leadership and the responsibilities that come with it. We get to experience the Rangers protecting people across the planet and not just Angel Grove, which was refreshing because I always wondered why it was always only Angel Grove that got attacked. This book has other new concepts too like Finster creating human/mister hybrids and the Rangers and the military joining forces. All of this leads to the setup of Shattered Grid which has me anxious to jump in to!

My only criticism on this book is the formatting, which is broken up into 3 parts: the main story, short stories, and the cover gallery. I’m really enjoying the main story so far, and I thoroughly enjoy the expansive size of the cover gallery; the problem lies with the short stories. While a decent chunk of them are pretty good, there are quite a few that are a slog to get through, with one of them looking and sounding like it was written and drawn by a child. And all of them are clumped after the main story, which if some were mixed in between the main story issues I feel like this book would have a better flow to it. At the end of the day, it’s a little disappointing when only a 3rd of this book is the story you paid for, while the rest is mostly unnecessary filler.

All that said, I really did enjoy this book. Kyle Higgins has taken Power Rangers to a whole new level, and I am fully invested to see where the journey goes in Shattered Grid.

The first book was like a plot of a film, with lots of action and character development, then progressively high stakes. I wondered where the series can go when it's already become complex and you have alternate dimensions. It seemed quite a tricky task of overcoming Lord Drakkon but then it turns out its super easy, barely an inconvenience. Then back in the standard world, Zordon is restored. Finster then has created loads of monsters that are disguised as humans. They team up with Grace who was one of the actual original Power Rangers, battling Psycho Green on the moon.

At the end of the collection, there are a few random stories, but the ones featuring Squatt and Baboo, and Bulk And Skull - seem more simplistic and childish, completely contrasting in tone compared to the main work and the short story with Finster which is very dark in tone and art-style. Then there's loads of alternate covers.

Man oh man, I am just loving reading this series! It continue the elements of character development and dilemmas as well as expanded the lore of the Power Rangers universe. Overall, I love Billy's character arc and his relationship to Trini, and even Jason as he struggles to be a good leader to the team. One thing that was so fascinating was the addition of the Power Rangers 1969, and it didn't shy away with how bad it turned out for the them. It showed that even Zordon could make mistakes, showing his flaws. Also, seeing the Coinless and how Trini reacts to the Billy of the main universe was just so heart-warming. This makes for a perfect transition to the epic: Shattered Grid. I wish that this will eventually be adapted so I can see it as a show!

This was a step up from Year One, in terms of writing as it had a few vast vocab words but, that’s not saying much. The storyline is still a bit childish. Nevertheless, I’m going to continue reading as I’m now a not so proud owner of all the deluxe releases from Boom Studios. Btw, the one shots in the end are absolute garbage and have zero to do with the main storyline. I’m honestly not sure how they were ever allowed to be printed in the first place?

Excellent follow up to the Volume 1 HC. Looking forward to the Shattered Grid volume and additional stories like the Ninja Turtles crossover and Pink. I've never been much of a comics reader but I am really enjoying this series!

Surprisingly I think I enjoy the backup stories in this more than the main narrative. But the main story is still really fun, and I'm really enjoying how all six of the rangers are being expanded upon. It's nice to be able to read in an hour what it took the show like 16 episodes to do haha.

Awesome read and still maintain one of the best things I've read in the last 5 years. Looking forward to reading more of this awesome series.
