Cain and Marina
“Let’s get something straight, Marina Moretskova. I may have saved your life back at the hotel, but that does not mean I won’t dump you out of this car right here and now. I don’t need your problems. I’m sure as hell not the kind of man you want to play games with or try to bullshit.”
“I know what kind of man you are, Cain Hunter.”
We met Cain in the Born of Darkness
He was the head security team of a casino and he did not seem to be a nice Breed.

I love being in the Breed's world. This spin off series is so good. I enjoy see others of the species outside The Order. Two good main characters and a very interesting plot. Can't wait for the next one. Happy reading!
The heat and tension were heightened in this one wonderfully, the chemistry between the main characters ...more
Lara worked her magic once again! I'm currently at work looking like a zombie due to lack of sleep, I just couldn't put it down!
I absoluting LOVED HoD, Cain was exactly as I envisioned him. He has the tough ass Hunter exterior but a total softy in the middle **dreamy sigh**.
Marina is a very strong woman, who has faced massive loss and clings to who she has left.
We learn that Cain has a heavy guilt within him, and it takes Marina to ...more

A fast-moving, exciting, suspenseful and romantic PNR read, I loved this one!
This is the second book in the Hunter Legacy series, but it can easily be read as a standalone. Cain was introduced in the first book of this series, Born of Darkness, but I honestly could not remember him at all, and I was able to pick up this story and get completely caught up in all of the action and excitement with no problems at all.
Cain is a member of the Breed, a vampire known as a Hunter. Cruelly bred ...more

I didn’t feel a connection between the two main characters. It felt really off to me.
Cain is a great hero. Marina his perfect mate. I think the Hunter series is off to a great start.
I received an ARC for my honest review.
The Midnight Breed series is amazing, a series of sexy vampires and their Breed Mates and as the series progressed, the characters became a part of every page. When the Hunter Legacy began, I wondered if I'd like it as much as its predecessors and I have to happily say that it is just as good and a fantastic continuation.
Hour of Darkness is about Cain and Marina and how their ...more
I received this book for free from Tantor Audio in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. The Hour of Darkness by Lara Adrian is book two in the Hunter Legacy series. Each of these hunters from the program disbanded in the Midnight Breed series were left to strike out on their own to live their lives in the world. This is difficult for those hunters as they were raised all their lives until 20 years ago to be assassins.

Cain is a Gen one Hunter and Marina is a Russian trying to set things up so her mafia banker Uncle can get out and escape his life of crime.
Cain saves Marina's life twice and helps her complete her mission for her nefarious uncle.
I didn't think the story was bad but I didn't get the connection between Cain and Marina. It seemed forced to me. Almost as though Cain needed someone, anyone and Marina just happened to be the damsel in distress. Marina wasn't that smart, IMO. All the years d ...more
This book was not as good as the previous one in my opinion.
It had some exciting moments and twists for sure but there was one thing lacking; captivating characters.
Both main characters felt a little bit flat in my opinion. Cain was talking about his lack of honor or "if he were a better man..." for the most part of his book. Marina had two great scenes and everything else was just plain even though she had such a promising personality.
