Looking for Ms Right is the first book in the Jade Winters lesbian romance series.
While Jade Winters has been putting words together since she was a child, it wasn’t until 2010 that she became a serious writer. Today, as a full-time author, she has published four novels in the lesbian fiction genre as well as several short stories. Jade was born and educated in London where she studied journalism for three years at a London University. She is the youngest of 6 children born to a Nigerian father and English mother and blames her love of spicy food on her African heritage. Jade now makes her home in Dorset in the South of England with her partner and furry companions Zorro, Buttons and Zeus.
I decided to wait before I wrote this review, I thought that maybe that way I could find something nice to write about this book. I couldn’t. Those women were a pain in the ass, they’re mean, they’re rude, they’re selfish, they’re so many bad things but they weren’t interesting enough, deep enough or consistent enough as characters. And their “friendship”!!! At first it felt like real life friendship, not the super cute we can conquer all, fairytale friendships you find in books but the things turned weird and ugly and I don’t know, I was just hoping it would end on a happy note or in some realistic way so in my eyes it could be redeemed but not, the ending was the thing that convinced me it wasn’t a book for me.
Four friends looking for Ms. Right, or maybe even Ms. Right-Now?
Kemi is terrified she’ll never find The One.
Chloe, Kemi’s best friend, recently dumped by her lover, and not liking being alone.
Laura, ready to dump her husband because she wants more…only she’s not exactly sure what more is.
And Maddie whose lover has suddenly lost all interest.
All of these women are in search for a plan to boost their chances of the elusive Happily Ever After.
Kemi was my favorite character, she is someone I would want for a friend. Maddie and Laura are pretty cool too. You can feel their struggles and can’t help but root for them.
Chloe ends up being my least favorite, in fact by the end of the book, I didn’t much like her at all. While I can understand her issues and fears, but what she did to her ‘best friend’, I am not sure that I could ever forgive and forget, let alone keep up the friendship, yet these friends seemed to take it in stride.
It was a good read, but left far too many things hanging for my taste. I know this is only the first in a series, but I was hoping for a more satisfying ending. I will be buying the next in the series because I enjoyed the characters and I am curious to see how things go and which one find their Ms. Right.
A few typos and dropped letters, but not enough to take me out of the story. The only other negative thing I have with this book is the fact of using names that start with the same letter. It is a major pet peeve of mine. The characters were only minor ones, but it took me out of the story to see if it was the person I just read about or someone new.
I think, alas, I've reached the age where I'm simply too old to read about lesbians in their early twenties. Perhaps, I'm simply not able to read about boring lesbians in their early twenties. The book isn't terribly written but the main characters are all so needy and desperate to find solace in a good relationship. Gender up!
I literally just made a cuppa waiting to read on, to see where the next adventure took the group of women, to only realise it continues on in book two, so I thought I'd pass the time by writing a review :) First off, I enjoyed this book beyond words! I was so engrossed, I didn't realise I had come to an end, which is a blessing in disguise really!
Looking for Ms Right centers around a group of four diverse women (Kemi, Chloe, Laura and Maddie) looking to find their own 'Ms Right'. After the women have all decided that they are going on a mission to find love, Kemi starts an online blog among the community and soom is a huge hit. With opinions, comments, and socialising suggestions the women go on adventure after adventure.
Looking for Ms Right is definitely a must read, and a sure winner amomg Jade Winter fans! From one might stands, hiding in the wardrobe, fall outs, lies and deceit, and those LOL moments...what more could you ask for?
Oh goodness, after reading this book I just feel as if I have outgrown this genre of romance books. There were positives, it was the first book of its kind that I have read that actually had diverse characters and that should be celebrated. But for me I felt like the characters were lacking something, they felt a little one dimensional. I would hope if I went on to read the next two books in the series they would continue to develop and grow. Personally, I felt not all of the characters needed to be looking for a Ms Right, some needed time to get their head straight and one needs a long chat with a psychologist, and maybe that is why I struggled so much with the book. I am sure that there are many readers out there who will enjoy this book. Personally it was not for me it left me feeling too old.
I liked the premise of this book of four very diverse friends seeking the perfect, or almost perfect love. This story follows Kemi, Chloe, Laura and Maddie as they begin their journeys of self-discovery in this first book of the series. I enjoyed all of the characters except for Chloe who is truly a despicable person, if she considers herself a true friend. I don't want to give away the story so I'll just say I hope she redeems herself in the next book because I could never keep her as a friend. After Kemi's blog becomes a big hit, the women try one adventure after another to find the "right one.". With two more books in the series, I'm looking forward to many crazy adventures to come!
Enjoy the book very much. Loved the exploration of what it means to find your “Ms. Right.”
The only issue I had was with the way a conflict was resolved by the two friends near the end. I know there is a second book coming that I hope explores this more but I definitely think someone got off a little too easy with some very destructive behavior.
Otherwise, the characters are well developed and there are some laugh out loud moments. I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel!
Four friends set out on an adventure to find the perfect woman. Who knows that to be an impossible task? No one is perfect. Follow their journey of self discovery. A great read even if you do have to wait for the sequel. 😅
Awesome writing, I really felt. dislike for chloe... Found !myself ranting in my head while !making dinner. Excellent character building, looking forward to this series. Thanks!
I enjoyed the bond between the four friends. Ylthe sex was minimal at best but the storyline made up for it. Looking forward to book two. I little more sec couldn't hurt though.
Chole, Maddie, Kemi, and Lauren have been best friends since university. All have started a search for Ms. Right. Will their journeys lead to love and happiness or trip them up? A fun start to the series.
This story involves friendship among four women who all rediscover what they truly seek from life. To find the perfect or maybe not so perfect one, the One.
A very good book about for women looking for Mr. right. There was some drama sweetness and just a beautiful story. I really enjoyed it I’m looking for the part two.
