This book covers a lot of material. Has good coverage of civil rights and reconstruction. I think it's pretty boring in the early sections, and biased towards the left in sections from Kennedy on, especially in the chapters starting on Reagan. I guess the history is more controversial, but the bias is palpable. Every accomplishment of Reagan is met with "Critics say..." Overall it's ok, but must be supplemented with other materials. Teachers should re-read sections before assigning.
