1956. Nine years old. Sitting with my Dad at Fenway Park for a Red Sox game as superstar Ted Williams roamed along the sidelines spitting at and throwing the bird at the fans. Unbeknownst to me, sitting in the same park with her grandmother was the lady I would marry a dozen years later. Point being, the Red Sox gene goes deep in our family and this chunky book of information and anecdotes which I kept in the throne room to dip into during my ahem, meditations, is a great read. It sure brought back some memories, some glorious - finally winning the World Series in 2004, some horrifying such as the loss of the series '75 (one game of which I actually got to see in Cincinnati) and the horror of the loss in '86. From the heroes to the goats, from the glory years far before I arrived on this earth, Red Sox fans are a breed apart and this book is for them. Sports fans in general would probably give it a 3, fans of other teams a 2, but for the intended audience, it is a winner!
