WORDS FOR THE SOUL

I'm not sure where to start my review. Do I start with saying I'm in love with Bishop? Or how the books grabs you and drags you through as you race to catch up with the author? Do I tell you that these characters hit you in the face hard and some you will love and others your jaw will tence up and your hands will automatically clench into fists cause you just want to punch them.

I'm not going into any detail because this is a road you need to travel yourself. Feel what you feel

BISHOP has to be one of my most favorite reads-EVER!

It has everything you could want in it-raw honesty, angst, vulnerable emotions, hot as heck sex, a twisty plot and characters that will forever stay with you!

BT’s work is always amazing, but this novel here, is one of his best works yet! The story plays out like a movie and I can still see and hear all of on replay in my head. I love the emotions and the raw honesty in here-the honesty about things nobody takes about, the taboos of society and

I laughed. I cried. I raged. And I seriously wanted to punch some folks in their faces.

Bishop gives us a look into his world where he has lost his eye and his path in life. He never thought to think "What happens when I leave the Army"? But now that he's been discharged what does he do with his life? Where does he find a purpose, another band of brothers, a sense of what and who he is?

I've always known to enlist takes a special person but never thought....what happens after? I know that just bec

Beyond incredible!

This is not just any novel...This is a story about friendship, sacrifice and loyalty. I went through all the emotions reading Bishop. I laughed, cried and was in awwww. I fell in love with each character, except for Brady, I wanna choke his arrogant ass lol. I'm taking a lot with me from reading this book twice already since its release. The biggest message I took away is not to take friendships for granted. Friends come and go but true friends will be there for you no matter t

Bishop by BT Urruela was a fantastic read from cover to cover. This was a must read for me on release day and I immediately one-clicked Bishop. Bishop was an incredible blend of humor, grit, friendships, life lessons and sex. It was real! Okay, some things may have been over the top (in a good way) and may not happen on a daily basis – but totally relatable and realistic! The characters were epic and the banter back and forth between them was priceless. JD was such a hoot and had me laughing so ...more

Wow, just wow. I’m not sure I have the words to describe how I felt after finishing Bishop last night. There were parts of this book that made me laugh, made me cry, made me fan myself, made me mad and made me want to throw my kindle.

In Bishop, BT takes you on one man’s journey from being discharged from the military after an injury to starting school in a town far away from his home to pledging a frat and the aftermath of his first year in college. Through each step of the story, you see how ev

You really just need to read it for yourself...

It's not very often that I wait a full week before posting a review for a book due to the author's words resonating deep within me. This book, is one of those. Maybe it had a deeper meaning and impact as I myself am a veteran and know the difficult struggle transitioning to college life in my mid-late twenties. Or maybe it was the fact that I too deal with PTSD and other issues like to Bishop's. Or that the Bishop's values, integrity, loyalty and ch

I finished reading Bishop a couple of hours ago and had to order my thoughts and process my feelings before I could write this review. Parts of the book made me laugh out loud, made me angry, made me cheer, made me ugly-cry, and even made my heart pound with the sexy, fun times. BT poured his heart and soul into his latest book, incorporating his own life experiences, making his characters more human and relatable.
On the surface, Bishop is the story of a man transitioning from an injury-shortene

This story is raw, but it gets the job done. And by job, I mean making me sniffle like a little baby every time things go south in the story. I fell in love with Bishop early on. He’s combat wounded. Just out of the military. Looking forward to spending more time with his girlfriend, and things don’t quite work out as he planned. He signs up for college & joins a fraternity where he doesn’t know anyone, and, shenanigans. Probably not the best place for someone coping with transitioning back ...more

Well this one has taken me some time to get through, not because I didn't enjoy it, but because I wanted to make sure to take in the story and details of the book. I had read the short in the Frat Chronicles and knew I need to know what happens with the new pledges for the DIK fraternity.

Well I was not disappointed at all! I loved this story and hope there are more to come from some of the characters. I would love to see either a back story or continuation of their stories within the fraternity

Every thing you want in a complete story. Must read!

Wow, this is BT's best work to date!
I may have fallen in love with Bishop. He's the ultimate book boyfriend without trying to be. Bishop is naturally alpha, he feels deeply, loves his friends with his whole heart, he's fiercely loyal to those he cares about and knows his way around a woman's body.
We follow Bishop through his first semester of college after being wounded in combat while serving in the Army. He struggling with be a civilian, try

An exceptionally well written book with crazy, funny antics, Bishop had my full attention. There were topics and actions that raised my eyebrows and had me cheering Bishop on (while shaking my head). I fell in love with cast of characters and, quite frankly, felt like I knew them.

The military and their brotherhood are a bond that I’ve never been able to experience, but being in a sorority...yep! Decades later it seems that the hazing, stupidity and demoralizing of others hasn’t changed much. Re

An incredible story about a decorated war Veteran who is floundering in civilian life but eventually finds his path.

Bishop is complicated. A good man but plagued by memories of war and loss. He suffers from anxiety around large groups. He drinks too much. However, he is honorable, loyal and lives by the ARMY code of integrity.

After a horrible explosion that leaves Bishop with facial scars, a long recovery at Walter Reed, he is now a civilian. Not sure what to do with his life, he enrolls in coll

This story is a ride well worth hopping on! It will take you through a rollercoaster of emotions, laughing to crying, anger to love, betrayal to trust. I hope you hold on, read to the end because you will not be disappointed!

Bishop is raw, unapologetic and brings to light the struggles of a young wounded veteran as he tries to figure out where he fits in as a civilian and what his purpose and potential can be now that he has the rest of his life ahead of him.

It is also a story of friendship. Fr

Friends who become family

I chose to give this book give stars because of the amazing messages the author and story tell. I laughed and I cried many times as the story unfolded. You can't help but to call in love with Bishop and his group of misfits. It is amazing the kind of bond that can be formed when people go through mental and/or physical obstacles, even amongst very different types of people. This book shines a light on the college frat, sorority, and party lifestyle that desperately needs

For me, this novel was an emotional roller coaster ride as I followed McKenzie Bishop on his transition from life as a soldier to the life of a civilian looking to find his way after choosing to leave his life of military service following a life-altering injury while deployed.

I think you’ll laugh, cry and you might even become angry as you come along for the experiences he has and meet the people that cross Bishop’s path as he seeks to find his new normal.

Bishop also provided me with moments to

Wow! This is the BEST that I've read from BT Urruela! I loved everything about this story, well except Carleigh! It is a roller coaster ride of emotions. Taking this walk with Bishop made me stop and think long and hard about friendships, old and new. It makes you think about what our kids go through at college just so they feel included or involved. It truly made me think of all the service men and women that transition out of the military. Honestly, I didn't realize it was such an emotional an ...more

McKenzie Bishop, is a complex lead character, I think he doesn't have faith in his strength. He is a leader in spite of his boredom, loneliness, and his own form of alcohol therapy. He does not believe he can overcome wounds from his time overseas in the Army. Veterans Affairs substance abuse program is his best choice since his pledging process ends in being arrested at a fraternity party.
He is surprised when he falls head over heels for his much older female counselor and with his sessions be

Be prepared to have your heart strings pulled!!

First, I have to give props to BT Urruel, I honestly don’t think anyone else could of written this book as well as he has!!
If you’ve ever wanted an inside look at life as a wounded veteran and what it’s like to pledge a fraternity than you must read this book. But be prepared for one hell of a ride. Fantastic read

Wow, just wow! This author has the ability to draw you in to every story he writes. His words take you through a whole gamut of emotion and this revamped Bishop is just......!! I have laughed, I have cried and everything in between.
Bishop is struggling to find his fit after being injured in action and being medically discharged from the army. Joining a Fraternity may give him the brotherhood he misses but he gets so much more. But through it all, his struggles and fights, his inte

Disclaimer: if you are not familiar with BT’s work, understand that this is not your typical romanticized-HEA type romance book.

Bishop is a story that is the reality of life. If you’ve ever been a part of Greek Life in college, you will identify with the pledge process. You will laugh, get angry and ‘feel’ for the characters. Bishop is trying to find his place in life after suffering a life changing injury in the Army. He returns to college and joins a fraternity, seeking out that brotherhood he

I don't know how to review this book except to say you need to read it for yourself to understand. And do yourself a favor and read it! I've read a lot of books and I would like to say that I literally laugh out loud or cry for all the emotional books I've read, but I don't. But, for this book I did both. I laughed loud enough to draw attention in a doctors office and that has never happened. I cried hard enough I had tears streaming down my face and that rarely happens. I’m new to BT and I must say this is probably the first time I’ve loved a books Afterward and Acknowledgements as much as I loved the book. This book is a tough read, because it is real. So very real. Men and women, live, die and are wounded each and every day to give us the freedoms to read, go to school, enjoy life.. everything. This book touches on so many emotions, gives insight to things most of us will never know. BT, thank you for this look into your world, and a God Bless

What a story!

Not exactly a coming of age story, maybe more of a coming home. Bishop's story is not a pretty story, it has its highs and lows, its friends and enemies, as he tries to find his fit into a world he now has to live in. His military career is cut short , he's left injured and alone, his milatary brother moving on while he's facing a different way of life. He joins a fraternity, seeking a connection he's missing from the Army, where we watch friendships nurture into brothers with a who
