ONE LOOK AND HE WAS HOOKED A photograph. A feeling. A knowing. That’s all it took for Dante “Zed” Zaragoza to realize his fate was intertwined with a woman he’d never met. Now it was up to him to find Marcia Price and bring her home safely. Thankfully for Marcia he’s temporarily part of the Black Dawn SEAL team, who are on the hunt to locate eleven people whose yacht had gone missing in the South China Sea. A photograph means she’s alive… for now.
SHE NEEDED A HERO Marcia Price realized she was in the hands of a monster as she was dragged deeper and deeper into the jungle. She wanted to give up so many times but dammit, no matter what, she would survive this even if it almost killed her. And maybe, just maybe, the universe would send her a hero.
HE’LL MOVE HEAVEN & EARTH Zed’s blood turned to ice the moment he found out the history of the man who had Marcia in his grip. He wasn’t just a sociopath, he’d been trained as a SEAL. And that was only the beginning. Zed would need more than his standard bag of tricks if he and Marcia were going to get out of there alive…

Dante (Zed) knows, by just looking at a photograph, that he will be, needs to be, the one to find Marcia and bring her home. Zed is currently being borrowed by the Black Dawn SEAL team and they're investigating the disappearance of a yacht with eleven people on board. The picture of Marcia isn't much in the way of finding them, but it does mean she's currently alive.
Marcia may, literally, be in the hands of evil, but she refuses to give up, even though she may want to. Marcia intends to survive and is thankful for every way the universe tries to help her do that, including the man determined to be her hero.
However, what neither knew until it was almost too late was that the man holding Marcia isn't like everyone else but more like Zed, at least training wise. As Zed and Marcia work to ensure she's safe, neither are prepared for the intense chemistry between them, nor do they have the ability, or wish, to fight it.
What makes a man who'd once fought for his country become a monster? How do you win against someone that would be familiar with every tactic you'd think to try? One who has the same training you do? Can Zed protect the woman who is quickly becoming everything to him? What happens when Marcia makes it home? Is her time with Zed over or just beginning? Is a HEA possible?
One-click now and follow along as two people brought together by potentially tragic circumstances discover a love fated to be.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
This is the fourth entry in the Black Dawn series but it can definitely be read as a stand alone novel. I started with this one and will be going back to read the others just because I liked the secondary characters that already got their books. Zed knew from the first time he saw a photo of Marcia/Lesley that she was the woman for him. Too bad she was deeply involved in a revenge plot with bad guys wanting her dead. Plenty of action, suspense and romance made this a great read.
This was engaging and so romantic. I loved how Zed from a photo just fell for the girl. How he knew that she was going to change his life and for the better to.
Zed was the tough guy on the outside but total marshmallow on the inside for Marcia. His team was like family and they were so close and great together. We see him fight for Marcia’s safety and still not treat her with kid gloves with the situation she was in. He saw that Marcia was one who gave herself to others in taking care of them and giving them unending love but never had someone really let her let go and take care of them and that is what Zed did. Was he perfect in doing this? No. He messed up sometimes and let his alpha side get the better of him a few times but it was with the right intentions. His love for Marcia was seen in everything he did. He was what she needed and she for him as well. She rounded his rough edges and gave him a place to feel grounded, love and able to let go.
Marcia was such a sweet character. She loved without pause and even when she was in danger she helped others. She didn’t really think of herself often but did think of others and how to care for them and show them someone was there for them. This beautiful soul was damaged though for past relationships had her thinking less of herself. She felt that things ended in those relationships because of her and not the guy. Even if they were douchenozzles. So she didn’t let men in easily. that is what made her rescue and subsequent story fun. She didn’t let Zed in easily he had to earn her trust, respect, friendship and heart. When she did let him in and give into the attraction-wow. We got some smoking scenes but also some intimate moments where they opened themselves up and became vulnerable to one another. We also got to know the characters and what defined them and shaped them to who they were today.
The story was fast paced, filled with danger, adventure and intrigue. Seeing the events unfold so fast and watch the reactions was great. And seeing a love come out of it even better. Watching Zed be pulled in from a photo and fall head over heels the more he got to know Marcia and she him was endearing. Seeing them beat the danger that surrounded her and begin their life together will suck you in as will the guys he works with and the plot itself. I love how the story didn’t just settle on the romance but on them becoming vulnerable with one another and learning to trust each other but also how Zed didn’t treat Marcia with kid gloves but as a woman. As the smart, independent, caring woman she was. And Marcia didn’t have her fears stop her from learning who Zed was and trusting him with her heart and love. A wonderfully intimate story that pulls you in from the moment Zed sees the photo of Marcia and keeps you there as we learn who these two are and watch Zed rescue Marcia in more ways than one and he her as they keep her safe and they fall in love.
This book starts off at a fast pace and does not stop until the final page has been turned. There is definitely something for everyone in this book. I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation and suspense. I look forward to reading what happens next.
I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
Oh my! This story starts of with a bang and doesn’t let up till the end. I was hooked from the first sentence ““He’s going into anaphylactic shock, I need the EpiPen,” she screamed. And just keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole story.. Marcia is an amazing woman with an incredible sense of loyalty and courage, but she also has a huge heart for all she loves. But when she falls into the clutches of a killer it up to Zed and his seal team to keep her safe. Zed knows just from looking at a photo that Marcia is it for him and he will do everything in his power to keep her safe. From the jungle of Borneo to the beach of San Diego, the baddies keep coming after Marcia and Zed, Hunter, Dex and the rest of black dawn keep foiling their attempts to capture Marcia. And through it all we get a beautiful love story that develops between Marcia and Zed. But when the baddies finally get their hands on Marcia will Zed be able to rescue her in time.. This story is an absolute must read as is every story in this amazing series..
When I am looking for a military romance with loads of action, plus all the romance, I have to look no further than Caitlyn O’Leary. I’m pretty sure I’ve read everything she’s written (if not I’m slipping!) so I was more than happy to jump into her latest release.
“This girl’s spirit radiated off the photo.”
Marcia found herself in the middle of a life-threatening situation in the blink of an eye. She’s as far from prepared as you could be but she still managed to maintain her cool and try to stay alive. Help would come…. Zed and his team weren’t far behind and they brought with them all the confidence and strength (and firepower) needed. Their journey was an exciting ride that saw romance blossom under the most harrowing circumstances…
Insta-love mixed with bullets may seem like a strange combination but it certainly worked in Marcia and Zed’s case. There was lump in your throat suspense as they went from one harrowing scene to the next, even as they were building something together. A host of supporting characters meant they weren’t alone in a struggle that didn’t let up the tension until the end… Another great story, I can’t wait for more.
Sometimes you just need a Neanderthal to have your back.
This is one of the most heart wrenching books I have read. It's also full of bravery, determination, and love. Sometimes things don't turn out perfect in life. There are monsters who are very real and the real hero's who fight these monsters. Marcia has learned this lesson the hard way. She finds herself in the hands of a real life monster her only hope a man she doesn't know going off of a picture. Zed knew the moment he seen the picture that this woman was important to him. So he sets out to save this woman at all costs. When push comes to shove can he save the woman who he just knows is meant to be his everything? Can she hold on long enough for Zed to get to her? Y'all absolutely have to read this book. If you read just one book this week make it this one.
I’m not going to give away any spoilers because I’m not the type that does that! So all I’m going to say about this book is that it’s absolutely freaking amazing! I was sucked in before I had even finished the second paragraph but then again every book of Caitlyn O’Leary’s has done that to me. She’s awesome at creating her characters and weaving her stories to the point that they all seem so real which is why she’s one of my favorite authors! So yes you got it, I most definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for a fantastic story to crawl into its pages and get lost in its reality!
Her Wicked Hero starts with a bang and goes from there to a rollercoaster ride of action, adventure and love. Marcia is smart and funny and stronger than she knows. She takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I would have been a blubbering pile of goo if I’d have gone through half of what this young woman did. This story was supposed to be about Navy SEAL Dante “Zed” Zaragoza but to me the real star was Marcia. The bad guy was a real shit and deserves everything he gets in the end. I really enjoyed this story. This is part of a series but read fine standalone.
It’s full of action, suspense and romance. It will suck you in from the beginning as it keeps you on the edge of your seat with its twists and turns. It’s gripping and intense storyline. I loved the connection and chemistry between the characters. I enjoyed reading their journey as everything starts to unravel. Looking forward to reading more.
If you have never read any of Caitlyn O'Leary books then get on it . They are very good. She takes you from one place to another with all kinds of action, love , team work of different types of our Military Groups. I am sure you will love them as much as I do or even more ;)
With every book I read from Caitlyn O'Leary, I'm just amazed at how much better they get each time. This is gritty, intense and you won't want to put Zed and Marcia's story down. It starts out full throttle and doesn't slow down. Another great story.
Another amazing story in the Black Dawn series. A case of mistaken identity puts Marcia in the crosshairs of a former soldier and Dante (Zed) is determined to keep her safe. This book kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for what happened next! Definitely recommend it!
Insta-love. How they spent time and talked with each other was just glossed over by writing just one line and now she was "his woman". No idea how we reached that stage. Sigh. The only good part were the action scenes.
Her Wicked Hero Black Dawn Book 4 by Caitlyn O'Leary ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is another fabulous, lovely romance to read. Warning! Once you start reading Wicked Hero you won't be able stop you will be compelled to read it straight through to the very end! This is another thriller in Milla story by Caitlyn O'Leary. It's a the fourth romance in The Black Dawn series that features Marcia Price and Dante "Zed" Zaragoza. Marcia has been taking care of her adopted family because she is giver and caretaker. But when she and her family is Kidnapped taken to a jungle. Marcia shows her strength. Zed is a trained Navy seal, he and the other seals on the team must rescue them. Zed has this feeling that the girl in the picture is important to him and he must save her. The readers first met Zed in Book 3 where he helps Hunter who Zed feels they have a special connection. What a action packed, captivating and exciting book to read. OMG this is a serious page turner, if you enjoy Navy Seals with that special heat while being protective Alpha men. There is plenty of drama plus the chemistry between Marcia and Zed is off the chart hot. They are utterly adorable as a couple and surrounded by some wonderful secondary characters too. What I enjoy about Caitlyn O'Leary books is that she manages to make them hilarious, hot and steamy, as well as being very emotional. This is a fantastic book to read and I'm excited about the Black Dawn series and hopefully there is plenty more stories in the series. I highly recommend this amazing book in this FABULOUS series from Caitlyn O'Leary.
The first eight chapters of Her Wicked Hero are jam packed with excitement, danger and action. Definitely edge of your seat moments. Sadistic mercenaries, mistaken identities, kidnappings along with a surprising realization make the book the best in a reading experience. Marcia Price and Dante "Zed" Zaragoza are thrown together under harrowing circumstances. He started falling just looking at her picture in his mission folder. She has a fiery temper, is a caregiver and a nurturerer. She can't believe he would want her. She's nothing special. She couldn't be more wrong because in his eyes and heart she's the woman he's longed for.
Stories that tug at the heartstrings, convey heroism and vulnerability, and leave the reader with a feeling of coming home…this is what Caitlyn O’Leary continues to deliver. Every story holds a special message, but a man who says, “I saw your photo and recognized my soul mate”, will always capture your heart.
Her Wicked Hero will enthral and captivate readers with another tale of evil and danger and the men who choose to put everyone else’s safety before their own. But it isn’t just the rules of engagement that drive your decisions; sometimes you have to go with your gut instincts, and no one has better instincts than Dante ‘Zed’ Zaragoza. So when he looks at woman’s image, and sees his future; nothing will stop him succeeding in his mission.
Marcia and Zed are extraordinary characters; each has pain and loss in their past, but neither has allowed this to dampened their spirits, or their zest for life. They each have a tendency to accept too much responsibility for that which is out of their control, but this only makes their connection stronger.
Zed is tough, courageous and in Marcia’s words, a complete Neanderthal; but his caring nature, loyalty to his team, and dedication to the protection of the innocent, are what make him so extremely loveable. Marcia is a little bit motherly; she feels her life’s purpose is to repay the kindness given to her as an orphaned child; but in doing so, she has limited her ability to find the happiness she so richly deserves.
Her Wicked Hero is just one more example of the passion, emotion and enthusiasm we have come to expect from any story written by Ms O’Leary; and as you turn the pages, you can’t help but feel the genuine love she has for her exceptional characters. So as I read the last page, and shed a little tear, I knew I’d be anxiously awaiting the next story, even though I’m sure it will tug on my emotions, make me laugh and cry, and above all else wish I had my very own Neanderthal to keep me warm.
This book opens in the jungle with a hostage situation. Several very prominent people are being held. One of them former NSA Director Harold Brockman and his children. One of the problems is that their yacht has been blown up, making rescue unlikely. That is until the director fakes a seizure and they let his daughter search for an EpiPen. In reality she is looking for a watch that shields a homing device, it will alert the correct people of their whereabouts thus dispelling any thoughts that they are all dead in the explosion.
As the team prepares for rescue our hero Zed sees a photo of Marcia. That photo has him itching to get on with the mission. That woman was his, she just doesn't know it yet.
The mercenaries think Marcia is the oldest of the three Brockman daughters and was playing the role to keep herself safe.
Unfortunately for her when the team arrives she was away from their hut with the youngest daughter at the makeshift latrine. Taken by Raymond, one of the most vile of the mercenaries, she needs to stay alive and after her sarcastic comments earn her a backhand from him that leaves her seeing stars she realizes she needs to be subservient, no matter how hard it is.
As the hostages are being airlifted out, Zed starts his search for her.
In the aftermath of the rescue it becomes apparent that Raymond is obsessed with Marcia.
Plenty of drama and hold your breath moments as Zed and Marcia get to know one another.
I love smart, strong women, and Marcia fills that role to a tee in spite of her insecurities, relationship wise. Zed has his hands full with her and I loved watching him pull her out of her shell.
I loved Zed's team and since I started this series at the end instead of the beginning I now have to go back and read the rest.
Emotional, sometimes scary, action packed, with sweet yet sizzling sex and some giggles make this book a must read.

Marcia Price isn’t sure what the future will hold. I kept getting the impression that she doesn’t know how to swear – she gives a more “dainty” swear word. She’s very resourceful and able to think on her feet. Dante “Zed” Zaragoza is doing a job by the seat of his pants. With the state of our world today, you can almost picture this actually happening to someone.
One thing I loved about this story is that the author seemed to let the story develop. The scenes weren’t rushed and our characters were going to take us right along with wherever they went. Not at any time did I feel that you needed to read the previous books in order to enjoy this latest in the Black Dawn series. To keep me riveted the author created a secondary character named Raymond. He’s totally twisted and we don’t know everything about him but I could picture him as a villain on Criminal Minds.
By the time I finished the book I knew that I look forward to reading more by this author and more of this series. I wanted to know more about the team that Zed works with. The ending was happy but really couldn’t tell if it was a happily ever after. Maybe it’s because this is part of a series and I’ll get to see our main characters again. Can’t tell you anything about a next book for Black Dawn but the author certainly has enough other books available that I can check out in the meantime.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Another breathtaking winner by Ms. O'Leary. She shoves you right into the thick of a rescue turned hostage situation. Not some sterile bank, no. This is the cruel jungle with the only thing more dangerous the man who has taken her. The action is non stop. Just when you think things can't get worse--yep--they do.
Marcie is a caregiver. Not by profession by the heart. This time, she's the one in need. Zed/Dante sees her picture and KNOWS she is going to be important to him. First, he has to get her away from the enemy who is not only evil but a former SEAL.
Zed has his work cut out to convince Marcia she is worthy of special feelings and treatment. Her past has taught her differently. Since she isn't free and clear of the danger he has to convince her to trust him with her safety before she'll trust her heart to him.
As always, the author gives us a team of men who have to trust each other with their lives and the lives of the people they love. We've met some of them before and checking in is an added bonus. However, this books stands on its own. Be prepared for danger, vicious bad guys, steam, and non-stop action. (A little suggestion: Don't think you'll just read a couple of chapters before going to sleep. Not gonna work. Once you start it you won't want to put it down.)
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
First off I want it to be known that I not only voluntarily read and reviewed An ARC of Her Wicked Hero but I purchased the book as well. With that out of the way, onto my review...
From the first page until the last I was hooked! It was non-stop action and some tear jerking OH and a big holy cow didn't expect moment coming with some Voodoo magic thrown in! From the moment Dante "Zed" Zaragoza saw a picture of Marcia Price he knew she was his. The only problem, Marcia was being held hostage along with her adoptive family and a number of other diplomats in the jungle of Borneo. With the rest of the team members of Black Dawn they set out on a mission to find and rescue everyone. Marcia is my kind of heroine, sassy attitude, she calls it like she sees it and though she has been strong her whole life she isn't prepared for the drop dead gorgeous Navy SEAL who just wants to take care of her like she deserves to be taken care of. Dante "Zed" Zaragoza was raised by his Mexican grandmother on the tough streets of L.A. She gave him a choice, the Navy or a life in a gang, Zed choose the Navy and earned his Trident to become a Navy SEAL. He is kind, compassionate, and would do anything for the people he cared about. I will only way this because I would like for you to read the book but Zed has a secret and with Marcia's help he finally comes clean.....want to know more? Get the book and call in love with the men of Black Dawn and the women who love them.
Buckle your safety belt and grab your survival bag - this book is like a thrill ride through the jungle!
Zed is part of the team sent to rescue the kidnapped family of a retired NSA head. Just one look at Marcia's file and Zed's spidey senses light up like fireworks. Marcia is one tough cookie, a caretaker at heart, and when the lone surviving kidnapper drags her deeper into the jungle, Zed sets out to rescue her no matter what it takes.
Even after the Borneo jungle, the threats aren't over for Marcia or her family. I truly fell in love with Zed's alpha/neanderthal manner of taking care of Marcia. It was clear that she was too busy taking care of everyone else to pay attention to the risks she was taking, so Zed's laser focus on her was absolutely perfect.
This book is action-packed, full of heroes and villains and hilarious camaraderie among the SEAL team. The love these men have for each other is only eclipsed by the love they have for their women, and it was pure joy to read about Zed and Marcia's developing bond. These two are just perfect for each other.
The writing is stellar, the characters are memorable, the romance is intense and deeply emotional. This entire series is well worth reading; one of the best SEAL teams series I've ever read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
An amazing book to go with the Black Dawn series a great bit of writing as always that I come to expect from Caitlyn O'Leary. The plotline was great, the characters were well put together and gelled with each as the story rolled out before us, the story was full of suspense, banter, death and at the heart of it a strong woman trying to survive. Marcia has been kidnapped along with Mr B and his 2 daughters by some bad men who want all the details about their jobs. Zed knows from a picture that he wants Marcia, not just for one night but maybe in a forever kind of way.
With the help of black Dawn and member of his own team they rescue the hostages but Marcia is gone with Raymond and he really needs to get her back. From her we see Zeds struggle to find Raymond and Marcia, Marcia's struggle to survive and the struggle to keep the other person's on the boat alive. A vendetta is out against Marcia as Raymond now wants her because she bested him, so we see Raymond trying to abduct her, we hear of the things he has done to other people he has been out with, worked with, not liked and the lengths he is will to go to. Can Zed keep Marcia safe whilst they round up the bad guys? A fantastic read and I can't wait for any other books in this series but an unexpected surprise towards the end made me smile. To find out buy the book. I received an advanced reader copy of this book
From the moment Zed sees Marcia's photograph, he knows that he is connected to her - and he'll do whatever it takes to find and protect her. But life doesn't become easy once he does find and rescue Marcia. Her once captor - a sociopath with SEAL training - is determined to get revenge for the way Marcia humiliated him. The clock is ticking as danger looms and Zed is determined to keep Marcia safe.
While this is the fourth book in Ms. O'Leary's Black Dawn series, it is not necessary to have read the previous books in order to appreciate this one. Zed is an alpha male hero with a magical sense for connections. Marcia is a caretaker, more concerned with others and their comfort than anything else. This is something her adopted family seems to take advantage of, much to Zed's frustration. At the same time, the connection between Zed and Marcia is palpable. While Marcia is cast in the role of damsel in distress, she is not a wilting flower and I liked that she didn't just sit around waiting to be rescued. At the same time, Zed is not so overpowering that he doesn't take Marcia's thoughts and feelings into account.
A few of the plot beats didn't work for me, but they also hit some of my triggers. However, if you're looking for a military romance with strong characters, this is a good one to read and I'm planning on catching up with the rest of the series.
This book is book 4 in the Black Dawn series. It can definitely be read as a stand alone. I didn’t realize it was part of a series and read it. It was so good.
This story is about Marcia who lost her parents as a teen and was brought into her best friends family and raised as one of the sisters. She stepped into the role of caregiver to the three sisters when their mother died. She felt like she needed to be indispensable so she could continue to stay with her new family. While on a business trip with the dad and two of the sisters they found themselves kidnapped. The mercenaries took them and several others to a hidden camp and they were locked up. Marcia was able to activate a tracking device that her foster father, former head of the NSA had in his backpack.
Zed and his team are assigned to a new case. The former head of the NSA, a physicist and a banker are all in the group that are missing. He is looking over the files before they leave and he sees a picture of Marcia. One look and he knows she is his soulmate.
This book is extremely well written and entertaining. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves strong men and strong women. I love Marcia’s strength. She is a caregiver through and through but she can stand up for those she loves or even those she has just met. Zed is so smart and strong. They make the perfect pair.
Her Wicked Hero is an emotional rollercoaster ride through the jungle and beyond. If you are an adrenaline junkie this book is for you. It grabs you from page one and never let's you go. O'Leary entices you with her over the top alpha males and her kick ass heroines. Dante "Zed" and Marcia have enough chemistry to set the pages on fire but also have hearts of gold. OMG Zed is a hero after my own heart. He is a big teddy bear inside raised by his grandmother he respects and values women. Every woman on earth wants a man like Zed in her life. Marcia has always taken responsibility for everyone in her life and has never learned to say no. From one disaster to the next she just keeps going never realizing she is being used and manipulated by the ones she loves. Character development is spot on and you will love the heroes and truly dislike the villains. You become invested in all aspects of Zed and Marcia's story and you are waiting breathlessly for their HEA ending. As always with a Caitlyn O'Leary book this can be read as a standalone. There are some well known characters that make appearances and they add to the story but do not detract if they are unknown to you. Be sure to give this book a try and be ready for a thrill ride.
Looking for a HEARTSTOPPING romantic suspense with HIGH OCTANE ACTION, SWEET HEART-MELTING ROMANCE AND UNFORGETTABLE HEROES? Than set your eyes on Her Wicked Hero! Miss O' Leary does it...AGAIN! She brings us another swoon worthy hero who will take a hold of your heart in under 5 seconds and leave you feeling satisfied, protected, and oh so warm. Zed is amazing. Sexy, smart, protective, caring, and really romantic, I felt incredibly honored to read a story with this type of hero. He is exactly what I imagine a man in the military should be like...a gentleman and protector of the HIGHEST order. Marcia is such a caring heroine. She thinks of EVERYONE first before herself and the way she cares about everyone around her really had me liking her a lot. She needed Zed and I believe that he needed her.
Her Wicked Hero had EVERYTHING and made ALL my feelings come forth. I felt the need to cry, I felt on the edge of my seat, my heart in my throat, scared out of my mind with all the crazy intense action and some of the best and sweetest romance you could imagine. Caitlyn O'Leary writes GOLD with her romantic suspense stories and I can NEVER get enough!
Her Wicked Hero gets HIGH OCTANE FIVE SHOOTING STARS!
The heroine has guts and knows to keep her mouth shut and just go with things until their help is on its way. She knows the helps on the way. However, when an innocent baby and its family gets in the guy who kidnapped her way, she knows she’s has to protect the innocent, so the help can get to them. She just needs to have enough bravery to stay calm until then.
Our hero has his attention captured by a picture and knows it has something to do with his future. However, when he learns she’s on his next mission and needs him, nothing will keep him away. During a meeting briefing they learn who has our heroine and it’s a person who’s been trained to be a SEAL of all things.
The plot first comes off as typical, but shortly after you realize the storyline has made a turn and isn’t so typical any longer. When the hero finally catches up with the heroine, he knows she’s got more guts and bravery than anyone was giving her credit for. He just needed to help her to get safety and keep everyone alive before the sociopath finds them.
This is the 4th from this series, and different and yet still entertaining…wonder where we’ll go with the next one?
