When things turn deadly, who will she choose her friend or her lover?
Fersia can’t wait to start her new job in the laboratory. It’ll be the perfect way to rekindle her relationship with Jocko.
But there are strange things going on at the lab.
Like odd noises coming from behind locked doors. Growls and cries but they don’t sound like any animal she’s ever heard.
And why do the two of them have to stay locked in a cage? Sure, there’s a bed and furniture but it’s still a cage. On top of that, the shots they’re made to take are making Jocko sick but they’re making her hungry. Starving. Ravenous for meat.
When Jocko starts his metamorphosis should she stay or escape before it’s too late?

Feeding Fersia By L.S. O'Dea This is book #2 in the Chimera Chronicles series. It's a horrible world with great world building. A young girl is in love with a guy who really is just a Casanova. A scientist is trying to find the next subjects for his lab to appease his boss. He spots the girl and tricks her and the boy into coming to the lab. There, the experiment begins. The book has great characters, suspense, and hard-hitting feelings. But the ending was left hanging. Does it continue in the next book? I hate cliffhanger books. I do have the next one and plan to continue this series.
Ms O'Dea did it again. This short book kept me entertained through and through. I loved every single character and their evolution. The story was touching, thrilling, exciting and although the ending was very well achieved and timed I was left wanting more because I was so enthralled by the story and wanted to know what came next for all of the characters. This is a quick read that will grasp you and not let go. I am extremely excited to see what comes next.
Please note that this is a spin off of the main series Lake of Sins and I believe you should read that in order to understand the world building and evolution better, otherwise you will not understand certain references.
Disclaimer: I would like to thank the author for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
L. S. O’Dea has done it again with this her second volume in the Conguise chronicles, Feeding Fersia. She has written yet another book which I had to read in one sitting right through the night. I thought I would just take a peek at the introduction of the book but before I knew it, it was 2 AM and I had just read this riveting book. A book which is definitely not one for those suffering from spider phobias as they will have nightmares for many nights after reading, even though poor Fersia gains the readers sympathy whilst undergoing the very cruel experimentation which turns her into a mutant in the vile Conguise laboratories. Fersia manages to also gain the love of the scientist McBrid who was carrying out the testing and administering the mutation serum and of the guard Charlie who had befriended Fersia prior to her mutation. A scary but very exciting book, which does justice to the usual writing style of Ms. O’Dea. She always manages to keep me captive till the last page and also makes me very angry at the atrocities Conguise is carrying out. I just hope that sometime soon we will get to see the end of him at the hands of one of his created monsters in some future book so we can all finally rest easy! However we have to leave this in the capable hands of our exceptional author to work out the when and the how to this!
Book two in the Conguise Chronicles is filled with thrills, and drama. Meet another of the dangerous creatures created in Conguise’s lab. How much of the original being still exists after the forced DNA changes of the scientists?
When McBrid, a scientist in Conguise lab accidentally kills one of the creatures he has created, he must find another subject for his experiments. This time he will pick more carefully. Not only does he need someone who will obey after the change, he needs to find a couple. Hopefully if he changes both a male and female already in love, he can eliminate his problem of thee females killing their mates.
When McBrid observes a distressed young House Servant, he befriends her. She is in love with another House Servant but isn’t sure if he is serious about their relationship. They are perfect for his plan.
Fersia is sure that if she can live with Jocko in the lab, away from other House Servants, she is sure he will fall as deeply in love as she is. What changes does McBrid have in mind for this young couple? Will the experiment work this time? Can he create a controllable couple that will procreate?
McBrid works on Level Five in Professor Conguise’s laboratory knowing that is he makes any false move or mistake his career and even life will be over. However, he made a massive mistake and killed the most important creature in the lab - now he has to scramble and make a new Aranea successfully. However, in selecting a new smart host, he must find out if they are willing to obey and if there is enough of the original host left in order to avoid becoming their dinner himself.
This was an enjoyable book in the Conguise Chronicles which explored the difficulties of selecting a new host for one of the beasts and the various downsides and conflicts of conscience that apply to the situation. It was great to have McBrid having empathy with the host in question which made them both appear more "human". This book is standalone and may be read in any order.
The author has created a wonderful world where society has clear levels and the ruling class takes advantage of those beneath them. I love this book (and the entire series), it goes into relationships that are allowed and those that should never have formed. It shows the darker side of those who have power and those who can do nothing but follow the rules of a society that deems them less worthy. Yet, there is a slight glimmer of hope as, despite societal rules, some members of different classes are able to form meaningful relationships. Can love overcome everything? Well, read this book and find out what the characters think about that. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book slips you inside the 5th floor of Professor Conguise's lab. Once there you can hide unseen, and watch everything that happens, but like the evil Professor's lab experiments, you might wish you were anywhere but there. This is a fascinating book. Once you start reading you can't stop. The feelings and fear of the character's are like they're your own. The whole premise of the book pulls you in. The idea of being able to add a spider's DNA to a human's DNA to cause a mutation of the two grasps the mind and makes it shudder. Yet this is not horror or horrible and gross or hard to read. I really enjoyed this book. It was exciting and fun to read. I want more!
Feeding Fersia is the second of the Chimera Chronicles and is even more tragic than the first. Fersia is young and in love, but the object of her affections has used her and left her. Enter McBrid, one of Professor Conguise's scientists under orders to find a mating pair of the creatures he is creating. McBrid has his own reasons to fear for his life and this pushes him into making promises to Fersia about her future if she will only submit to the treatment he is offering. He builds a friendship with the girl and slowly comes to despise what he is doing. This is an exciting and thrilling and seriously unnerving story with one of the most emotionally heartbreaking scenes I have ever read.
I started this spin-off from the original series with the free first or prequel - Escape. I was thankful to see this series also has a free first in series. It is so good and captivating that I knew I'd have to read more. When the opportunity to read ARC of this book came up, how could I not take it, especially as poor as I am? But it would have been worth cutting out a meal or two to get more of this series. This book Feeding Fersia is an absolutely captivating read.

The crimes, heartache and cruelty continue on in level 5 of Professor Conguises laboratory. Being young and in love can bring on a world of hurt! A dark, dystopian world where genetic experimentation knows no bounds. I fell in love with Fersia's character and wish the story could have carried on and on as I really want to know what is the next step in her story. Highly recommended, an amazing read.

Fersia was a sweet innocent servant for the Almighty's, she's now a lethal spider. Thanks to the insane professor, Fersia was unfortunately genetically modified from her former sweet self into a lethal spider who will kill anyone near her cage. This was the second book of the series Lake of Sins. Like the first book, this was well written. I enjoy reading L. S. O 'dea, she's has very different ways of making her books a cover to cover read.
Conguise is an almighty that is obsessed with creating the perfect army. McBride an Almighty, he is the scientist that is assigned to doing just that. Fersia and Jacko are the servants that are selected to be the unknowing test subjects. McBride recruits Charlie a guard to assist him during the experiment. McBride confronts Conguise about his obsession, things don't go quite as planned.
He has a big problem and he needs to get work hard to create another creature. He had killed their monster and if he cannot get another he will die. Follow him as he tries to do it before he is found out. See if he can

Was curious about the first in the series and had to read the second in order to find out what happens to Fersia. It’s seldom that I get interested enough to read a series like this but based on the first two I am ready to try another. Hoping Fersia will appear again.
McBrid understands the dangers of working on level five. You can end up dead, and so he needs to be careful. Such fast paced, fantasy that has you gripped before you know it. Definitely didn’t want it to end.
This book was an awesome read! The storyline was well written, the plot flowed smoothly from page to page and the characters were so well developed that I was totally engaged throughout the entire book!
This creepy glimpse into the evil doings of Dr Congouise was scary. It didn't have a happy ending. It didn't really end. It was just a glimpse of the evil going on in this creepy world. It was just kind of sad.
Second in this series - a different scientist working under Conguise attempts to improve the Aranea strain of hybrids, with partial success. Conguise seems to have n obbsession with creating weapons of offense - against laws designed to prevent genetic manipulation...
First book of the series atracted me, this second delivery was dull, likely because it didn't require the great world building effort of The Rise of The River Man . Didn't finish it.
Couldn't put it down! I admit, I am an ARC reader for the author, but I couldn't put this book down! I have a huge phobia of spiders and this book sent delicious chills down my spine! This book gave us a glimpse into another of Conguise's twisted transformations and how the people who work in his lab don't share his penchant for disregard of the other classes of people in the Chronicles world. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good fantasy/horror thrill!
