No Cowboy Required was such a heartwarming story filled with small town charm. I adored the characters, I had a lot of fun watching how the story progressed and the happy ending left a huge smile on my face. This was JoAnn Sky's debut novel and I'll definitely be checking out her future books!
This trip was supposed to be in and out, nice and easy. Sell the ranch, scoop up JJ, and skedaddle.
Noah’s gaze rolled down her body, lingered on her too-high heels, then climbed back up. “The city

Grace returns home for the first time in many years. She's inherited her father's ranch and has been given custody of her ten-year-old stepbrother JJ. She's never met him and doesn't know anything about him. The only person he has left to look after him is Noah, the man who broke Grace's heart. She's unpleasantly surprised when she finds him at the ranch, being in charge and taking care of everything. Grace has a successful and incredibly busy photography career in New York, how can she combine ...more

The writing was good I think. It was fast-paced and before I knew it, I was finished with this story. I'm really curious to see what this author writes in the future since this was her debut novel.

let's talk a bit about the romance
I have to say, that the romance in this book didn't completely 'get to me' you know? I was often more interested in the developing relationship between Grace and her stepbrother JJ as I was with her romantic relationship developments between her and Noah.

This is a delightful second chance romance with great characters, a lovely setting and plenty of twist and turns, anguish and romance along the way. Grace Harper left her family home seven years ago after her father remarried and her first love, Noah Taylor, broke her heart and sent her away. Following the tragic death of her father she is returning to sort everything out and to become the guardian of her autistic stepbrother, JJ, who she has never previously met and who certainly seems to resen ...more

This is a modern day romance set in Reno, Nevada. It was ironic because I was in Reno for the RT book convention. Reno is a beautiful state, and the mountains are intensely beautiful. We have mountains here in New York, but they are nothing compared to the mountains in Reno.

Just to let the reader know, there are no love scenes in this book. If that’s ok, keep on reading, if not, then I would suggest reading
I received this book in exchange for an honest review on NetGalley. I enjoyed the story a lot. It was my first book by this author. We meet Grace whose dad and step mom had been killed in an accident, leaving her custody of her stepmom’s son JJ. JJ is 10 and autistic. Grace returned to her childhood home to learn she had inherited the Wyoming ranch where JJ was staying with a caregiver, her childhood sweetheart, Noah whom she hadn’t seen since she left 7 years prior. Grace has been living and wo ...more

I loved, loved, loved this book! It has all the necessary requirements for a keep-you-up-all-night romance read. Noah is a hunky and multilayered hero, Grace is a strong-willed and conflicted heroine, and Grace’s step-brother is a touchingly vulnerable and believable secondary character who’ll steal your heart. You’ll even love the beautifully rendered setting — Reno, NV, where wild horses roam free. Don’t miss this heartwarming, realistic, sweet love story by talented debut author, JoAnn Sky.

This was a wonderfully heartwarming story with the small town flair I adore. Grace Harper never planned on returning to her small hometown but when her father unexpectedly passes away and she discovers she has a younger brother she never knew about she has no choice but to go back. That's ok. She'll settle the estate, sell the ranch, and get her brother placed in a great boarding school. Then it's back to her life. Too bad things don't go quite according to plan!

This is a very well done book wit

This is the first book I read by JoAnn Sky. I highly recommend reading this book. Grace moved away from home to follow her dreams. She left because she thought she failed as a daughter . Noah, her best friend and the love of her life, wanted her to follow her dreams so he let her go. Tragedy struck and now she's back. It's the first time since she left. Noah regrets letting her leave. She now has a step-brother to take care of. He is autistic. Now she has to figure out how to take care of him. I ...more

Returning home is hard for Grace Harper, but when she inherits a ranch she hasn't spent time at in years and becomes the guardian of her young, autistic stepbrother, Grace knows she doesn't have a choice but to face her past. However, being around Noah Taylor again isn't easy, especially after he broke her heart. Yet, the more time she spends with him, the more she finds herself falling for him all over again. Will Grace be able to give Noah another chance, or will she walk away from her second ...more

I like the theme of this story. Autism doesn't very often appear in novels and this one projects the main aspects of one of the autistic spectrums.

Grace was heartbroken when she left home seven years ago. She is now a successful photographer in New York.

Noah runs his own IT business and is caregiver to Grace's autistic stepbrother, JJ who is ten.

Grace has returned home to sort out the farm left to her by her father and to plan her stepbrother's future. She is surprised by what she sees. The ran

This book has fade-to-black sex and one (inexplicably out of place) f-bomb that is easily skipped over if that kind of thing offends you. Other than that, there's not much here that readers who like “clean and sweet” books should find off-putting.

The writing in this book was really, really good. While I'll admit that I struggled with Grace and her aloof/detached attitude that made her seem either clueless or heartless more than once, I really liked her a lot and found myself rooting for her to f

A fun and heartwarming debut!

Though Grace, the main character, isn't always the easiest person to like (I dare you to read this all the way through without yelling at her in your head about the choices she thinks she "has" to make at least once), Ms. Sky does a great job of showing how Grace grows and changes as a character. Her stepbrother, JJ, is wonderfully written--his love of animals and genuine vulnerability made him one of my favorite charac

No Cowboy Required is the story of Grace and Noah, former small town high school sweethearts with a bitter breakup between them. But with Gracie’s father and stepmother dead, she has to return home to take responsibility for the ten year old stepbrother she never knew. When I first started this story I was ready to dislike Gracie. She seemed so uncharitable towards JJ and I was ready to write her off.
But I kept reading and it took no time at all for Gracie to win me over. She was smart and deter

No Cowboy Required (Biggest Little Love Story) by JoAnn Sky
She's looking for the woman, she never knew she lost in a place she hoped to never see again. Grace is not happy when her past collides with her present. Her past is something she never planned to revisit, but apparently fate didn't get the memo. Home was not part of the plan, but life has a way of changing your mind. No Cowboy Required makes small town a big deal. JoAnn Sky proves no matter how far you run, your heart's memories are n

This is such a cute second chance story but also about a sister and her step brother connecting .

Grace left the little town as fast as she could going to New York and becoming a photographer,  when she has to go back to settle her father's ranch and get her step brother JJ she didn't expect things to not go the way she wanted or see her ex Noah taking care of her brother.

Noah wants things a certain way and knows that means he needs to make Grace see that she and her brother need to be here on th

No Cowboy Required is my first read by JoAnn Sky, but definitely won’t be my last. I love Cowboys and combined with some angst-filled romance, I was hooked.

This is a really good story with engaging characters and well-developed world building too. Noah and Grace are a couple with past history, and some deeply buried feelings and frustration make for an interesting and banter filled read.

I’ll be looking for more titles by Ms Sky in the future.

If you like small town, second chance romances with a hint of cowboy, then you’ll probably enjoy this. Prodigal daughter Grace goes through quite a shift in emotions and mindset as the book progresses, and I loved how her relationship with JJ, her stepbrother, formed and grew throughout.

Grace isn’t always the most likeable character. She often comes across as dismissive and selfish, but I did understand where she was coming from. The actions of her mother, her inability to help her fat

This was truly one of those books that I just didn't want to put down.

An emotionally intense story of forgiveness, second-chances and finding peace. A promotional company was literally desperate for reviewers to sign up to read this book. I had a free space and decided to roll the dice and take a chance on an author I had not heard of before. I hoped I would at least enjoy the story but I never expected to be absolutely captivated by it, to the extent that I was sneaking quick reads whenever I c

Grace’s world has been upended… again. She’s heading home to the place she swore she’d never return to face a future she never wanted. With the death of her father and stepmother, Grace has to figure out how to handle the young stepbrother she’s never met. JJ certainly didn’t ask for any of this but she has to do what she feels is best for them both… even if she has to fight the man she once loved over just about everything. Her life is far from this small town and t

No Cowboy Required is the first book I have read by JoAnn Sky. It seems that there are a lot of new authors or at least many I have never heard of before. Such is the case with JoAnn Sky. It was the cowboy theme that drew my interest. I found the book an entertaining read, not too deep and not too complicated.

It was easy to see why Grace was filled with so much angst as she return to the Wyoming ranch. Besides being a second chance story it is also an enemy to lover story too. I liked the title

No Cowboy Required by JoAnn Sky is a realistic second chance romance that has ALL the feels!

I like second chance romances but I get annoyed with these guys who feel that they need to push their girlfriend away so that she can achieve her goals. What really annoyed me about this particular story was that Noah wanted Grace back and she should just forgive him for pushing her away and breaking her heart and everything would be good and they could pick up where they left off - seven years ago!

I did enjoy the progression of Grace learning to re

JoAnn Sky did a great job with her debut story of No Cowboy Required, as her talented writing style shined through the pages. It starts out with the heroine Grace, who had made a life for herself in photography, living in NY, when she has to return home to the little town she grew up in. She's been left custody of her 10 year stepbrother that she's never met, since her father, and his mother, passed away. Her plan was to move him back to NY with her, after selling the ranch. Seven years ago, Grace left her hometown with a broken heart and has become a successful photographer in NY. She never expected to return but when her father and her stepbrother passed away she became guardian to the 10 year old stepbrother, JJ that she never met.

When Noah broke her heart all those years ago he had his reasons. He manages her father’s ranch and is close to her stepbrother so not seeing him while she is in town is no longer an option. Now that Grace is back he not only wants to w

** I have received an Arc for a honest review!! **

What a nice short read! I have not read Joann Sky before but this is quite cute second chance romance with all of the feels.

Grace inherits a ranch since her father and stepmother pass away. She has never met her autistic stepbrother and learns she is his guardian.

Noah was her ex. Noah is the caretaker of the ranch and he was the one taking care of her stepbrother.

Please grab this wonderful book to find out what happens! You will not regret it!! V
